There's already a MbP accusation going, it's a matter of time hopefully until they get them out from under her.
these cases are personally gut wrenching and I'm hard to wrench. the seriousness of the surgeries puts this over the top.
the boys haven't had brain surgery- I'm wondering if the dad has been shielding them better.

chiari malformation is real- yet there can be inconclusive MRIs for it. I think that she's been undernourishing them for much longer than all this, possibly dating back to before any major medical intervention. Celiac is a common claim along MbP abusers. it allows them to control diet without suspicion, and to make the child afraid to eat normally.
this kind of psychological and physical abuse can cause a lot of issues- difficulty in eating/swallowing, bed wetting, all the signs are here.
the fact that even a boy has had a digestive surgery suggests to me that control is the underlying issue for her. that and the younger girl's "model career".
combine all of those things,with the slightest inconclusive result on an MRI and an overeager doctor, and you'll be able to get the surgeries seen here. being undernourished causes a lot of the symptoms, being abused this way causes them (including headaches).
I have worked on the aftermath of MbP cases. in one case, a sibling died and another did not (the death of one provoked enough investigation to prevent the death of the other). the surviving victim to this day has very similar problems as a survivor of child sexual abuse. the one who died had had about fifty surgeries, many diagnostic procedures, and showed clear evidence of having been given irritants through a parent-inserted feeding tube.
this thread is built of red flags.
in a way MbP is worse than sexual abuse. it's not only a bodily violation, a boundary violation, and physical, emotional abuse but also is usually accompanied by serious sadistic glee at the suffering caused by unnecessary procedures. CSA survivors can often recover with treatment, therapy. MbP survivors are often incapable of trusting any health care worker and so can never really get help to recover from it.
it's absolutely insidious and repulsive to hear about.
as far as stopping it: in the USA, religion dictates much of the law. until that changes, children will still be material objects owned by their parents. doctors will be unable to properly monitor and catch abusers like these. parents can over treat, insist on useless treatments, or remove suffering children from appropriate treatment on any whim. it's not good.
in this particular case suspicion is already raised, but it's luck that will save them. a hospital or doctor willing to kiss ass while installing cameras to catch her coaching the kids. someone educated enough to look back through the entire medical record. you'd need her permission for that, though. possibly one of the kids asking for help. at least these kids are not Jani and bodhi, unable to articulate what's being done to them. they may have a chance.
abuse thrives on secrets. allowing people to hide health records from new doctors is a bad idea. I have my issues with HIPAA, this being foremost.
