Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The horrific animal abuse I keep seeing posted makes me rethink my earlier post. I think I might be rooting for the virus now.

More on the topic I have family that lives in the part of Ontario where the evacuees from China are being quarantined (Trenton). One of the local hospitals has a sign on the doors that if you've visited that part of China and are feeling sick you should put a mask on and gloves. They had an empty mask box on top of the sign, no gloves anywhere to be found, and all the antibacterial dispensers they checked were empty. Not feeling that confident in our health care system currently.

One of the 8 doctors/experts arrested for "spreading rumours" by Wuhan officials is said to have died of the virus.
"He's a hero, also a victim, RIP".
(before the virus became irreversible, Wuhan officials decided to arrest 8 medical experts for spreading rumours of a "virus that's similar to SARS, of course it didn't age well)

There's a lot of new stuff too. The death toll is going to exceed SARS, and this stupidity.

Officials of Dali expropriated masks that were supposed to be sent to Chongqi officials in a virus combat effort. Politicians in charge were sacked.
According to Chinese law, when there's a widespread virus, the officials are indeed allowed to seize medical goods proportionally without consent and with reparation (yeah, they will pay for it, you just don't get to say no). I was told that all countries have such laws... yeah I can't find much info.
Basically "state sanctioned robbery gone wrong".

People are also increasingly pissed at ambiguous rumour laws. This kind of stupid law is the catalyst of the virus after all.
"If the officials want to label stuff as rumours, they must back it up with solid proof, or else that act in itself is a rumour".

There's lots of typical China news, such as Weibo being censorship happy, someone killed himself because there's no place for him to say and the police told people to not post it online... that worked. Lots of short clips of hospitals and shit.

Then of course schools opted for online streaming of classes, which brings us this:
1581001907938.png

"Good thing about streamed classes is that I can masturbate to the teacher I like"

Detained for 5 days for wanting employees to work earlier.

Another rumour was dispelled, there is "no proof that pets will get the virus from humans". I did talk about some people killing their own pets and some idiot burying a bunch alive which made the pet owners mad. All this is due to some female medical "expert" being a typical retard.

HK medical staff are still on their fun strikes. Stupid memes are still being created. Many cities have now introduced extra Winter Holiday homework for the youth, it's getting called a "free DLC" on Chinanet which is funny.

Not much is happening. Just people dropping dead due to the virus, the usual stuff.

There's this too:

24589 dead?
This is inspect element. If it's true, where's all the video clips of medical professionals handling dead bodies, 25k is a massive amount of corpses.

Burying cats alive will surely end the corona crisis! Said absolutely nobody with a functioning frontal cortex, which apparently is a disqualifier for being part of any PRC authority.
Anyone who called the quarantine a death camp were right.

God, they are so monumentally fucked-up and useless. i'm waiting for the mob to have had enough of this shit and start beating officials to death.

Not sure this video has been posted yet...

State Media on Current Containment Measures: Interview With Lead Scientist Wang Chen

It was live yesterday evening on CCTV 13 (China's newschannel).

1. The situation is grave. A new diagnostic class "clinically diagnosed" (those showing clinical symptoms but without RNA test) is added to facilitate access to treatment.
2. 11 new container hospitals will provide patients with light symptoms with limited medical care but better containment. Real hospitals will be used for serious cases (confirmed or suspected).
3. Suspected patients will stay in single rooms in container hospitals. Infected patients will stay in open-air beds.
4. They don't know how many are actually infected. The officially reported number is just the new test results. 5. Gilead's medicine has shown the most promise. But it still requires clinical trials. 6. They can't estimate when the turning point will be.

The whole channel has interesting videos, most have English subtitles.

True, there isn't a video explicitly showing 25k bodies stacked, but there are plenty of clips to support that the number is much higher than 500. Found these in a 10 minute search, who knows how many there are.

Here's the law, I'll try my best to translate it:
《传染病防治法》第45条规定,“传染病暴发、流行时,根据传染病疫情控制的需要,国务院有权在全国范围或者跨省、自治区、直辖市范围内,县级以上地方人民政府有权在本行政区域内紧急调集人员或者调用储备物资,临时征用房屋、交通工具以及相关设施、设备。紧急调集人员的,应当按照规定给予合理报酬。临时征用房屋、交通工具以及相关设施、设备的,应当依法给予补偿;能返还的,应当及时返还。”
"Infectious virus law", #45: During the outbreak and spread of infectious viruses, according to the needs in order to control the virus, the state has the rights to deploy people and good, temporarily acquire housing, transportation tools, as well as related infrastructure, equipment, across the entire nation. This right also applies county level government officials and their corresponding area of rule. When people are deployed in an emergency, adequate compensation must be given to them. When housing, transport, related infrastructure and equipment are expropriated, compensation must be provided by law; if such items can be returned, it must be returned as soon as possible.

I have a hard translating medical/law babble, which are usually written in an autistically formal manner.

So it basically says this...
When there's an infectious virus:
- Central government can take stuff that's needed to combat the virus
- Owner will be compensated
- County governments have the same rights over their own area

So the government of Dali did break the law. They seized parcels that didn't belong to residents of the city, which subsequently makes compensation near impossible for those owners who reside outside of the city.

From what I've seen, there are people being compensated. One is required to show proof of purchase, and they will be compensated. Quite surprising, I'd expect the state to just seize the items and I doubt many would care/dare to question anyway. I guess Mao is indeed long gone.

Here's what I found on Chinese gov's English site.
Article 1 This Law is enacted, in accordance wi9th the Constitution, for the purpose of preventing, controlling and eliminating occupational disease hazards, preventing and controlling occupational diseases, protecting the health and related rights an interests of workers, and promoting the development of the economy.

Article 2 This Law is applicable to activities conducted within the territory of the People’s Republic of China to prevent and control occupational diseases.

The occupational diseases mentioned in this Law refer to the diseases contracted by the workers of enterprises, institutions and household economic organizations (hereinafter all are referred to as the employer) due to their exposure in the course of work to dusts, radioactive substances and other toxic and harmful substances, etc.

The categories and catalogue of occupational diseases shall be arranged, readjusted and published by the administrative department together with the administrative department for occupational security under the State Council.

Article 3 In prevention and control of occupational diseases, the principle of putting prevention first and combining prevention with controlling shall be upheld, and the diseases shall be controlled under different categories and dealt with in an all-round way.

Article 4 The workers enjoy the right to occupational health protection.

Of course the actual number is higher. I've explained this earlier.
Here's how it's gathered:
Hospitals report numbers to county/low level officials
Low level officials report numbers to higher level officials, that of the province level or a nearby major city
Then the province level officials gather the numbers and send it off to the state which releases them

It's the typical "roundoff error", however in this case, people can lie.

So basically hospitals can lie to officials to make the situation look less severe, county level officials can lie to province level officials to make themselves look better.
Province level officials lying would be stupid, but they can too.

There's plenty of clips showing body bags and stuff. The actual number is likely 800-1000 if I were to guess. Double what the officials claim.

Probably not true though. 20k is a lot of people. Even if they've got the crematoriums going and giant field pyres I doubt it would be enough.
Yeah, and let alone their families.
So the commies just pulled 13k bodies to some field to oven up, what about their families?
It's definitely higher than 500, but unless there's proof, I'm not buying these 12k 25k numbers. Just think about the logistics required.

If this was true, after the virus, we'd be seeing many families ask about missing people. Now people are isolated and scattered.

I am apathetic on just how many Chinese are dead but if I wanted to get rid of a bunch of bodies quickly I would use a steel plant or something similar.
Good thing there's not a major steel company based in Wuhan or anything.

So, what should I make of this situation as far as doing something to prepare? I believe the state I'm in has 1 person who is sick. I don't live in a major metro area, but a medium but spread out city with no huge buildings, just houses and businesses. I thought about getting provisions so that I can not worry if more people stampede Walmart and shit (not that I have to worry about this, as I hurl expensive organic shit into my cart from elsewhere). Thought about getting staple rice, cans of soup and things, and stuff that will keep that will be undoubtedly and utterly healthy. I can get a gallon of apple cider vinegar to buttchug, and high, HIGH antioxidant, premium Japanese matcha powder to add to boring water for both healthy caffeine and free radical fighting power. Perhaps gallons of water? I mean, most people aren't going to want the shit I buy if they deign to jump me, (as my diet is mostly this shit ordinarily, I am immune to blandness and the sensation that I have just swallowed scorpion bile ducts) but I think if the panic of the habbening occurs, then it will be a mild one where store shelves get cleared, but not to the extent as in 'Patlabor 2'(electric blimp boogaloo). I wonder if I should sperg out for jumbo batteries or masks, or whatever else, because I worry about being able to run appliances or juice beets, and I'm assuming a mask is just delaying the inevitable if in fact it grows larger.

Anyway, don't no what to do, or how to feel. Does anyone want to internet hug me? And, also, I've had sinus/head/nasal/sputum stuff, and didn't feel too bad, just felt kinda bad and then it got better. I have some stuffy head symptoms still, but this new, weak, floaty head kind of feeling is creeping on me. Forgetting some things too. Not sure what it is, but it's weird. Thinking about just calling doctor and asking if I should be seen if it doesn't stop. Feel generally normal, however. But, with some of the current subject matter taken into consideration, perhaps if I got the corona, it might not have affected me terribly, just is lingering. (You don't have to give me any advice, as I know you are not doctors, but maybe someone has a thought about it).

Itchy, tasty.

A Chinese doctor who tried to issue the first warnings about the deadly coronavirus outbreak has died of the infection, Chinese media say.

Li Wenliang was working as an ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital when he sent out a warning to fellow medics on 30 December.

Police then visited him to tell him to stop, as authorities tried to keep the news under wraps.

The virus has now killed more than 560 people and infected 28,000 in China.

The coronavirus causes severe acute respiratory infection and symptoms usually start with a fever, followed by a dry cough. Most people infected are likely to fully recover - just as they would from a flu.

What is Li Wenliang's story?
The ophthalmologist posted his story on the Weibo site from a hospital bed a month after sending out his initial warning.

Dr Li, 34, had noticed seven cases of a virus that he thought looked like Sars - the virus that led to a global epidemic in 2003.

On 30 December he sent a message to fellow doctors in a chat group warning them to wear protective clothing to avoid infection.

Four days later he was summoned to the Public Security Bureau where he was told to sign a letter. In the letter he was accused of "making false comments" that had "severely disturbed the social order".

He was one of eight people who police said were being investigated for "spreading rumours"

Local authorities later apologised to Dr Li.

In his Weibo post he describes how on 10 January he started coughing, the next day he had a fever and two days later he was in hospital. He was diagnosed with the coronavirus on 30 January.

A number of posts on Chinese social media sites have expressed grief over his death.

Most of the coronavirus victims were over the age of 60 or suffered from other medical conditions, according to China's health authorities. Dr Li's medical history is not known.

What is the latest on the virus in China?
China is introducing more restrictive measures to try to control the outbreak.

Beijing has banned group dining for events such as birthdays and weddings while cities such as Hangzhou and Nanchang are limiting how many family members can leave home each day.

Hubei province, the worst hit by the virus, has switched off lifts in high-rise buildings to discourage residents from going outside.

Its capital, Wuhan, has a lack of beds and equipment, one senior city official said. Despite the rapid construction of two hospitals, the volume of patients is causing severe strain.

Reports on social media say the Wuhan government is to carry out door-to-door temperature checks on residents.

The city of Dali in Yunnan province was accused of requisitioning a shipment of masks bound for Chongqing. Dali's government said it could not do anything as the boxes had already been distributed.

The cities of Qingdao and Shenyang also reportedly squabbled over a medical shipment.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong has seen panic buying of goods, including toilet rolls, and there have been huge queues for masks.

What has the response been to the crackdowns?
Human Rights Watch has criticised them, saying China was "treating public health with a sledgehammer".

Executive director Kenneth Roth said China had suppressed reports in the early days of the outbreak and clamped down on criticism of its handling of the crisis.

"There's no place for secrecy in fighting an epidemic," he said.

Although he praised Beijing for quickly sharing the DNA sequence of the virus, he attacked the lockdowns policy.

Media captionThe BBC's online health editor on what we know about the virus
"Quarantines of this sort typically don't work. Quarantines, the kind that public health officials advocate, are much more targeted. They're aimed at people who have been identified as having the virus," he said.

Mr Roth said there were "huge gaps" in getting people fed, housed and treated.

Chinese officials have strongly defended their approach.

The latest figure to speak out was the Chinese ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, who said the government was doing everything it could to control, prevent and cure the coronavirus.

But he also said the UK had overreacted by advising an estimated 30,000 British nationals in China to leave and that there had been discrimination against Chinese nationals in the UK.

What's the latest on infections?
Although the virus has spread overseas, with confirmed infection in some 25 nations, there have so far been only two deaths outside mainland China - one in Hong Kong and one in the Philippines.

The World Health Organization has declared a global health emergency, saying if funds are not allocated now to tackle the outbreak, nations would pay for it later.

Although the official figures in China are of 28,000 infections, some scientists have estimated that the actual rate could be 10 times higher, with the majority of infected people only presenting mild symptoms, not receiving treatment, yet passing on the potentially deadly disease.

Scoreboard: high score is now JAPAN!

Buy unscented bleach to drink-

Download and print instructions on how to field dress an animal carcass-

Buy a shotgun and some ammo or if you are poor at least a bow.

Find out the locations of the closest distribution centers for stores such as Walmart and shipping hubs like Amazon.
If it goes tits up run to the D.C.'s first before their employees steal their stock while the dummies are rioting at the stores.
Bring a crowbar and bolt cutters to go in the back way or via a loading dock door, avoid the front entrances like they are a faggot rapist with AIDS.
