Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Uh oh....if they are actively fingerpointing at eachother that suggests the bugmen in the CCP are getting spooked by whatever is happening

Also "DISEASE IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS AND MASKS DO NOT WORK" really isnt a sentence you'd ever want to read
Yeah, usually the Japanese or the Americans would be the scapegoats.

Would not be surprised to hear about Wuhan officials being executed in a few weeks, if they're not already dead.

There was an attempt at a World Record going on in Wuhan right after active cases started appearing, they had like 700k people in a single location to celebrate the New Year. That probably condemned a million to death right there.

Again, good time to start thinking about who's going to replace Pooh Bear. Will it be a Tigger or a Rabbit?

Best ever excuse to quarantine a city, use military and cut off comms and to prevent large gatherings...the award goes to...Hong Kong!!!

I work in one of the biggest and busiest airports in the US.
Our supervisors are telling us to wear gloves and wash our hands after handling each flight, so working in one of the places to be ground zero for infection is going to be fun.
I bet either Delta or Southwest will be the ones to bring in the virus.

Yeah, the fact they are not blaming foreign scapegoats could well suggest they really dont want to piss off outside powers who could give them aid if needed

As for executions and CCP changes in leadership...fucked if I know, I suspect we are gonna need an extra week to get any semblance of a clear picture of the situation enough to make a prediction

maybe this will be a watershed moment in Chinese history
Almost caught up with the thread but I need to get this out because it's been nagging at me.
It isn't just the CCP. This could spell huge geopolitical upheavals. First, all dissident groups in China have opportunities to raise their heads as the state is throwing more and more resources and focus into this mess. HK, Tibet, Falon Gong, Uygurs. China itself could start falling apart. India could fall apart as well, Pakistan too, as they're both just a lot of historical nations and people stitched together, or the conflict between the two can flare up.
Trade can seize almost entirely, as a ton of shit is made in the far east. We could see manufacturing running back to the US with vigor.
This is just prognostication and no one knows what the future will bring but damn the tree of possibilities stemming from this is mind boggling.
Gonna hop to the grocery store and get some dry & canned goods, just in case.

They said in the Chicago conference a few hours ago that it is not communicable during the incubation period which seems to be around two weeks and it becomes transmittable after the symptoms begin. She said it's spread through body fluids like coughing and sneezing and the biggest people at risk are those in close contact with an infected person.

Really fucking hope that's true, and I certainly trust anything the US is saying about this over China.
If it's not contagious during the incubation period then what excuse does China have for it getting to such a point then

So, if they're rolling armored vehicles and HAZMAT troops into the quarantine zones, that makes me think they're being brought in to deal with bodies. WAY more bodies than the 30+ the ChiCom government is willing to admit to.
Watch the videos. The HAZMAT suits are not always HAZMAT suits, some of them are costume outfits.

The Serpentza video is really eye-opening. They are getting videos from friends outside Wuhan where people are falling over in the streets. Considering that's a random, small sample, this is big.

So either

a) Best case scenario they are putting soldiers in fake HAZMAT costumes to try and calm panic among civilians by showing they are taking it seriously
b) Worst case scenario they are so fucking stupid and/or so low on actual HAZMAT suits and likely other epidemic resources that they are slapping soldiers in useless costumes and shipping them out to infected areas.

I'm not an epidemiologist but I thought that most airborne human to human diseases become transmissible during the incubation period.

Take a week off, nigga.

You know I had a really depressing thought

It would legitimately be less dangerous if it was literally a fucking zombie/rage virus since they probably wouldn't be sneezing and would only be able to infect one person at once, the infected would be really easy to spot and identify, and there is zero chance they would spend days or weeks walking through crowds and quietly spreading it around with nobody knowing

People are making a mountain out of a molehill. Its an overglorified SARS virus that's only dangerous if you live in some backwater shithole like China. I seriously doubt this is gonna have any impact whatsoever in civilized countries.

The issue in China comes from not being prepared for something like that more than the virus itself really.
Mutations. Mutations happen at an incredibly wild rate in densely populated areas and China is a very densely populated and filthy area.

Now throw in a mishmash of traditional Squint medicine treatments and you're throwing gasoline on a wildfire. Dense population, improper response action, hysteria, unmonitored travel in pathogen outbreaks...and you got what was originally a sniffle evolves into Captain Trips.

Its a recursive loop and when it looks like it's getting big one can only hope the strain prefers to flare out quickly like Ebola instead of a long incubation period with relatively minor symptom signs. Sadly, if I'm understanding right, it's looking like the latter than the former.

Fucking China, man.
