a) Best case scenario they are putting soldiers in fake HAZMAT costumes to try and calm panic among civilians by showing they are taking it seriously
b) Worst case scenario they are so fucking stupid and/or so low on actual HAZMAT suits and likely other epidemic resources that they are slapping soldiers in useless costumes and shipping them out to infected areas.

My money is on scenario B. The CCP handling of this whole outbreak has been a black comedy so far, they might as well believe costumes are as good as the real thing.

Ya know in light of what looks like the CCP shitting itself in fear and trying to find an internal scapegoat, allow me to repeat my rant from a week ago about "Chernobyl Truths" and the dysfunctional governments and systems that make them inevitable

Allow me to spergulate for a moment

Any authority that has invested enormously in a particular ideology, or has important members who have invested enormously in a particular ideology, will reflexively and almost unconsciously try to deny, downplay, divert blame, and eventually double down any time shit happens that utterly contradicts their ideology and makes it look stupid and horrible to the wider world.

This can be seen with the catholic church and pedophile priests, UK local councils run by self declared diversity and tolerance advocates and migrant child grooming, confederate slavery defenders back in the day and the industrial levels of rape and abuse aimed at slave women and girls, but I think the most useful example of this was when the USSR local and national governments refused to believe that a nuclear reactor at Chernobyl had exploded and was vomiting radioactive waste across the continent, even when they could see the fucking graphite around the plant and the firemen rotting alive from the radiation, even to the point of declaring radiation meters that showed the truth "defective" solely because such a disaster contradicted the official party line of Soviet technology and engineering competence as being "flawless" and the envy of the world.

I like to call shit like this "Chernobyl truths"

Its serious shit that is horrifyingly and egregiously obvious to anybody with any vague knowledge of a subject, hell even your average normie can immediately and accurately tell shit is severely wrong, and yet the powers that be cling to trying to pretend it isnt happening despite how inevitable it is that the truth will eventually come out and utterly destroy the image of whatever ideological narrative they are trying to maintain, because nobody in charge wants to be the one to break ranks and admit that their perfect ideal is even slightly flawed since their colleagues will immidiately turn on them in an orgy of terrified blame shifting and heresy purging, and everyone beneath them goes along with it because they dont want to jeopardise their careers and status.

I wrote a paper not too long ago explaining why a zombie apocalypse would never happen. Its really not hard for military to mow down a herd of slow moving idiots. Yes, an actual outbreak like this is far more dangerous.

This is why I have consistently said that despite how batshit crazy and stupid it got, the Resident Evil series is the only halfway realistic zombie story.

Solely because its the only one where a zombie plague breaks out and the government goes "huh....thats fucking spooky. Better quarantine the whole area, surround it with guns, and once we got as many people out as we can just carpet bomb the whole place" and once this is done they proceed to alert the world of the fact this shit exists and everyone else goes "huh....thats fucking spooky. Better research this shit and train our military/law enforcement in basic countermeasures against this" and since nobody on the planet who isnt a dumb japanese-written villain cliche has any interest in a zombie apocalypse, the nations of the world happily cooperate and are able to successfully contain and eliminate various minor and major outbreaks without much hassle until eventually it just becomes another unpleasant thing that occasionally pops up like terrorism or ebola.

The HAZMAT suits are just costumes. The public health response, right now, is theater. If they took people's health seriously, they would have gotten their shit together immediately.

Wuhan is home to the equivalent of Fort Deitrick. That lab holds viruses that could wipe out millions. It's inexcusable to let things go on like this.
