Remember when kv was using con cancellations as proof of him being guilty?
But now that cons are inviting him pretty heavily, the sentiment has shifted to trying to guilt the cons into cancelling, and when they don't they throw a hissyfit.
Maybe what conventions decide to do has no real meaning at all? Maybe if we had records of Vic being kicked out and banned for said behaviour BEFORE the allegations, but after? That is just said conventions playing pr and has no meaning outside of, "Oh, the allegations could lead to issues, better just cut him loose so we don't get caught up in the scandal, don't want everyone boycotting us." or "After i have my soy latte, i better uninvite 'pig lawngnomeyeah', surely this will wetten the fair maidens enough from my obvious virtue!"

Well, technically since it would be under duress she would not be found guilty of perjury in such a case. The problem with the statement is simply, there is no reason to believe she was under this kind of duress.

She gave it in her deposition, no chance of it being under duress. Her lawyer was present, and no police.

This is true. Vics path to recovering his life, the social media push back by supporters and the lawsuit, were turned into further demonization of Vic as using the legal system to harrass. Everything proves you wrong and evil. If Vic didn't fight back that would be proof too. Vic's victory will be the "2nd raping" of Monica. I hope some good sound byte friendly evidence comes out. That will help. But, it's why I would like Vic to get "FU" money from this.

As in all things, after a certain point a convention is no longer a hobby but a profession. As a profession it is no longer something you just walk away from. They become corporations.

So large conventions are risk adverse because they can't really take the hit. Either they take the hit financially or start plying volunteers with more perks.

Smaller, local cons, well, who the fuck cares? They can find another county fairgrounds or something to hold it at. They are still small enough for everyone to know everyone. Harassing them doesn't accomplish anything because everyone can be United.

My point is that conventions don't mean as much as KickVic implied they did.

This is just further proof of how damaging words can be. Call someone a rapist, even if it isn't true... and that shit will stick with you forever. You will be automatically guilty in the court of public opinion. Even if the supposed victims speak out to say they aren't victims, it doesn't matter. They will still be considered victims in the eyes of many.

I could only imagine what people would say if Vic was mainly represented by a female lawyer in court. People would probably be screaming that Vic is constantly assaulting her and forcing her to defend him in court. The lawyer would be too scared because she was being harrassed and threatened by fans. It's ridiculous. But most people are stupid and believe anything and everything.

This is why it is important to seek relief from the court over shit like this. It is irreversible damage that has been done. There is no way to bounce back from being called a rapist or pedophile. So, any form of relief would make it a little easier on someone who has been defamed. The sad reality is that they can never get their life back to the way it was before because their reputation receives permanent damage.

Even if Vic hasn't had any significant roles come up since the Rohan OVA concluded that's still a lot if cons he's going to. Jamie and Monica have maybe four or five each lined up so far for the whole year as far as I can recall (though I'm checking in on this thread and catching up after taking breaks so I probably missed more). Vic on the other hand seems to get a new invite every week.
