I feel it's even ironic since being a Trad Catholic, he should understand that the greatest saints like the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Therese de Liseux and St. Augustine were only great saints because they understood that humility (not only to other men but more importantly to God) was a virtue. Nick's problem is that he is 21 and thinks he has all of the answers. Wisdom comes from experience, and he's completely lacking in experience. It's obvious that he hasn't built up a cohesive philosophy on the use of force.
