Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I have content providers and some of them are in Eastern Europe/Asia. Because of China's Big brother policy we say very little on certain matters. Just what kind of content work that needs to be created. This is a part of what he posted to me today after a long pause of communication.

"situation was getting quite paranoic inside China, so I managed to get a flight back to Spain "

He's fine, So yes things have gone real bad. China has already started set up their scapegoats.

One of them will be foreigners. Because that is the Chinese way. Blame everyone else and take no responsibility for their actions.

Update: This looks like some of the videos already seen in one hospital as well a man stating that this is not a hospital.

So what you guys think is in this thing?

Archinkthas : The city must be purged !

Looks like they are having a party. No fun like poisoning your neighbhors with an unknown chemical clearly designed to kill a virus, but what else can it kill ? Is it safe to breathe ? From these people wearing all kind of masks, i would say no. But it's not like the air pollution is already off the charts in China, so, a little bit of this, and a little bit of that, adding a little more to it can't be more DEADLY than the coronavirus already in full spread in the air over there !

The people spraying it are also trying to avoid staying in it, should say something !

And to think we are banning the use of aerosol in the west to close the "ozone" holes, when China clearly innovates by trying it's best to create all the conditions necessary to have a 2 layer ozone vaccum of opposite polarity in their own country by giving birth to an ozone layer at the ground level so they can live in mid atmospheric half gravity !

(So they can send coronavirus infected in outer space faster)

You don't know anything about Chinese's 5000 year old science.

Windy.com has a live SO2 map:

Also this...

This doesn't make any sense if you think about it. The city isn't dead, it's winter and everyone is indoors by law with heaters probably on 24/7 (China has centralised heaters), as opposed to the usual routine of work and going outside and having the heater on for maybe 8 or 10 hours.

Generation of electricity from non-renewable sources (coal, gas etc) also produces SO2. I'm willing to argue that being a neet produces more pollution in such a case.

1300? Yeah, I'm not buying it. Windy's numbers are very similar to aqicn.org.

The region seems to average at around 250.

Wuhan and surroundings outdo Shanghai by a factor of 3.

I have no idea how they got the 1300 something. Does Windy.com keep historic data that can be found somewhere and viewed? Or is the person who captured it there at the right moment?

Then basing China off Gmaps is very stupid. I did that several years back. It showed rivers and shit while all I can see were roads. Gmaps doesn't work for China.

About 120km by car. 2 hours is doable.

Yeah, this isn't "a field", not anymore at least.

Look, CCP is definitely hiding the actual numbers whether they want to or not, the numbers they claim are lower than reality. Chinese politicians will lie about the numbers to make their district look less severe, 500 is far from accurate. Even if the CCP wants to be 100% transparent, nobody should trust their numbers because the likely millions of hospitals, many of which will for sure lie about it, the lie just gets amplified again and again. It's well above that, I won't be surprised if it's 1000 or even 1500.

If you look on controlled sites such as the baidu tieba for each city with a major outbreak, everything is censored. No one is allowed to comment, and really there's only good news being posted. Sino weibo is different, so is Tencent QQ and Wechat, where censorship isn't as intuitive.

If I was to speculate, assuming someone didn't just inspect element the windy.com number (it's doable), I'm guessing it's just a glitch. When the bushfires were rampant in NSW, I was constantly tracking the air quality. I did see the number bounce to >999, I also saw areas totally unaffected by the bushfires have >999.

Just look at this, I just screenshotted it:

Would be great if there's a way to find historical trends on windy.com. There definitely is, I just couldn't find it.

Here's a video why the government approved mapping services or in accurate.

If you want a more accurate map of China please use OSM (open street maps) which is the main mapping system that the citizens of the PRC use.

I hope he lives but at the same time I'm pretty amazed they didn't kill him and chalk it up to the disease anyway. The article does say they're trying to \resuscitate him/ bad translation? or is he actually brain-dead and it's a matter of semantics?
Are you familiar with the legend of El Cid?

tl;dr, it was a great Spaniard Lord who defended his lands from the Muslims. He died when an arrow hit him, but he had ordered his men to put him into battle anyway. So, they put his body on top of his horse, dress him with his armor, and went to battle with him. They won.

Thanks for being a voice of reason. Too many people are accepting worst case scenarios without challenging any of it. I'm sure that it is an absolute nightmare in China, but some people are acting like they are giddy for an actual 'happening' to go global. It's quite disgusting TBH.

It seems china is under reporting

Lets have a bit of fun looking at the economic impacts of this so far.

1. Airlines are fucked. Virtually all mainland airlines have put their foreign pilots on mandatory unpaid leave until... who the fuck knows. HKs Cathay Pacific has done the same and is cancelling ~90% of their mainland flights over the next 2 months.

2. 174 Billion worth of liquidity has already been injected into the market . Expect a lot more in the coming weeks. Also companies have started issuing bonds to help them get through this.

3. Foxconn is saying production wont resume for at least a few weeks, and their sales growth estimates for the year have been cut by 2% to the 1-3% range. Apple is probably the best known foxconn contract, but they have also made shit for nintendo/microsoft/sony and pretty much every other big name consumer electronics brand. Analyist are estimating that the new iphone launch will be delayed by a few weeks - insert satania gif here-

4. There are also a couple big LCD makers in the wuhan area. Other phones might be delayed or have price increases.

5. Rail traffic is about 25% of what it normally is at this time. It's not just the airlines getting fucked.

6. Some bigwig chinese economist estimates that most small and medium firms can only handle about a month of this. Some just getting by are almost certainly toast already.

7. Oxford estimates 5.4% GDP growth for the year, while their prior estimate was 6%. Make a guess how low it will go if Wuhan is a ghost town come march.

Apparently Dr.Li isn't dead, just in critical condition

Either way, the 'hur dur it's just like the flu' argument is nonsense.

An otherwise healthy doctor, who is exposed to all sorts of pathogens day-to-day does not end up in a critical condition as a matter of routine.

Some sort of disinfectant for the sidewalks, I guess. Looks utterly useless, of course.

Yeah, the vast majority of Chinese people are indoctrinated to believe the government and the CCP will help them and provide for them, so they go to these "hospitals". And as has been said, those who have gone to these "hospitals" and their relatives are now getting a dose of reality. Some of these people send videos out to the world, completely negating any propaganda value the CCP got from building these things.

Just had a thought. One day, when the CCP is no more, there will be a statue erected of a person with a cell phone, taking a video of the truth. We can only hope the truth will set China free, one day.

I've seen that kind of gas/smoke being used here before during the Zika/Dengue outbreak. According to someone I know wh lived in a poor neighborhood, the government arrived early in the morning and made everybody leave their homes. Once everybody was outside, they gassed everything. They couldn't return home for about half an hour or so. It was meant to kill all bugs, especially mosquitos and such. I've never seen it being used to clean in this way in my life.
