I doubt it. The connecticondo was underwater as soon as he bought it. And he hasn't owned the WAkhando long enough to really do a decent refi, especially if he's up to his eyeballs in debt like he is. No mortgage lender is going to look at EVERYTHING like that and say "yeah, this is a good idea." He may have a great deal in equity, but they look at the now, not the potential (assuming he would adhere to better spending habits and shit...).

Absolute nonsense. He thinks if he uses it for work it is completely protected. It's only protected up to a dollar value, in particular $10,000. He doesn't have more than about $1,000 in stuff he uses for work. He cannot exempt his condo because part of it is used for work.

If it's a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the deficiency judgment is just more unsecured credit entitled to no more priority than a credit card debt.

Also: I guarantee that the reason he couldn’t refinance was his tax debt and not his credit cards. A bank would much rather have a secured asset as part of a loan than credit cards, especially in this case. However, tax debt causes all sorts of issues and I guarantee Phil’s tax attorney told him he needed to be making regular payments and he just ignored it. I would really love to see Phil’s bank statements just to see where all his money is going.
