Romney is the purest distillate of a NeoCon, someone who lacks the spine to actually come out hard against bullshit. He’s the type of political ladder-climber that the adage “radicals are in the business of making mistakes and conservatives are in the business of making sure they’re never undone” is all about. Romney is the fat kid your mom makes you take for your team and they think it’s a victory to scoop him?

LoL at “not exonerated in the eyes of the American people” though. MSNBC dropped its coverage of the trial for soaps because people cared so little, it hurt their ratings.

If I might speculate as a clueless outsider, I strongly suspect that aside from one hell of a grudge against flumpf, Romney is motivated by this delusional fantasy of becoming the "natural choice of leader when the republicans finally come to their senses and throw off Trumpist populism" and hopes that by whining about Trump loudly enough and kowtowing to the democrats he can build up an image of a "principled moderate" that will finally get the respect he deserves from the mainstream media

Obviously....this is hilariously fucking stupid, but he still thinks that doing what his PR team tell him to will magically start working any day now, so he keeps grovelling to his enemies and hissing at those who he thinks he is entitled to have as allies

It's been lots of fun watching the Dems go from "this will be the end of Trump" to "lol the goal was never to remove him from office you dumb fascist, we just wanted to prove how broken the system was, we still win, ha ha ha suck my dick".

If they were asked to name any "fascists", the reaction would be *cricket noises*

You know, if any president were to become a dictator... we could do a LOT worse than Trump.

So this is eyerolling in a few ways.1: Not even VAGUELY true, 2: Not the worst thing that could happen anyway, and 3: Well... if you are someone, like me, who supports removing the presidential term limits and sticking to what we had with a general tradition of leaving office after 2... well, this doesn't really hit.

Dictator Trump would be absolutely terrible for America long term. And I don't mean in a screeching way like a thread shitter does.

What I mean is Trump is a singular leader who actually gives a fuck about the country and the people in it. He's not out for self enrichment, or (solely) to feed his ego or his appetite for power. And when you have a leader like that, people tend them too much power: "It's fine, He'll never abuse it". And often they don't. But then the guy who comes after them does, or the system gets built assuming that someone with the charisma or connections of the current leader will always be there, and when its not,

Term limits protect a country against the long term ills of having a good leaders much more than they protect against the ills of having bad ones; the 2nd amendment ensures the people are protected against bad leaders.

Grieving Dad's death then changing it around to sound "woke" and make it about themselves.. would you expect anything less?
/r/politics is having a nice little meltdown right now, to the tune of hundreds of posts every minute on Trump's acquittal, and Bernie getting fucked by coin tosses. It's literally impossible to read posts faster than they get created. Wild. There is somehow more butthurt, seethe and cope right now, in the fucking primaries, then there was on election day 2016.

I'm going to make a bold claim right now: Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 will be the largest case of mass hysteria in the history of the world.

The entirety of Plebbit may just pull a 41%, or maybe they're working on it.

A lack of term limits is arguably why American politics is so fucked right now. Most of the people there have been there since before I was born. I don’t think half of them know what the world outside of DC looks like anymore.
