It's an incredibly common, albeit a bit old fashioned, white trash parenting technique to beat your kids with a wooden spoon. Keeping it out and handy to let the kids know that they'll be beaten for "acting up" is also common. I imagine it was kept in the visor for easy backseat beatings, yeah?

Newfag here and reading through this entire thread, I don't believe I saw it mentioned...but in most states, corporal punishment is legal as long as you don't leave a bruise or mark after 24 hours. That is why normally faces and tender skin is left alone and the butt is the target. Belts and switches are thin and can easily leave welts, but the paddle of a wooden spoon distributes across skin very well and have less of a chance of leaving a mark, which means no involvement/punishment from child services.

Failing that, there's a number of makeshift tools she could keep in the car, like a metal meat tenderizer, that would actually remedy the situation she claims to be worried about. That wooden spoon wouldn't shatter a window, It doesn't even look like it could shatter creme bruelee. The only purposes that spoon would serve are stirring sauces or smacking kids. I don't think she's making sauces in the car.

Wouldn't a tire iron work as well? That's something actually useful to have in the car and not something associated with child abuse (that I'm aware of).

After having seen Amy's kids' behavior, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the type of kid to have the opposite reaction to Benadryl and get MORE hyped up from it, leading to her giving bigger doses to try to knock them out. Poor kids have no chance. Feed them sugar and garbage all day long, then get frustrated and ragey when they act like crazed chihuahuas when it's time to record your Youtubes.

And we know it's Amy's tool, because if it were Ali he would be threatening them with the Egyptian tool of the child-beating trade: a flip flop or a shoe.

And the $150 child bribe shoes? I would never in a million years believe they actually spent that much on his shoes. Not that anyone even SHOULD spend that much money on a kid's shoes, but Ali was (is?) a major cheapskate, shops the clearance section at the discount stores like Ross and TJ Maxx for his neverending wardrobe of ill-fitting athleisure attire.
