Second item came in today, didn't say where, though (can't read the language if it was listed). Starting the second clock since it doesn't look like anything came out of the first. (Yeah, lifespan of five days on surfaces, but you never know.)

oh boy...

2019-nCoV infection associated with high mortality

I'm not one for conspiracies and I don't see if they broke down the deaths by sex. If I'm reading right 41 People in the study, 30 Men - 11 Women. Of the 30 Men, 11 in ICU and of the 11 Woman, 2 in ICU. Of those who ended up in ICU, 5 Died. Which given it was more men who ended up in ICU you could make a safe assumption most of those who died were probably male? It really seems wild that you'd have a virus that from what we currently know seems to affect people of Asian backgrounds harder and from the results from this particular piece, more common in males.

In a country that is Asian and has a cultural bias against women, with a preference for male children.

IMO. If this was something that escaped from one of their own labs how do you mess up so badly as to make your own people and the preferred gender of those people be the hardest hit. It it was spontaneous from their gross habits IDK but whatever great cosmic being you believe in woke up and decided fuck you in particular today China.

Are men more likely to be smokers than women in China? That could affect the outcomes. Anyway:

Every hospital in England is being asked to create "priority assessment pods" for patients with suspected coronavirus, the NHS has said.

Patients who are concerned they may have the virus are still advised to isolate themselves and call 111.

But the contingency measure is intended to prevent any patients who do arrive at hospital from mixing with vulnerable patients.

The secure areas are expected to be introduced by Friday.

In China, 490 people have died and 24,300 people have been confirmed to have contracted the new virus. It has now spread to 25 nations, with two cases in the UK.

The new measure means that A&E departments will be able to direct people who think they have symptoms of the coronavirus to a pod away from other patients, where they can call specialist NHS 111 teams on a dedicated phone.

An NHS spokeswoman said: "Anyone with a cough, fever, or shortness of breath who attends hospital and has recently returned from China will be advised to follow signs to NHS 111 pods and call for advice, so they stay isolated from other patients and avoid causing unnecessary pressure in A&E."

BBC health correspondent Nick Triggle said the NHS is aware people may not always follow the advice to self-isolate if the virus starts to spread across England.

The pods are meant to protect others using the hospitals - who may have vulnerable immune systems.

"The problem hospitals face is where to create these pods. There is not lots of spare space on many sites to house coronavirus patients and building separate facilities may not be practical," he said.

Since the virus has spread overseas, 25 nations have confirmed a total of 191 cases, although there has been only one death so far, in the Philippines.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak a global health emergency.

On Tuesday, the Foreign Office advised all UK citizens to leave China if possible, to minimise the risk of exposure to the virus.

Two flights from Wuhan, where the virus is thought to have originated, have brought 94 Britons and their family members back to the UK so far.

They are now in quarantine at Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral for 14 days - the incubation period of the virus - to ensure they are not infected.

A further eight UK nationals and six of their family members left on a flight to New Zealand on Tuesday, and the Foreign Office is chartering a final repatriation flight on Sunday, to allow remaining Britons to leave Hubei province in China.

The Foreign Office said there were between 150 and 200 UK citizens and their dependents remaining in this part of China, and about 100 of them have asked for help to leave.

Another British man, David Abel, is in quarantine on a cruise ship docked in the Japanese port of Yokohama after a passenger from Hong Kong fell ill with the virus.

At least 10 people on board the ship, the Diamond Princess, have since tested positive for the virus.

Two people in the UK - a student at the University of York and one of their relatives - have been confirmed to have coronavirus and are being treated at the specialist infectious diseases unit at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The Department of Health and Social Care said 466 people have tested negative for the virus.

The coronavirus causes severe acute respiratory infection and symptoms usually start with a fever, followed by a dry cough.

Most people infected are likely to fully recover - just as they would from flu.

To go with Zach Vorhees excellent analysis, China is now saying the US released the coronavirus as a bioweapon.

English translation begins at line 61.

"I believe and have compelling circumstantial reason to believe that the American CIA injected and planted the so-called 'Wuhan virus' into Wuhan, China in or around the dates of October 31st 2019 and December 31st 2019 with intent to harm China and with potential to destablize and perhaps even motive to collapse China from within."

Highlights:

- US wants to keep it's supply chains
- The virus was released right after the trade deal
- The Swine Flu was a dry run
- Only targets ethnic Han, white people don't care about it
- China needs a deterrence plan
- End of the petrodollar hegemony
- Blowback, collateral risk are minimal with this vector of attack
- The US is bad
- It's probably war
- Everyone is saying mean things about China

Summary:

Interesting read, nothing other people haven't said already but notable for scope and breadth.

The political and economic focus puts this purely in the realm of propaganda, it's clearly produced for Western audiences. The specific officials cited are highly polarizing in the US but almost completely unknown to the public in Asia / the South Pacific. A Stylometric analysis of the original text would probably reveal common authorship with other letters, but I'm not set up to do that.

I took from this much will be made about the fact coronachan doesn't have much impact on Westerners. That doesn't exactly prove anything, but it's certainly a great jumping off point for conspiracy theorists.

My money is still on the idea China obtained lab samples from Canada, tested them on pigs, a dimwit sold diseased pigs to a wet market and chaos ensued. Whether the US could engineer that by letting it happen, maybe? It would be easier to accept if people in China washed their hands and didn't hate doctors.
Is there any evidence that whites are more resistant besides that one non-peer reviewed study with only one Asian man and 2 white women (plus 5 blacks) in the sample (which also found that women have a lower ACE2 percentage than men)?

I suspect that the abstract of that study was written to support the later accusation by Chinese propagandists that this was an anti-Chinese bioweapon. Blame it all on the evil foreigners rather than the incompetent government. They state that 3x more men are infected than women, and that men have more ACE2 receptors than women. But when they compare ACE2 counts based on race they don't bother controlling for sex despite the fact that the only Asian sample is male, both white samples are female and 4/5 black samples are women.

I wonder if this will affect the Olympics in Japan?

(Inb4 Coronachan enters japan with a torchbearer.)
Knowing japanese degeneracy and dislike of china Corona-chan might be the torch bearer. We just need a cute enough Hololive avatar to make it happen.

There is a reputable study from 2005 saying SARS targeted ACE2 https://science.sciencemag.org/content/309/5742/1864.full which is why I keep pointing out that this is normal and not proof of bioengineering. I don't recall any study about SARS affecting asians more or not, but I'd say that's how to find out.

Male privilege strikes again. Close the Corona-gap!

If those Tencent numbers are real, it's horrifying and, as sad as it sounds, we can only pray for the Chinese because none of us should remotely approach them. Again, it's sad, but we are not going to put our people in danger.

Watch some nutcase claim the chink body smog cured them of all disease so they'll start using each other for the traditional Chinese medicine bullshit instead of other species at the brink of extinction.

The irony here is that the Chinese are the ones at the brink of extinction now.

Plot Twist: Trump ordered the virus to be created, knowing china would steal like they do any bit of US science/tech, but made sure they didnt know it only killed chinks, and from there he simply let nature and Chinese incompetence take its course...

I wouldn't completely rule this out.

it's not like they're putting you in prison, you get free food, rest and probably free internet and other entertainment while there and if it turns out you're infected you are in the most safe place possible and able to get help + you aren't risking other peoples lives.
honestly can't understand these selfish exceptional cunts

Yeah, especially after reading about that Peruvian student in Wuhan saying he doesn't want to go back home yet because he doesn't want to put the country in danger.

on a related point, if you guys see this on biorxiv:

you need to be able to read the article critically. or if you lack the background to be able to do that, wait until there's more consensus before touting something around as fact. there have been a number of trash articles written about wuflu at this point. I think the most noteworthy was when some Chinese scientists tried to purport that a zoonotic coronavirus was transferred to us from snakes. That one was actually even peer-reviewed iirc, though I think the journal admitted that they "expediated" the process for them.

Dunno, academia is afraid to piss off China so we gotta doubt them.

Gonna be honest, before all this shit started, i seen a few videos here and there of chinese labour "accidents" and wondered why they were sometimes so stupid or simple common sense defying, But this series of event playing like a mile long domino fall opened my eyes about the reality of the chinese education / brainwashing "model" that creates little servile people that "may" be average to very good in one department and one only, but are incompetent or clueless in approximatively all of the rest...

It's like they are programmed for one thing, and are uneducated or stupid for basic things like all usual rules of hygiene we know in the west and developped from actually learning from past diseases / mistakes and all things affecting possibly your health, we still have this in mind and take precautions everyday or are at least conscious of them in one way or another, it's like chinese lack common sense thinking and problem solving for so many other areas in their life because they are just educated for one or two purposes... Or have a limited set of skills...

This is beginning to stare me in the face with wide open eyes.

For Chinese, acting stupid is actually survival trait, I am 100% serious and not even joking this time - anyone too smart or educated got killed by Mao, stupid peasants and few smart ones who twigged to the fact and knew how to put on an act survived. This has changed, but getting rid of decades of programming and generational trauma takes time.

You know what's worse than "Racism" that is supposed to be worse than the actual virus ?

Chinese Government-spread anti americanism accusing the U.S. of being behind all of it creeping up in china. :story:

You can't get any leftists reporting on this one anytime soon haha.
