It's a talking point because in an interview Obama stated that his economic policies are so mainstream that he'd be considered moderate Republican if he made them in 1980. This was in response to the tea party movement calling him a secret socialist muslim.

I don't have an account. I'm just looking to see if SA did a Wiki and if so what happened with it.

It isn't a wiki, it (was) just a collection of quick collection of SA factoids, terms, and in-jokes added by users as they felt relevant. The primary function was to eliminate new users having to ask the same questions and bog down the forums, such as "what the fuck is a toxx clause?" and "why does the wrestling forum constant talk about 'camera 6'?". It's supposed to be no more than a short explanation spanning a single paragraph.

It would be similar if you made a KFpedia so people could quickly reference notable events and jokes - so new users can be "in" on the joke when people demand Techpriest eats a hat, Internet War Criminal be given a "retired staff" badge, or reference OwO's giant post on SA even though those jokes started a few years ago.

Because it's the SA version though, it's lazy and unmaintained. Entries can only be added to, never edited or removed. Because it's user generated, there's a lot of not relevant ones as people shit it up with nonsense. The good entries have the issue of referencing things in 2002-2008 which now would be considered "problematic" and will probably be removed eventually. Also, a lot of the stuff that was referenced (hosted on imageshack, angelfire, or other dead sites) has been deleted, such as anything that now references a FYAD thread.

I was going to take more screenshots but there's loads on there and the majority of it isn't funny, even though some of it is trying very hard to be.

And it failed because it was up to the users to update it and the users are goons.

Because it's the SA version though, it's lazy and unmaintained. Entries can only be added to, never edited or removed. Because it's user generated, there's a lot of not relevant ones as people shit it up with nonsense. The good entries have the issue of referencing things in 2002-2008 which now would be considered "problematic" and will probably be removed eventually. Also, a lot of the stuff that was referenced (hosted on imageshack, angelfire, or other dead sites) has been deleted, such as anything that now references a FYAD thread.

For content, since people have asked to share old Something Awful sagas, I'd like to bring up SWAP.avi. Zack Parsons posted a good article about that video's history, but the tl;dr is that a mentally ill goon known as Metis somehow got a bunch of other goons to crowdfund $500 with which to commission a Brazilian porn video. It was a prototypical Kickstarter project, in which backers were rewarded by being allowed to submit memes that the porn actresses wrote on a blackboard at the start of the video. The actresses then proceeded to disrobe, shit everywhere, grab fistfuls of the shit, shove the shit back up each other's asses, re-shit the shit, and then eat it. Metis was permabanned, and the memes on the blackboard are no longer in use. One of the porn actresses later starred in Two Girls One Cup.

I have not personally seen the video, and I'm not going to download it for archival purposes, because I fear that if I touch it then I will end up taking a huge knife and forcibly circumcising every woman in my neighborhood. The video is, as we say, highly Islamic.

I had an inkling SAclopedia removals would start happening, so back in November I spent some time screenshotting a bunch of them, including the entire listing for every page at the time. I tried to hit every article that'd be even slightly interesting, but a lot of it is just dross. Please don't kick my ass for not thinking to screenshot the "troons" article, I'm already beating myself up over it.

My screenshots say "SAclopedia! Now with 2228 total entries!", and currently it's showing 2236.
