I just can't get over how a website specifically founded to make fun of people is suddenly having a roundtable discussion about how to deal with bullying. No wonder the real world seems so intimidatingly hostile to them.

God help me, there's even more? Before I even try to dissect that, once again, site decides to demonstrate that he's probably the scummiest person in SA by snapping at a user for so much as suggesting that their approach needs to be slightly modified. I've legitimately never seen such a hateful person before.

Worse still is that everyone else dogpiles onto this poor fool after prompting from site. Just a reminder, these are the people who want to ban users for making them upset, and this is how they respond to the most meek, inoffensive, lightest dissent I can imagine, if you can even call it "dissent." And, of course, they got banned for it.

Here's the other rules they want to enforce. A further breakdown:

List of bannable offenses:

- Calling posters unfunny when the conversation isn't intended to be humorous. This sounds like a personal qualm, as a person who would do so is clearly trying to be irreverent in a serious conversation. Can't have any humor in our comedy forum. They also call the "pro-comedy" state of FYAD a "thinly disguised bullying trick."

- Injecting constant whataboutism after "invading a space." This is another attempt to quash dissent by making it bannable. Especially given that these people unquestionably conflate whataboutism with relevant hypotheticals.

- "Online griefing." This is a nonsensical phrase in the context they use it, but ironically they list "calling for the shutdown of [forums]" and "[abusing] the mechanics of a forum" a bannable offense without a hint of self-awareness. If this were the case, literally everyone in this thread would be banned.

- Shutting down conversations for being too "political." Apparently this is an "alt right" strategy. Literally nobody on Something Awful does this, unless they're calling out a poster for being off-topic. They're most likely trying to make this a rule since these people invariably cannot discuss anything without needing to bring up their political beliefs. In other words, this is used to ban people who don't care instead of just disagree.

- Claiming to be neutral. Same as before, this is used to ban people who simply don't care or are impartial on top of those who outright dissent.

- Inside jokes. Sounds like a tactic right out of 1984. Can't have communities develop their own subcommunities, after all. That's how you get social unrest.

- Contacting the head admin. This rule would be used to prevent users outside of their little circle from circumventing the mods (who they have drinking out of the palm of their hands) and contacting somebody who they've failed to stomp into conformity, being Lowtax in this case.

- Agreeing as a community that a moderator is out of line and asking for their resignation. Once again, this is done to make their pet mods the ultimate authority so they indirectly have more control over the forum as a whole.

- Asking moderators to resign. Same as above.

- Escalating drama. A vague rule used so they have more wiggle room to come up with any excuse to ban somebody they don't like, most likely when they try to argue against them.

- "Grooming" other individual forums or major figures within them. This rule would be used to prevent any dissent from arising or people organizing to change the rules or the moderators who enforce them.

- Another vaguery I barely understand to be used to ban a person on a whim for any possible reason they can stick to them.

The worst part is that this poster even identified that these are indeed radicalizing rules to enforce. But because they're stupid, they don't have an actual point to tie into this, so they literally just brought this up for no reason, unless you count them trying to show how knowledgeable they are of the "dangers of the alt-right" a reason.

In short, this reads like a series of laws used to create a puppet government immune to any type of coup. Needless to say, this is absolute insanity at its finest, especially given that this is an ancient, poorly coded forum with a hemorrhaging supply of users instead of, well, a puppet government. I feel like I stumbled across a bunch of highschool sophomores LARPing a game of Civilization.

I don't know what's funnier, that they're serious in floating these ideas or that there's a good chance of them being watered down and implemented.

There's something pathetic about the approach, though. They could have a blanket "be chill to each other" rule and achieve the same ends, but instead they're pathologically crafting rules like a fucking dungeon master.
