Next Wuhan Britons to be taken to Milton Keynes

British nationals on the next UK government flight back from Wuhan will be taken to an NHS facility in Milton Keynes for a 14 day quarantine.

Previously, UK citizens repatriated from the Chinese city at the centre of the coronavirus outbreak were taken to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral.

There have been three cases of coronavirus in the UK so far.

The third patient caught the virus at a business conference in Singapore, the BBC's Hugh Pym says.

Singaporean authorities contacted the man, who is British, to warn him there had been a confirmed case.

He is thought to have tested positive for the virus in Brighton and called NHS 111 from home for advice before going by arrangement to an isolation facility at a local hospital.

He was tested and then went home, isolating himself while he waited for the results. The man was then transported by the NHS to St Thomas's Hospital in London, where he is being treated.

On Thursday, the government updated its advice for people arriving in the UK from nine Asian countries and territories.

Anyone returning from the specified countries in the past fortnight who has symptoms including a cough, fever or shortness of breath is advised to stay indoors and call the NHS 111 service.

Previously this advice had only applied to travellers arriving from mainland China.

The Foreign Office has also advised Britons in China to leave the country if they can to minimise the risk of exposure to the virus.

The coronavirus causes severe acute respiratory infection and symptoms usually start with a fever, followed by a dry cough. Most people infected are likely to fully recover - just as they would from a flu.

The World Health Organization said data from 17,000 patients suggested 82% have mild disease, 15% severe and 3% critical.

So if we trust those WHO stats. Which I don't. But IF, for the sake of a best-case scenario, we trust that. We can expect a system which resist the outbreak to have a mortality lower than 3%. And a system which breaks down up to 18% plus those that die due to the lack of service and resources. Specially if the government just makes shit worse... China is fucked beyond belief. Their government better solve that patent bullshit and start analyzing that treatment. Vaccines as I explained before involve a degree of luck to design, we really can't just wait for it. And india better get its shit together too.

Be glad you got your money back. There are plenty of stories in the /csg/ threads on /g/ of people getting chinked by Chinese vendors on Alibaba, Amazon, eBay and elsewhere.

Also, I've meant to ask you about something for awhile and now seems as good a time as any. Why do you omit so many nouns in your writing? It's just weird. "Well, just got..." instead of "Well, I just got..." "NOT pleased" instead of "I am NOT pleased," "Son said not to worry" instead of "my son said not to worry." "Never told me anything" instead of "They never told me anything." It's like you're dictating telegrams or being charged by the word instead of having casual conversations on an internet forum.

Assuming he's actually Russian, this isn't surprising. The language basically has no version of "the", and from what I've gathered, they largely see it as a nonsense qualifier (ie. "if I say 'get in car', and there's a car here, you know what car I mean. What good is 'the' here?")

Might surprise ya to know a lot of kiwis aren't from burgerland.

This whole situation is a bit like if when Chernobyl happened, the local leadership in Pripyat threw Professor Legasov and all the other scientists who were going "HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE REACTOR FUCKING EXPLODED WE NEED TO BURY THIS SHIT IN LEAD AND CONCRETE RIGHT FUCKING NOW JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU DONE?!!!" into a local gulag after forcibly marching them through the graphite rubble with bare feet for daring to "spread panic and lies" about the glorious soviet nuclear project, and they all carried on ignoring the burning plume of radioactive hell vomiting out the exposed reactor for another few months

Russian doesn’t have definite articles. So ‘i am a student’ becomes ‘я ученик’
Quite a few other languages don’t, or they change the word so that it implies. Boy in Swedish for example is ‘pojke.’ THE boy is ‘pojken.’
I’d assumed uncle joe was from Russia or Ukraine, or that neck of the woods.
Edited: Swedish does have definite articles, before anyone shouts at me...

Well, the Chinese keep hearing from Israel how successful and secret those were in the '40s and figure "hey, if they could cremate 6 million bodies in 2-3 years with just a couple crematoriums we can do way better!"

I think I just figured out the perfect way to explain how fucking terrible China's government is

Imagine if donald trump was just as hateful, petty, small minded, deceitful, racist, incompetent, ignorant, and just plain stupid as the #hashtagresistance tier media accuses him of being....

Now imagine that him and his identically worthless henchmen were just as authoritarian, freedom hating, and corrupt as the #hashtagresistance tier media accuses him and his underlings of being....

Imagine if they were completely correct on every single accusation and you have an idea of what the leadership of china is like.

Maybe not all of it, but by and large the number of upjumped hicks, obsequious bootlickers, and far, far worse who are the only ones ruthless and callous and cynical enough to rise to the top of the CCP led society and economy and thus its politics is almost certainly in the clear majority.

They get to treat those who actually labour for a living in the fields, those who actually try and do technical work in the industries, those who attempt actual scientific research in important fields as disposable and worthless trash at best, and dangerous potential hazards to their comfortable positions at worst who need to be taken out back and silenced the moment they step out of line.

This is why that country, for all the economic might its mass semi-slave labour has helped create, is such a toxic shithole, both figuratively and literally
