I'm going to come off as a huge anime elitist, but a lot of the people I see involved in the whole situation both KV and ISWV just seem to have very casual/mainstream tastes in general. It's always the same pools of shows, though you can note when someone got into anime based on which pool they lean to (i.e. ancient weebs that traded vhs bootlegs vs. late 90s to early 2000s weebs vs. AOT/MHA/Mob etc. weebs). In any of those anime iceberg tier lists they'd mostly gravitate around tier 1 or 2 because most people that make up the lower levels just don't care about any of the drama or at least don't spend their time sitting on twitter ranting about it. It also amuses me greatly when you have said tier 1/2 people speak as if they are authorities on anime but that veers more into my dislike of the bulk of anitubers or similar on twitter when they give their stupid opinions.

This whole situation has just made me a strong believer in the idea of gatekeeping, something I had previously not really agreed with due to any hobby needing a steady flow of new souls, but now I see its purpose.

problem is that there is good gatekeepers and bad gatekeepers, and we don't know which is which.

These stories, if anything, help Vic.

You see all these bizarre stories... and no one gives a shit. Vic had stories about him, and no one gave a shit. It wasn't until the defendants, with some level of authority, defamed him that people started to take note.

Exactly. No one on KickVic wants to admit that it took co-workers for any of this to get traction. Otherwise it takes away the "rumors" argument they always have to fall back to.

Weird Michael was always a stand-in for Vic, but never a replacement. I mean that was the case with Bleach. Often Vic or David Lodge wouldn't be available for recording so they had to fall back on actors who could fill in. Like Patrick Seitz for David and Michael for Vic. So people saying " Oh he sounds almost identical." or " Exactly the same." Aren't really making their cases considering they are praising a knock off brand instead of the actual product. I just found that line of thinking puzzling that's all.

Personally, I think he leans KV but is silent about it. He has done voice work for Funimation in the past but not recently. His most recent role for Funi in my memory was an episodic role in Space Dandy.

Also, Marianne Miller has worked for NYAV Post as a scriptwriter for their dubs in the past, most notably for the Gundam Seed redub.

Reword that slightly to reference giving benefit of the doubt to Vic and the accusations and you'd draw the ire of a thousand petty nobodies.

It can't be stated enough that any and all hostile reaction to anybody wanting to give benefit of the doubt or wait for more information was likely what fueled the initial beginnings of those who either support Vic or lack credible information to be convinced he did anything wrong. The more outrage shown, the more groups like ISWV gained traction.
