Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

That reminds me of how someone proposed that RT firing Vic was really because they couldn’t afford him even before the storm hit.
I think that's one reason why so many people left and are leaving RT to do their own work. They found that they could make more money elsewhere. Several have and are making the switch to Twitch, Cowchop has I think already dissolved, but that has more to do with James leaving.
Then how the fuck did they manage to get Cristina Vee?

I think Ray Naravez, Jr. was the first real big RT person to strike it out on their own.
All of the major Achievement Hunter figures have their own YouTube channels (except Geoff Ramsey, I believe) to fall back on should they leave. Or at least migrate to Twitch like Ray, GameAtttack, and the guys from Funhaus that left.
You only need to look at Comicsgate to see the success people can achieve outside the mainstream/on their own. And thats even when you include the Renfamous and Anti-CG types spewing the BS like a manure spreader.

EVS was the only "name' guy. Zak and Malin had some lesser notriaty. Guys like Cecil, Clint Stoker etc were first timers. Hell even Tug made bank because they all promoted the hell out of themselves to their audiences and built new ones. There is no reason that VAs with some work under their belts can't easily copy the formula. But they will have to accept that they will get their own blowback from the mainstream they left, and their own "Antis" that will get assmad over meaningless crap.

IIRC, most voice actors don't really do group recording sessions, though maybe I'm wrong in this instance
All American dub actors do not do group recording sessions.

Other media with real budgets like any trash FOX still airs all regularly have group recording sessions. The only exception to this rule are like big budget animated movies which are filled with celebrity voices who do not have the money or time to properly schedule group sessions.

In fact, even Japan has group recording sessions for anime unlike their inferior American counterparts.

"A convention, and fat girls are boycotting?! I'm there!"

I don't quite understand how people can be so stubbornly incorrect about things too.

- It's a fan/comic convention, not an anime convention
- The cosplayer broke the terms of the non-disparagement agreement
- No mention of suing the cosplayer was ever relayed
- The convention isn't being paid-for or hosted by the City
- Nick was invited because he's a prominent media personality, literally nothing to do with anime
- Literally nobody has ever reported any sexual harassment at any event
- The convention doesn't advertise non-participants

The list goes on, and on

It's easy to understand. Hoes be mad. All it comes down to is they have an agenda. That agenda says that any con that goes against hoes edicts will be dragged until dead. The eternal mistake people make is trying to understand the ideas and actions of crazy people. Just understand that crazy people act like crazy people and accept that it's crazy when you see it happen.

Then you either ignore or take action to dissuade them from further crazy depending on how much damage they do.

I kind of feel bad for any sane cosplayers that are out there. I mean, law of averages suggests there have to be at least a couple that aren't narcissistic harpies. But after a year of this and years of seeing a sampling of these people over in our Beauty Parlor, if I were running a convention I'd be tempted to just ban cosplay altogether. It seems like some of the worst, most toxic things in the community involve this particular subset of attendees.

It's extremely telling that they have moved away from engaging us directly, and instead are going around us now

Really is a shame they're burning through this controvery's life cycle so quickly

AFAIK, there is a group of cosplayers that are putting their foot down. We've received multiple messages from cosplayers who have received threats of physical violence for attending or supporting our event.

We can't really do anything to stop that, but we're supporting and fighting alongside those cosplayers that choose to stand against the mob.

They don't like the blowback when they can't spin it to their advantage. They have burned so many bridges that have to try new tactics to reclaim the power they think they 'own'. But now that they are taking their online games deep into the real world, they are opening up a bigger can of worms on themselves than they can ever hope to handle.

EDIT

AND make sure those cosplayers
ALL send copies to the police, THROUGH THE CON.

Just been looking at twitter about the con. Made me want to blow my brains out

These people are sick and never have had social interaction

A peck on the cheek for them is molestation these people have single handily ruined the entire convention scene for fan interactions

Our media manager has been asking them to send any and all communications they get that are threatening or whatnot to us so we can take the proper steps. We only have one DM where someone literally threatened a rape fantasy on someone's girlfriend for supporting the convention.

If that is their standard, conventions wouldn't have any guests

Whatever they send, absolutely have it filed with the police in whatever 'official' capacity/however it works up there. It puts them in the 'federal offense' category here as it crossed state lines and I'm sure it is similar there. But these things have...HAVE to go on record so that any future legislation has a basis to draw from, even if nothing else comes out of it.

That is a good theory. RT may have started restricting projects which annoyed people.

My point being that RT has pressure from above to cut people while pressure from below from people who want to do their own projects. Not a good place.

And then....there was Gen Lock.
Then how the fuck did they manage to get Cristina Vee?
Simple. Christina Vee was hanging around the studio one day.

Agreed. We're taking things case-by-case. The local PD here won't really do anything unless it presents as a plausible threat and or imminent threat. So, we gotta pick our battles.

The convention is better than what our local ones have become so I'd go to it if it wasn't on the opposite side of the country. I could also visit Chinatown and see if this one shop is still around to get some goods from Japan, and this one comic store near Much Music that was in the basement of this one store and buy some stuff from them, I should be able to walk around between all of the boxes and shit now, unless they cleaned up. Their walls and floors were stuffed with stock.

Understandable, can't have the bluebloods chasing everything.

I'm positive that eventually one of these idiots will call in a bomb threat or something and give a nice mugshot to put a face on this lunacy.
