Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

While my friend was rambling on and on about how we're entering an unprecedented new age of totalitarian dystopia, I was sitting there smiling. He seemed on-edge, stressed out, real doomsayer vibes...and meanwhile I was feeling alright. Sure, maybe I'm not in the greatest place in my life, maybe I'm not where I expected I would be when I was a kid, but I'm happy. I have a loving family, attend a great church, and live in an area that I couldn't really imagine leaving. It's just crazy to me that someone could look around and see gloom and doom everywhere when there's so much to be happy about. You can burn yourself out easily when you're teeming with rage or hysteria all the time. That's just not me.

So yeah, thanks for your stories, they've made me feel better. And on the off chance my friend comes around, I'll welcome him with open arms. Life's too short to hold a grudge.

Also, fuck Reddit.

This reminds me of a dinner I had with a now former friend of about a decade...we started talking about politics after I made a comment about some idiots posting guillotine memes and he launched into a full-blown rant about how people like him are next to go into the camps, we’re on the brink of a civil war, Trump is going to kill us all, and I would calmly ask things like “so what if Trump doesn’t get removed from office and gets elected again? It doesn’t really seem like things have fallen apart yet...” Oh, and we’re having dinner in an upscale restaurant in a nice neighborhood in the city so clearly that whole world falling apart narrative he was spewing is even more laughable. We used to be fairly similar politically and it’s not like I’ve suddenly gone all right-wing either, but I’m tired of the left’s absolute insanity and lack of basing their policies in any facts. Anyway, so he kept getting more flustered by my questions until finally the projection came out when he blurted “YOU’RE CLEARLY BOTHERED BY THIS BECAUSE IT’S ALL YOU TALK ABOUT” and I responded that we don’t even see each other that often and we’d talked about it a couple times, then he said “OK BYE THEN” and stormed out of the restaurant while I sat there thinking it was the most surreal dinner I’d ever had. Haven’t heard from him since and it doesn’t bother me one bit.

"My Dinner With Tarddre"

Sorry you had to go through that. I've met some outer-space level crazy anti-Trump sentiment IRL but fortunately (most) of my friends are cool with the guy. Family (in-laws) are a whole 'nother story though.

Fine lets share TDS stories. Mine isnt that interesting since my family likes Trump and my best friend is as racist as I am so I'm pretty lucky.

Some guy at the LGS freaked the fuck out one FNM when I told him I liked Trump. He called me a Nazi right to my face then spent the rest of the night being passive aggressive bitching about me to other people and not even treating me like a person.

Next Wednesday at EDH the usual group I play with (most of which had been there on Friday) were pretty chill and had no idea why he went so nuts when it got brought up in conversation.

We're not even fucking American.

Jeez all of these stories about people tearing up friendships not even over politics, but over this phantom politics shit. Like there aren’t actually right wing death squads, that is a JOKE. I’m going to make up a term for it but my operating theory is it’s some kind of perception-dilation effect where if you spend 10 hours a day in Reddit reading stuff that’s been written, and curated, over the course of weeks or even months you end up having your perception of time, events, and their severity utterly twisted. To the point where when someone puts your foot back in reality for a moment your thunderstruck; it’s like the first breath of clean air in a week. Then they have to reconcile that with their mindset. I guess there’s so much investment in that worldview that it’s less stressful to concoct vast Russian conspiracies and implicate your friends and family in it than to revise it. But I’m just some asshole on the internet doing psychology on strangers from secondhand sources and trying to make sense of the stories.

Speaking of which...

Note the release date: 26 july 2016. Steam games started getting TDS almost 4 months before he even got elected

Yeah these are totally sane people. I don't doubt for a second that they created that dlc because they believed that it was literally going to happen if he was elected

Quite the reviews as well. My favorite:

Levelled the Eastern Alliance, condemned Hillary to the coal mines, and then built Trump Towers in the old Eastern capitol of Albany. Best Supreme Ruler experience yet.

The bias against Trump is very visible in this DLC, with international relationships going mostly to hostile within a year or so. NATO is hosed completely with all the nations that were in it irrationally starting to hate the US, the relationship with Canada (a relationship that has been very close since the end of WW2) goes down the drain, China goes bat**** crazy and invades ALL its neighbors yet North Korea is COMPLETELY quiet, and all overall relationships with the US going downhill due to the devs programming in that the American public doesn't like ANYONE, all because Trump was elected President in this DLC. Total immersion breaker. Play without the DLC and simply copy/paste over the picture of Trump to the picture used in the 2020 portrait to play as America with Trump and forget playing the DLC sandboxes.

I think the second one speaks for itself as to the mindset of the designers

Seriously though, that's pretty fucking funny. Obama's DOJ can abuse the FISA process, create fraudulent documents to target a private citizen for illegal surveillance and perpetuate it for years by feeding more lies to the FISA court and that's not scary to them at all, but if Barr says "Hey don't fucking abuse your power, run this by me first" there's suddenly a 5-alarm panic.

Trump Enslavement Syndrome is as bad as Trump Derangement Syndrome

That's because the first, as a term, is a forced-meme reaction to the second. It also has the problem of nobody knowing what you're talking about if you try to write the acronym, since the Elder Scrolls exists.

It's the Dangerous Donald thing all over again.

Well it started off strong with one that was actually pretty funny, and then the rest of it is just nothing but incoherent shrieking. Here's the whole hashtag list if you feel like torturing yourself with the same unfunny joke 26,000 times.
Not going to lie, seeing a face that segues into a different color is pretty disconcerting.
But holy crap, can the left not meme. I know it’s been said before but seeing it in action is just sad.

I should consider myself lucky, I haven't lost one friend to TDS

I have no friends lol

I've got issues with my own family over TDS. I don't mean to powerlevel, but I am the only GOP member in my branch of the family. The family I am in close contact with watch MSNBC all day and believe everything it tells them about Trump, firearms, Socialism, etc., regardless if it is true or not. These people have made snipes at me every now and then over Donald Trump and what ideologies I support, and the absolute worst was when my far left alarmist aunt tried to get into a shouting match with me over the phone over 45 and other issues. At this point, I don't care if I become a black sheep in the future. This has gotten out of control.

I'm a little late, but unlike the majority of you guys, I have not had a dour experience with TDS'ers. Majority of the people in my friend group are anti-Tramp except for me, and they are aware of my views and are fine with it. We have political conversations sometimes, but it's never hostile or anything like that. In fact, they agree with me on a lot of things, it's just that they're anti-Tramp. It's sad that they believe all of the usual Orange Man Bad myths, but I have been trying to persuade them into looking objectively instead of letting subjective "party vs. party" get in the way. Basically, the Voltaire objection approach. We will probably never let politics get in the way of the friendships I've made because we're all cool with each other and shit as well as somewhat logical. The only time I would get into a bad argument is with my parents, who believe all of the TDS myths not only that but embrace them. I will always try to avoid political discussions with them as much as I can though, but there's always once in a while and shit.
