I honestly think this is a topic where people feel compelled to talk when they don't have a lot to say. I realize I'm kind of the exception with only about 1,000 posts over 6+ years, but about 70% of this thread could disappear without taking away from the conversation. I suppose it's the emotional nature of the topic. Politics are like a bug zapper for over-confident opinion sharing.

I'd argue it's not so much defending the lolcow or group of lolcows in question, it's doing so and not providing proof that can stand on its own merits. Whenever I see it in other threads, it can typically be boiled down to "Provide proof faggot." If you can provide solid proof a lolcow isn't guilty of what they're being accused of then it will be accepted.

So if someone went into DSP's thread and said "he's great at videogames and deserves all the money he makes" one of the first responses would assuredly be something like "Here's a bunch of compilation videos showcasing him failing to do something a literal child or disabled person playing the same game could do; also here's proof of when he gamed the systems of the sites he was on to earn his money unscrupulously." To use DSP as an example again, he got cleared of using a prostitute who pegged him when people provided proof that some Dutch catfishers named the Brongeests were trying to extort him. Granted a lot of guns got jumped in that situation, but he did get a deserved apology from Null for it; plus we got to discover and laugh at the catfishers.

Point is, any posts that say "Orange man bad because [Mainstream Media Company] said so" will get roundly mocked not because people here think "We must defend the Orange Savior of America from any criticism" but because it's utter horseshit from a source that proves itself untrustworthy and objectively contemptible on a daily basis.

I voted third party, but laid into my "Her Turn" friends in the lead up to the election; don't like Trump? Fine. But all the shit they were trying to cast shade on Trump because he MIGHT do things; but those things HRC had already done, and more, as Secretary of State. (They still haven't be able to explain why the Clinton Global foundation's donations have dropped to less than 1/7th what they were before Hilary got removed from political office and continue to decline.)

I don't have any issue with "I disagree with Trump on this position or the way he handled that situation", as long as a credible alternative is given.
