"I didn't know you were even trying" is my favorite response troons get. I think there's way more trannies out there like this than people realize. I assume a good portion of reddit troons are like this. Sure they may bust out the cat ears in private, but walking around daily life no one would have any idea they have aspirations to be anything other than schlubby dudes.

Excuse the powerlevel, but I had experience with this year's ago when I posted in an online community with tons of trannies. We had a meet up and I kept waiting for the trans users to show up but all I saw was a bunch of dudes I didn't recognize and then it clicked and I was like "ohhhhhh, you're Alice". Based on usernames and the way they described themselves it was a real trip to see the reality.

This is honestly what I think many troons mean when they say they pass as cis, they think they pass/turn around their situation online into that they pass because nobody realizes they're supposed to be transitioning to anything

Long story short, the troons in the comment section are all accusing this person of pretending to be trans. I wouldn't rule sockpuppetry/LARP as a possibility here, but I'm inclined to be believe that the OP is telling the truth and that her use of words like, "freak" and "predator" are mostly just her being pissed off. It is a vent sub after all. All the things she's saying are things I've heard from detransitioned fakebois countless times before. If there's one thing you can glean from this thread, it's that trans "spaces" (read: echochambers) are filled with belligerent, narcissistic, and/or horny language and literally almost nothing else. The New York Times has published the first chapter of Daniel Mallory Ortberg's transition memoir, "Something That May Shock and Discredit You."

Basically, Mallory compares her transition to the Rapture. This is the most explicitly spiritual take on transsexuality that I've ever seen. She describes a lifelong unplaceable desire and sense of homesickness, followed by a sudden and complete shift in her perspective which resulted in her concluding that she wanted to be "a man, sort of." It's pretty clear that this also happened during a depressive episode.

It's a conversion story, one which reminds me of how C.S. Lewis (Mallory's self-declared childhood nemesis) described his conversion to theism: that he went out for a drive one morning not believing in God, and when he came back home, he did.

The main person in the article is a 60 year old trans person who had RECENTLY had surgery (I didn't even know they did the surgery at that age), and was concerned that they would develop dementia and forget they're a woman.

That's even more astounding. This trans person straight up admits they may forget they're a woman in the future. That's exceptional.

the style you’re thinking of is called fairy kei. i’m fairly certain several of those wigs must have come from a vendor that specializes in japanese trends (which are often expensive) — at the very least a lot of them look like lolita wigs. so this man has a wife and kids, whom he allegedly lives with, doesn’t even seem particularly into any aspect of japanese culture yet is likely spending hundreds of dollars on wigs and clothes from vendors oriented around japanese fashion trends just to dress up like a pretty pretty princess.
