Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

like bringing slaves to market. something i've noticed in a lot of these videos where law enforcement is trying to enforce something on the people is that they never wear any gloves. they love touching these potentially infected people yet they wear no protection and it just confuses me, are the low on gloves or are they just stupid? at least keep some damn distance, poke them with a stick or something don't hold them with your bare hands.

If this video is anything to go by then it looks like the hospitals/crematoriums in Wuhan have continued to degrade to the point where they're now just leaving bodies on the sidewalk

Happy year of the rat folks
well if the virus doesn't kill you, the depression and despair probably will

"This study found that 52.7% (rural vs urban: 44.6% vs 56.8%) and 67.3% (rural vs urban: 59.7% vs 71.1%) of Chinese adults reported they always washed hands before eating and after defaecation, and 30.0% (rural vs urban: 25.1% vs 32.8%) of adults always used soap or other sanitizers during washing. Using the criteria of 'always or very often washing hands with soap before eating and after defaecation without sharing a towel with family members after washing', only 47.2% (rural vs urban: 23.8% vs 59.1%) of the adults were graded to practice proper handwashing behaviour. Urban area, high level of education level, high level of knowledge about diseases, female gender and older age were protective factors for good hand hygiene; of these, area was found to be associated most strongly with handwashing behaviour.

CONCLUSIONS:
Adherence to an appropriate handwashing method and duration of handwashing are critical problems among Chinese adults. Area difference, level of education and level of knowledge of hand hygiene were most strongly associated with handwashing behaviour, and should be targeted in future health education."

They probably don't recognize it as a major disease vector compared to air born transmission and it probably wasn't pounded into their heads as kids.

I don't have the file, but I have seen a video people who are not wearing masks being tied together with ropes and paraded down the street in single file like prisoners. It's sickening and disgusting.

I saw that, too. Typical Chinese. Just don't get it. Every time a video like that hits the Internet, China looks more and more like a shithole, not a prospective great power. Not that hard to treat people with courtesy and respect.

My dad flies around the country a lot for business and today he's been totally bedridden. He gets sick every now and again on principle just from the stresses and exposure that comes with the territory of such a job but still, there's that little fear in the back of the mind. I know there's barely over a dozen cases in the US (last I checked anyway), but I'm worried... :(

well at this point i feel like whatever depression will come from the world burning won't really affect me.

And with the bodies lining the streets, it has now devolved into stereotypical medieval uncontrollable plague imagery :(
If I were superstitious, I wound think year of the rat just sounds all around unlucky too.

According to the Chinese Zodiac, according to some site I just found about the Chinese Zodiac in English, it ironically represents strong vitality and stuff.... but almost everything you can dream about rats is bad luck or has to do with dishonest people according Emperor Wen of the Zhou dynasty who is apparently cited a lot in these articles. Oh, and if a doctor has a dream about a rat it means there is a communicative disease in his community.

Also, the US plans to rescue the Americans on board the Diamond Princess soon, and then quarantine them in the US for 14 days. ( CNN article though, ick):
(CNN)The US plan to evacuate Americans and their families from the Diamond Princess cruise ship appears, on its face, to be the case of a powerful government coming to the aid of its most vulnerable citizens.
But the decision has prompted anger from some exhausted passengers, who believe the move could actually set back their ability to return to normal life -- just as that option was within their grasp.
Thousands of people have been stuck in their cabins under mandatory quarantine aboard the Diamond Princess, which is docked off the Japanese port city of Yokohama, since February 3. With 356 confirmed cases of coronavirus on board, 70 of which were announced Sunday, the ship has the largest concentration of novel coronavirus cases outside mainland China. On February 19, the controversial quarantine period was set to finally end.
Until Saturday, the US government seemed on board with that plan. The consensus among government agencies, which had been communicated to the more than 400 Americans aboard, was that remaining on the ship for the quarantine period was the best course of action.
Most passengers weren't thrilled but accepted the plan.
After the quarantine, virus-free passengers were told they could take commercial flights back to the US.
Then came the email.
The Diamond Princess cruise ship has about 3,600 people quarantined onboard due to fears of the noval coronavirus.

The Diamond Princess cruise ship has about 3,600 people quarantined onboard due to fears of the noval coronavirus.
On Saturday afternoon, the US Embassy in Tokyo sent a notice to Americans on board the Diamond Princess laying out plans to evacuate nearly 400 Americans back home.
Once there, another 14 days of mandatory quarantine would begin. Anyone who chose not to get on the flight would have to wait another 14 days in Japan to ensure they were symptom-free before returning to the US.
That decision has prompted anger among the American passengers, with many demanding answers to two simple questions about the US response: Why did the American government wait so long to make the about-face decision? What prompted such a dramatic shift in US policy?
'Financially and emotionally devastating'
On February 18, the Japanese government plans to begin testing all those who remain on board for the virus. Results should be provided within three days. From February 21, staggered disembarkations would begin.
But American passengers who are evacuated will not be tested.
"From tragedy to comedy to farce," tweeted American passenger Matthew Smith, pulling no punches. "The US government instead wants to take us off without testing, fly us back to the US with a bunch of other untested people, and then stick us in 2 more weeks of quarantine? How does that make any sense at all?"
https://www.cnn.com/specials/asia/coronavirus-outbreak-intl-hnk
Those who decide not to board the flight will still have to spend two weeks in Japan before being able to head home.
For Karey Mansicalco, who owns a real estate company in Utah, the news yanked freedom from her hands at the 11th hour.
"It's like a prison sentence for something I did not do," she told CNN from her cabin. "They are holding us hostage for absolutely no reason."
Mansicalco said another two weeks away from home would cost her upwards of $50,000. "It is financially devastating as well as emotionally devastating. I was in tears when I got the news and ... I did not have the words to explain how I felt. And now I just feel angry," she said.
The evacuation also puts the family of Americans who have tested positive for the virus in a tough spot. There are 46 Americans who have tested positive and anyone who has the virus or is showing symptoms won't be able to board the chartered flight.
"We are spinning out of control again," said Kent Frasure, whose wife Rebecca tested positive last week and was moved to a Tokyo hospital. "I would not get on a flight without Rebecca."
A failed quarantine?
One reason the passengers are so upset is because, as early as last week, experts had been questioning the Japanese government's decision to quarantine people on the ship.
"I don't understand why they have to be kept on a ship," said Peter Hotez, of the Baylor College of Medicine. "We're employing what I call 14th-century approaches and ethics to individuals with transmissible disease."
The abrupt change in US policy led some to believe that Washington lost faith in the effectiveness of the Japanese response. Earlier this week, it emerged that some 1,000 crew on board the ship had not been kept in quarantine, eating meals together with masks off and working side by side.
The American move has put pressure on other governments with citizens on board the ship to respond.
Rose Yerex, a Canadian who along with her husband has struck a decidedly positive tone throughout the quarantine, could not hold back her anger on Saturday.
Relatives of passengers wave to the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which has around 3,600 people quarantined onboard due to fears of the new coronavirus.

"It really kind of shows the difference here between the two countries," she said. "So, hey, congratulations to you guys who are Americans and you are getting to leave. Your government is supporting you, ours isn't."
On Sunday, the Canadian government announced its own evacuation plan. The Hong Kong government also announced Sunday that it was arranging a chartered flight to bring home residents free of charge as soon they were permitted to disembark.
But perhaps worst off are the Diamond Princess crew.
After some crew members issued desperate pleas for help, Princess Cruises told them on Saturday that once all passengers had left the ship, they would have to endure their own 14-day quarantine.
"It is disappointing for all of us," said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises.
On Sunday, Princess Cruises announced it would cancel voyages aboard the Diamond Princess through April 20 because of the prolonged quarantine period.
Customers with questions about their itineraries are being asked to consult the Itinerary Modifications and Cancellations page on the company's website.
"We ask that you please minimize calling our call center for itinerary change information as we work through all the travel changes and subsequent impacts on itineraries. Thank you for your patience and understanding," the company tweeted.
lol at the jealous Canadians
tweet about Americans on Diamond Princess:

Disturbing. The government does love their walks of shame in China though.

I have this video saved about a guy getting intimidated and publicly shamed with video in a weird specially designed interrogation chair because he made fun of traffic cops online. It's a interesting one to show to normies for sure.

The video looks to be from the summer.

However, if it hasn't happened already look to see trucks with PA systems driving up and down streets of a morning, with the cry, "Bring out your dead!" Very likely to happen with the present lockdown system.

Folks, you know what's really sad about this? Anything bad you can imagine happening in China re the WuFlu is probably happening, many times worse than can be imagined. I have no idea whatsoever as to when things will get better. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a shortage of hospital beds, shortages of supplies, shortages of medical personnel, shortages of food, shortages of everything but the police and the CCP no-loads. Hardly a recipe for anything but maybe death on an industrial, if not Biblical scale. And God only knows what's happening in North Korea. China is 1000 times better off than that Asian Albania.

Re the USAF plane taking the people from the ship back, it isn't just one plane. Not even a C-5 can haul 400 people. My guess - three C-17s. Am thinking go from Japan to Elmendorf AFB, Alaska for refueling/disembarking any seriously ill people. Elmendorf to Travis AFB, California. Refuel/switch crews/drop off any badly sick. Then to Lackland AFB, TX. Historical note: Planes actually land at the former Kelly AFB, which was right next to Lackland. Kelly was a flying base and home of a major Air Logistics Center, plus an Air Force major command headquarters. The old Lackland had no flight line. Kelly had a nice Officers' Club, with a mock WWI fighter hanging above the inside. Consolidation some years back made Kelly part of Lackland and closed the Air Logistics Center.

what the isrealis know that the goyim doesnt
That they have zero trade coming in by land, and only two major ports. If they have an outbreak, and like in China, shipping companies decide they aren't going to dock, they're royally fucked. Especially regarding food and fuel.
If I had to guess, it's mainly for people after mandatory military service who go around traveling shit hole places in Asia and might caught the disease while traveling.
The far east and south america are full of israeli backpackers.
Seems like Thailand is also a popular tourism destination for families: (source / archive)
Thailand's tourism agency estimates 196,000 Israelis travel to the country every year, 22,000 of them on El Al, according the carrier’s statistics. Israelis spend an average of 17 days in the country. Thailand is one of Israel's favorite holiday destinations, especially during the Passover holidays, when Israelis are able to take more than a week vacation.
Doing some quick maths: from quick search israel's population is about 9mil. That amount of annual tourists is about 2.17% of the general population. I don't think Thailand will see plenty of tourists soon, but if I'm wrong, there's a pretty good chance an infected will come back from there.

it really is just a perfect storm of bad shit. corona virus sweeping though, food shortages, supplies stop coming, bird flu, swine flu, incompetent government, no health standards etc. china is pretty much the worst possible position possible, in a way this helps us to understand how bad ti can get and prepare so at least thats a positive.

I would have to say the most insane thing about this virus is how much devastation it's able to do to the human body. 28 day incubation period is a ridiculous amount of time for any type of virus. Seeing 2020 kick off with a possibility of a third world war and now watching this bat plague just wipe people out blows my mind. CCP is a total failed state, seeing that under all of the layers of censorship, and brute force policing. They couldn't even contain this fucking virus just blows my mind. Doing that type of research sketches me out to begin with, because this is unequivocally the nightmare scenario. Doesn't look like the Wu-Flu is going to slow down any time soon and China's standing on the world stage, and also their economy is going to suffer tremendously. As well, I think the most comedy we could of received from the situation is that lab was located literally adjacent to the fish market. Not even 300 meters away? Why would they even consider doing this type of research in some type of isolated region, where the possibility of cross-contaminating with people would be practically zero. Lolcow news reporters and journalists defending the ridiculous nature of the Chinese governments actions sucking Pooh off should be ashamed in not actually giving out the real details. Embarrassing that it took this long for the truth of the situation to start coming to light.

Yes. Actually, as previously stated this is showing the advantages we have over China. These advantages will help spare us from the worst. Having said that, if the CCP had been thinking about the welfare of the Chinese people instead of the well-being of the CCP much could have been done, much sooner than it was, or still hasn't been done.

Did some light twitter digging, those aren't dead bodies.
"The video is true! But it should be in Wenzhou, not Wuhan! You can tell from those red lanterns,it’s Chinese New Year!People went back to work in Wenzhou, but the new laws don’t allow landlords to rent the apartments to anyone who is not local residents,so people had to sleep outside" @YingAnderson88

"This is in Shenzhen several days ago. As the city don't accept the workers from Hubei province. Local landlord don't lease the house to them anymore. Some even have the house there but the communities don't accept them as worring about the virus they may bring." @eddyshaw810

This is why I get most of my news from Kiwifarms now. No matter how sensational or ideological the bent of a given thread may be, there's always some anal retentive contrarian faggot that will do the work to contradict the headline for e-cred.

Thank you for being that faggot, Ectotherm, and doing what real journalists refuse to do.

Meh. It's massively less lethal than smallpox. Almost everyone that gets it is just gonna have a cold for awhile.

Based on the fake numbers that the CCP is giving out, yeah. I don't believe those numbers and no one else should either.

Wasn't there a study posted just a few pages back that suggested it can screw with fertility, is more deadly the second time around, and permanently fucks with your lungs / immune system?

Screw lethality, in 5 year's we're gonna see the great Chinese "3 child per family" program to fix a complete collapse of fertility in the survivors.

It sucks for the Chinese because they're filthy, live in close quarters, and all have the lungs of 60 year old smokers. There's been plenty of time for it to start fucking over the west long incubation period or no if it was going to.

I think we're safe unless it mutates.
