What are you playing right now?

Playing Oblivion. I'm at level seven and doing the fighting guild quests. Is it better to do the thief and dark brotherhood questlines, and then do the pilgrimage to cleanse your infamy? Also, when should I do the main quest?

I tried to get back into Gothic II again but failed. It was such a faff to make it run on Windows 10 with a need for fanbuilt patches and mods and then when it does run, every monster and NPC in the game is absent. It's like the Rapture's hit. I decide I can't be arsed and uninstall. The drunken mouse control doesn't help either with looking up and down being super fast and turning / looking left and right being slow as shit, it makes me feel a little seasick.

Having another run at ELEX. Yes, the combat may be wonky and the facial animations iffy but say one thing for Piranha Bytes, they can design a really immersive game world - and in same the early game hell (another PB trademark) is justified by the fact that you, the protagonist, are involuntarily cold turkey from your super soldier serum and are thus reduced to normiedom in what is for all intents and purposes a death world (and it is; every item of wildlife larger than a turkey is aggressive and territorial and quite capable of murdering you at low levels).

Playing through Star Wars: KOTOR. I've had a bunch of false starts, mostly because every previous computer I've owned ran the game like shit (how the fuck does a 2018 laptop make a game from 2003 stutter?).

I can definitely see why so many people hold this game in high regard. It's an excellently written RPG, and the story is engaging. I'm more of a casual Star Wars fan, but I'm really liking it. It kinda feels like a proto Mass Effect in some ways.

I do wish I hadn't had the twist spoiled for me a long time ago though.

Probably Windows 10 and incompatibilities. See above with my failure to make Gothic II work on a modern system.

Recently got into Arknights, playing Azur Lane and farming GBF xeno raid

Nah that's not it. My current PC is Windows 10 and it runs the game beautifully.

Hell I ran it on a 2010ish PC with Windows 8 (no GPU) and it still ran like shit (and keep in mind this thing could run games like Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 reasonably well but KOTOR ran like ass). If anything, I think what makes the 2018 laptop struggle is the fact it's AMD and it sucks at running OpenGL games (at least that's what I could glean when trying to look up a solution).

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, because I'm a sucker for pain.

Had a kickass run going, was tromping along merrily with my custom built duster and cargo pants, flattening zombies with a road roller and hacking them up with a fire axe...then I got instakilled by a land mine. Might start a new character in the same world and try to find my old base.

Been screwing around with Rise of Nations, such as increasing the pop limit and the effects of wonders. RoN is probably one of the best RTS games I've ever played.

River City Girls. Spin off of River City Ransom. Beat em up with RPG elements that seem like they don't even need to be there. Repetitive, but fun, and the bosses are a nice challenge. Soundtrack is pretty good, too.

Playing Lisa: The Painful while waiting for the new GPU to come in. Isn't as hard as I thought but fuck it makes me skittish with my party members given how easy it is to lose 'em.

Couch co-oping Diablo III on Xbox 360 now. I know a lot of people hated the PC version, but this is the only way I've ever played it and it's pretty OK. EB Games (Gamestop's Canadian chain) is currently selling off all its 360 games for 80% off the regular used price. I got all three Dragon Age, all three Borderlands and the two Fable games for 360 for under $40. I missed those three series the first time around. That's probably going to keep me busy well into next year.

Currently going through Twilight princess since it's been a good decade. Definitely my favorite zelder

Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones. A lovecraftian turn-based rpg made by some Turkish dudes. It's kinda buggy, but it's fun, I like the art direction and overall they did a good job handling the source material. That last one is big for me, since I've played too many "lovecraft" games that completely botch the source material.

Shogun 2, kicking myself in the ass for not buying Fall of the Samurai before they decided to make it standalone and up the price.
Such a fun game

My copy of Yakuza Remastered Collection arrived. Just started Yakuza 3. As much as I enjoyed 6 and Kiwami 2, I almost forgot how much better games on the older engines controlled.

3 has always been kind of a black sheep, to the point I only played through the original version once, but I am really enjoying seeing the Okinawa setting again.

Dirt 2.0, which is delighting in making me its bitch. The kind of game where you have to drive with absolute perfection over a 10 minute plus course with no retries or rewinds if you even want to finish in the top half. But for whatever reason I keep plugging away, and found it far more enjoyable when turning the timing displays off and treating it more like a time trial.
