It's hard to say. If the virus keeps destroying China and doesn't spread outwards much, then that's one superpower down which will leave a huge power and economic vacuum. If it spreads out all over the world, you could see a dramatic change everywhere. I think even if they do somehow manage to get the virus under control by the time this year is over, you'll still see a lot of countries rethinking allowing such heavy outsourcing which is something that would seriously hurt China anyway. On the very off chance the virus just completely decimates China, and Japan somehow gets by with only minor damage, you could see them become a regional superpower again. A lot of people there would likely want to be annexed by some other nation in the area, and Japan seems like the most likely country for them to turn to.so once all this is over, whether this thing kills 1/10 or 1/100000 some things are guaranteed to happen. China's reputation is fucked and their people will die in droves because of a majority of reasons and asian trade in general will probably take a big hit so what do you expect for the future, who will end up on top and who will crumble?
I wouldn't be too optimistic. The cruise ship that docked in Cambodia, and the leak from the Beijing hospital indicates that the tests are not very reliable.Good news for those of us who live in Swedistan. Apparently the six coronavirus suspects all tested negative.
Missionaries in Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand have been instructed to stay in their apartments except to shop for supplies, exercise or attend church if services are being held.
Still mostly just Chinese though. It's the only thing communism excels at.Mao killed his own people, Xi went and released a deadly plague that killed people across the globe, just the thought that buying shit form China has a chance his infecting you and your country with the plague will lower peoples opinion of them.
the spread is still in it's early stage outside of China, it's going to speed up soon, we just had our first non asian death so it's not an "asian only" plague sadly.Still mostly just Chinese though. It's the only thing communism excels at.
Let me know when Chabad Lubavitch pulls out of Southeast Asia. The LDS Church closes temples and halts missionary work. Important quote:
Meanwhile, the government of Cambodia, under the 35-year-old leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, has questioned the accuracy of Malaysia's diagnosis of a MV Westerdam passenger. Note that Cambodia is acolonyclose ally of the People's Republic.
What should we take away from these articles? I think it is highly likely that the government of Cambodia is going to ignore the virus until Phnom Penh is the next Wuhan, when it is too late to do anything about it. Hun Sen and his toadies are even worse than Hubei authorities, who could at least feign ignorance of what they were dealing with. They have the information to do something, but they ignored it in exchange for asspats from Beijing. Fuck them.

What blows my mind about all of this is how Corona chan seems to be able to still slip past despite such extreme measures. That does it, one of my worst nightmares.
Long incubation period plus attempted cover up gives coronavirus a weird curve. Also jesus christ ebola. 60+% fatality rate.Lol this shit looks like something out of a zombie movie.

Because it was already there. That's what happens when you cover shit up for a month before doing anything. These measures are putting bandaids on a slit throat. What blows my mind about all of this is how Corona chan seems to be able to still slip past despite such extreme measures.
It has a lot of doomsday tier characteristics. Mutates easily, contagious without symptoms, multiple infection vectors, very slow killing, apparently hard to test for, and the potential for reinfection. The big thing I don't think people have fully come to grips with yet is that even with the obviously understated death rate, you have to realize that the people who are recovering are mostly doing so in full ICU care, and with artificial ventilation. If doctors keep getting sick, or even if they just get overwhelmed by sheer numbers of patients then you'll eventually see that number skyrocket because it will be impossible to treat everyone.Long incubation period plus attempted cover up gives coronavirus a weird curve. Well, the strain in Iran has already been announced to have been a different strain. They're claiming it didn't originate from China, but I'd say that should be taken with a massive grain of salt. As for it reinfecting, it's very much possible. If during a mutation a virus's protein coat (capsid) changes, then in most instances it will bypass any immunity developed for a different strain of the virus.I'm not yet convinced of potential for reinfection. Nor have I heard of it mutating any easier than any of its cousins. Though really all viruses are pretty bad about that.
I know it's possible, I just haven't heard of any confirmed cases yet. It's just down to luck, really.Well, the strain in Iran has already been announced to have been a different strain. The ideal would be that China, and the companies which sold out their home nations for cheap labor all collapse over this, but that's so far off it's not even worth speculating on right now imo.Really in the long run I think this might be a net good. The economy needs a good shock to topple the entrenched but maladapted strategies that take root from time to time. As long as this doesn't go full swine flu, or the government doesn't do stupid shit like bail out everyone over a certain size.
