Speedrun Event General - AGDQ Up! - Exceptional people play games really fast

I happened to check the stream that's currently going on, it's as pathetic as I expected.

I am so done with this pronoun shit. No one was giving a fuck about who everyone else was fucking or what people were wearing or if a guy was girly/girl was manish anymore. But nooo, that's not enough. Now the whole world is meant to LARP with these fuckers. Because heaven forbid you refer to what a person IS, rather than whatever ROLE they're trying to play/feel like, and break their immersion.

They can fuck off with that noise. Even furries aren't this delusional.

I used to like GDQ/AGDQ back when people were allowed to be funny but now its just a dry, boring, by the books event where no one can crack real jokes.

I was watching the stream for a while. Saw tons of people get their messages deleted or banned for the stupidest shit ever.
IIRC someone in chat asked for anyone to DM them on what was being posted that keeps getting deleted and got their commented deleted for asking that.

Hello, everybody. Seeing as AGDQ is in *checks watch* THREE DAYS, I figured I should update you all on what is happening....

A few key notes for this year.
1) Pronouns are now put right below player name on screen, in case you couldn't tell just by looking. You will be banned for making fun of this. There is also a GDQtrans emote with the off-color Thailand flag that has been added over the past year. Wonder how long that will last before the troll onslaught next week.

2) PMG isn't going to be there. He was kicked off staff last year after the trappening but went anyway and hated it. He's sperged out about it bitterly and, unless he changed his mind, will not be there at all this year. I think he was told to cool his shit behind the scenes too, so don't expect bittertweets this time either. Betting on radio silence.

3) No punchy on staff this year, he also submitted one run and was rejected, thank God. Here's hoping nobody has Mr. Charisma Kryptonite on their couch. Edobean, on the other hand, will be providing commentary a few times. Boy, she sure lives up to her name these days, am I right? A har, har, har.

4) There are 9 main Zelda games, 6 of them make it in plus two spin-offs. Eat your heart out, Mario (4 out of 11 made it in, one only via Tasbot.)

5) Here is your unofficial gender rundown for the year. People who go twice are counted twice, bonus runners not at all because its 3:30 in the morning. Men: 173 Biological women: 3 ( flying_fox, cajink87 and Clipper1) Trans: 4 (Lizstar has two runs, as well as headstrong1290 and Claris) Can't tell: 4 sjorec (leaning trans, could just be a girlie man,) stewie_cartman, Rezovayix and Elpis all do not have voice or images available. One doesn't even have a twitch. Odds are they are all men, of course.

6) I am not kidding about the ramp up this year, I keep going through the schedule looking to even out the last two days but no, they really did stick everything but Mario 3 on Friday and Saturday.

7) Censorship in action:

Anyways, onto the runs. YMMV but these are what I think the good/notable ones are:

Day 1:
Mario 3 100% race between mitchfirepower and two people who will be losing to him. (6:50 pm)

Day 2:
Myst block. I am probably the only one who cares, but these games were my childhood. (12:30 to 1:30 a.m)
Doom 2016 Nightmare difficulty 100%. Two hours of "speed" running. (9:00 p.m.)

Day 3:
GTA:SA These runs are always glorious, what a great run. Its 4 hours long, I will be in bed long before it starts and wake up long after it finishes. (2 in the fucking morning)
Adventure Island 2 ran by TMR. Notable only for who is running it. If you tune into this, be sure to stick around for Hebereke. ( 1:10 p.m)
Hebereke, don't sleep on this one, a simple run of a simple game but its got meme potential. Enemies all have bug out eyes. (1:50)
Zelda 1, 2 and LttP relay race from three teams of three. The big one, I guess? The games have little to do with each other, unlike Mario relays, so it makes less sense to me, but whatever. Enjoy all the other Zelda runs too, because of how much the pay pigs love it. (8:30 p.m. to midnight)

Day 4:
Megaman 4-6 relay race. I think Megaman runs are boring (its all the saaaaaaaame) but lots of other people don't. (10:00 p.m. to midnight)

Day 5:
What I can only assume is this year's Awful Block from 1:20 a.m. to 8:00 or 9:00 depending on whether Nightcry, which had a very divisive reception, is considered awful by you. Boy, 7 hours of awful block, they sure are running it long this year. Of note, Mike Uyama himself slides over the couch to start things off playing Super Hydlide.
Fire Emblem: 3 Houses, a recent release, ran by the infamous "Claris" aka Mrs. Doubtfire. Despite that whole Prime 2 Fiasco a year ago, Claris is a top quality runner, don't expect any fuckups. (9:25 pm.)
Bioshock, which is glitchy on normal play throughs so I can't wait to see what they do to it. (11:00 p.m.)

Day 6:
Wind Waker again. Fuck off. 7:00 p.m.
TASbot right after it. It will play SMB 3, 2 and then a mystery bonus game (and by mystery bonus game, I mean Pokemon Blue.) They list Blue twice, once as Gameboy and once as Gameboy Player, so maybe its a race? GBP does technically have different tech that TASbot might be able to exploit. Starts at 9:00 for those who don't want to sit through WW again.
Followed by not a race of Mario 64 randomizer (whatever)
And then a hype Mario World "one mind" 11 exit gimmick run where two players have controllers which randomly control parts of Mario's moveset (switches every few seconds.) This is less neat than it sounds because there is a best way to do each level, all elite runners should basically run the game the same and thus all they have to do is both run optimally and all is fine. This is probably the big gimmick "hype" run of the event. (right before midnight)

Day 7:
Darksouls. I don't care, everyone else does. (12:30 a.m.)
Jumping Flash! I care, no-one else does. (6:47 in the a.m.) Followed by a bunch of other hidden gems/retro classics.
LTTP randomizer with some gimmicks. Is not a race, thus killing all hype. (who cares when its on, go outside.)
Untitled Goose Game all major objectives. Big new run of the year, I guess? They certainly slotted it like so. (5:45 p.m.)
Mario Maker 2 blind relay race between two teams of 4, featuring Pangeapanga and poo but no mitch (he gets his time on Day 1, remember?) and a bunch of less famous team-mates. These are super fun, be sure to tune in. (6:30 p.m.)
Mystery Game: Don't know what it is but its the second last game of the marathon, probably the Link's Awakening run mentioned below. (8 p.m.)
Super Metroid Impossible with oats. Its two hours and thirty minutes long. They are super serious about Super Metroid not being a super risky race, aren't they. Bollocks to it, ending on a rom hack, have they no shame? (9:40)

Bonus runs:
Mike Tyson's Punchout 2 Players, 1 Controller run with zallard and some guy who can hopefully keep up with him. I am down for this but nothing will top last summer's Punch-Out Wii blindfold run. (TBA)
Pokemon Blue by Tasbot, as mentioned above. (Saturday p.m.)
Link's Awakening remake. The description claims there's tons of skill and sequence breaking. They better not be lying if they want me to sit through this monstrosity's so-called music. (Saturday evening?)
Sonic 06 beaten in one hour. Which is nuts because thats got to be something like 60 percent loading screens. Game is a glitchy mess even in casual play, I expect it to get twisted into a pretzel by the runner. (TBA)
Final Fantasy VI beaten by a real human in 35 minutes. Prove it. Game gets glitched to hell according to the description, enjoy your all Terra party. (TBA)
Animorphs, the Awful Block bonus game. This was a meme game from last year's Awful Block, and is back with additional "content" for us all to "enjoy". Would have preferred Arabian Nights, TBQH. (Friday Night)

Don't expect:

Sekiro: Game of the Year but not Game of the Done Quick, in as a back-up.
The Lucky Dime Caper Starring Donald Duck for Sega Master System: in as a back up. Could we please switch Wind Waker for this?
Blaster Master Zero 2- back up.
Billy Hatcher: Once again, would much rather see this than Zelda.
Crackdown 3: Shunned by the world, once again.

Think I'll wait until it's all over and decide if any of the runs are worth watching based on what everyone says. Don't much care to watch boring speedruns with memeably bad commentary.

With Chibi on the couch, so expect some dead meme references during this meme game. Or he wont get any friends to share a hotel with again and cancel early.
Oh. Ohhh, Ohhhh noooooo.

Good summary. I'll have to check some of those out.

Sekiro wasn't that interesting of a run the last time I watched one of the WR holders do it, so I'm not surprised it's only listed as a back-up.

I haven't seen the full schedule yet, but would like to see that Resident Evil 2 remake in action.

Be sure to re-read my post for the minor addition of the AGDQ 2020 gender demographics-

172 to 3 to 4 to 4

Have fun figuring out what that means. Also, one of the women is running Barbie in Awful Block.
It means get fucked Women in gaming, even the fake women outnumber you now.

Taking horse piss hormones makes you shit at speedrunning? The trannies played their hand too early and burned bridges too fast?
