He did the exact same thing with Dobson’s “Stop Doing Sexist Crap” comic a few days ago and no one gave him shit over that. But then again, Dobson was kicked off Twitter ages ago, so he couldn’t try and play the pity angle.

No, dude. Don't you get it? When you have a lot of followers, you aren't allowed to post your opinion on something. Otherwise, your followers will go after them and harass them.

Plus no matter how much Dobson pathetically blubbers it's hard to feel anything other than disgust for him. If a massive hate mob was legit attacking and harassing Jess for the comic, and she didn't double down on being an ass, I'd have been on her side. I think most people would have been on her side if the claims of "transphobic verbal violence" were true, but they aren't.

And "lol gamer bro douche" could be literally any of the hundereds of Letplayers on Youtube, or maybe Jess got a text that some fuckstain that called her Faggy McChinstubble on XBox Live, there was almost no way for NewGuy™ to know who the hell she was talking about. So overhearing her mirth at someone getting robbed would be appalling to anyone that isn't a sociopath or massive dickhead. Much like with comedy the Left just cannot grasp context, because in this context Jess looked like an asshole. How the context of the situation is going so far over her and her follower's heads is beyond my understanding.

In all fairness though, I personally wouldn't negatively namedrop Pewdiepie just because I wouldn't want to deal with a legion of screeching 11 year olds for weeks on end. In fact has any of the "harassment" been from diehard Pewdiepie fans seeking blood? It looks like it's all been relatively normal people and other artists just saying some variation of "dude that's not cool".

The vast majority of the response to her comic were "that's pretty callous" and similar sentiments, and the amount of people that actually knew she was trans has been low, with the number of people commenting on her being trans being understandably lower, in the 1% of the population sort of range.

Funny enough someone who has been great at branding themselves is Oney. He gets to build up a fanbase and capital through his lp channel. Said channel is also able to help his friends by being payed to edit or cohost. He can also sell the game he is developing in part thanks to his yt channel to the same fanbase that provides an income in the first place.

Most of the people namedropping the fact the author is trans are defenders, who use it in a "you can't mock this person they're trans" sort of way. The people mocking this comic don't know nor give a shit that the author is trans. The New Guy comic also does not mention anything about being trans in it as well.

They may not think it's a job, but playing video games is how some people make a living, in terms of playing competitively. Agree or not, e-sports are a thing. But even Twitch streamers do more work than just playing video games. This article does a very good job at illustrating how it's not nearly as simple as 'play games, get free cash'.

She did the same thing with the Farms and Null in the comic posted a few pages back. And I get what @FierceBrosnan is saying; in the case of PewDiePie, there can be reason to be careful - but in this case it only hurt the comic's argument, because it stops it being about a specific person being robbed and how you feel about them and becomes a more generic 'should I be happy that someone I don't like who's richer than me had something bad happen to them, the sort of thing that also can and does happen to people I care about?'

It's part of why I love this meme, because it so starkly points out exactly who hides their bitterness and hatred behind a mask of empathy, and how much they project and DARVO anyone who calls out that maybe, just maybe, all this anger and disgust doesn't actually make you the good person you claim so hard you are.
