DSP talking about SFV may be one of my favorite things. Was just listening to Memology's new video on it.
"SFV is a guessing game, where you try to read your opponents and guess what they're going to do" "There's not a high skill ceiling"
Yes, SFV is definitely not the cleanest SF game, although this may have changed from what I've heard with Champion Edition and the few matches I have peeped. And yes, there's a fuckton of guessing, or at least, in previous seasons there was, with characters like Karin throwing HPs a plenty fishing for a CC.
There's a reason why we had fucking MenaRD winning CapCup and then not placing in majors lmao.
But there's also a skill ceiling since otherwise, people like Tokido, Fuudo, Momochi or Bonchan wouldn't constantly be placing high on tournaments despite some pool drowning or upsets.
But in true DSP fashion, he uses a word and attaches a completely different meaning to it. In ANY FG you're going to read your opponent and guess the correct solution.
Guessing is what he does when he randomly jumps into a Ken with Ryu's j.MK hoping the guy DP's early. Guessing is what he does by DPing half an ocean away of a Birdie.
Reading? That's what Arslan did to Knee to literally sidewalk the man's hellsweep.

Funfact, black DSP, LTG, had a similar rant years ago. Since humans cannot read humans, there are only guesses. There's no such thing as yomi or anything. There's only bullshit 50/50 that take advantage of human fault.
TL;DR Former pro-fighting game player cannot level up his game in 15years. Still stuck at the Scrub phase.
