Not only is Chihiro a guy, his whole backstory is nearly verbatim a typical transbackstory, in that he got bullied so much for not being manly enough that he decided to present as a girl to stop the bullying and stayed in his room to become a programmer. Aside from the obvious point that the drugs are far from harmless, why would it be a good idea as a whole to push a time of physical and emotional immaturity past the point of legal responsibility? Instead of minors doing their growing up and learning to handle themselves while still under their parents' care, let's delay the stressful biological process of growing up until they're also expected to support themselves and act like adults.

So, unavoidable harm done in order to create a generation of even more unstable and immature adults. Sounds like a great idea.

If they're not ready for it now, they literally never will be because they don't have the brain to fully understand puberty, and the only way for them to would be to undergo puberty come good or bad. You can't explain what big life changes are to people through theoretics, you have to get their boots on the ground and let them see concretely what life is like, but by that point it's too late.

You could literally take this concept and apply it to things like learning to walk and being weaned off breast millk. Both are stressful processes for a child and before they learn to master the mechanics of walking or eating solids, there will be pain and discomfort. Kids will expect to be carried even though they're more than ready to walk on their own. Same with eating solids. Should we postpone them artificially as well because the child "isn't read for the changes"?

Taken even further, should we find a way to keep a newborn hooked to its mother's circulation post-birth so that they won't have to go through the very stressful change of having to use their own lungs to breathe?
