They also were announced (on a flyer) for SacAnime Fall 2020.

This probably precludes Vic from attending, which sucks since Vic's attended every year for the past several years.

Keep in mind the entire point of this exercise was

1. Destroy a competitor
2. Take his market share.

Now that competitor has more conventions than them. And his market share is still growing. They may have done him a favor because Funimation and Rooster Teeth might be absorbed into other entities this year, so they will all be looking for work. And Monica had to pay 160k for the privilege of doing these things as well as the stress from Twitter.

This is a pyhrric victory at best. One that Monica and Jamie may never recover from.

I agree and that is why I mentioned vic and his amounts. I only pointed it out because I know some smart ass lurker would see that comment and say "hur hur only day 3 and they think that is it", so I just wanted it on the record that it is acknowledged.

The description states this group is not straight up anti Vic, only against him voicing a role in the show.

The posts are public and I thought they were a little interesting for the reason that the members said why they didn't like Vic.

The members simply dislike Vic for, in their opinion, being a bad voice actor. They also dislike him because he got a lot of roles back then. They claim Vic gets so many roles because Funimation knows hiring him to voice a character will pull in fans.

No comments about him being a serial hugger, being creepy, or being rude to con staff. Yet I thought people have been talking about this stuff for ages. Still, this group that's specifically against Vic with people as members that dislike Vic has nothing to say about Vic's supposed creepy behavior. Only that he gets a lot of roles and is more popular with fans than other voice actors. Hmmmm.

The first group is dumb but the second group does have some valid points for the time it seemed to be populated. There is a problem in dubs where they just use the same several VA over and over because they're popular, even if they don't fit the role. I also don't think Vic would have been a good fit for Sebastian based on how he normally voices characters, can't really think of anyone in the series that would fit him though my knowledge is based on the manga not the anime. Their point on hiring actual British VA for the series or at least people that can pull off a convincing accent is also one that personally irks me a lot when a series has a clear location yet no one sounds like they're from there.

It grows tiresome with dubs with how similar they all end up sounding, they aren't even so bad that they loop around to great, just forgettable. I haven't actually watched a dub in a long time but it seems like many of the dub VA I did like have moved on to better paying fields and replaced with just samey sounding new ones. Of course, my opinion on current dub quality is highly uneducated as I don't pay attention to the dub scene nor actively watch any newer dubs. I'm just wondering if the current dubbing houses are feeling a squeeze on finding talented VA at the moment.

Well, the Blue Orca has algae for brains, so I'm not surprised she's supporting the hot take here. Vic doesn't need direct evidence at this point in time. There just needs to be prima facie evidence that the defendants did something in order to push things forward. I mean... since discovery is stayed, you can't really gather the direct evidence that links them yet. He can only go by what he has been told by cons at this point. If he was told that he wasn't invited because of something a defendant said, or that a defendant pressured them to withdraw their invitation... I would believe that would be enough to give the suit merit. It is because on the surface it does appear that the defendants have been involved in some wrongdoing. But even if this is enough to tank the TI... there are still the other counts on the table which we have evidence on. But someone can correct me if I'm misunderstanding things here.

Well that is the thing. They have to pay their lawyer, and then they have to try and collect from vic. Again have fun in texas with that when he is a contract worker and his house is in a trust. BHBC gets their pay from the GFM trust and the rest of it goes to the salvation army, and thus the defense wont see a dime of that money.

Funny thing with this is that Vic doesn't really have the grounds to say anything as that's all for a jury to decide and they're mostly legal questions too right? So this really does nothing to him in appeals.
