I think what is more likely is he is regaining sensation to intact nerves as a result of reduced swelling. Mild PL - I had a nerve disorder, and had to have a tumor removed. In the area around the surgery, the nerves were doing something, not sure what, but I didn't have feeling in the area for ages, and sometimes if you pressed on part of it, it would feel like it was a bit to the left?

Ive had a nerve injury before due to trauma on the area. It took approximately 5 years to regain full sensation. At first it was numb - I could feel pressure on the area but no real touch sensation. Pain and temperature feelings took a solid 3 years to return. Touch sensation returned last, and very slowly. I couldn't stand anything on the area as it was incredibly disconcerting to know something was there (due to the pressure) but not be able to tell what it was as all other sensation was missing.
