Just returned from Costco. All looked normal, no sign of panic buying. Bought extra bottle of allergy medicine. Was on sale and I'll use it anyway. In this area, believe people are so used to earthquakes and massive wildfires that the WuFlu isn't that big a deal.

The Costco I went to was completely out of the half-gallon pump bottles of hand sanitizer they usually carry, and they've been out of it long enough to have rotated different stock into the space it used to occupy. I had to look around to make sure it hadn't been moved to a more prominent location, but no--they were completely out, so it's a good thing I bought an extra one last week. Also, their stock of rubbing alcohol had a major dent in it. There were plenty of boxes of gloves, though.

I did spot a couple of people who looked like they were prepping--their carts were full to overflowing, with bleach, disinfectant cleaners, lots of canned goods, and 50lb bags of rice. Both of them were boomer-aged, fwiw, and seemed twitchy and nervous.

Oh, and at the dude at the front door was offering to wipe down people's cart handles with Clorox wipes.

Otherwise, it seemed to be a perfectly normal day at Costco. Ditto, the grocery outlet store, where I braved the shuffling zombie horde that shops there to pick up a few more odd canned foods just for variety, and a few boxes of the fig bars I like (they had the apricot ones! Fuck yeah!).

These don't look like bad numbers, other than the huge jump of numbers on 'confirmed'. They seem even with each other. Unless I'm seeing them wrong and they are bad.

No, I dont think they're bad. I just had not been putting the last numbers to compare them with so I figured that the before and after Iran/Italy was a good place to start doing it since it was over that four day gap in number posts that it took off.

I will say in counting up the numbers, Iran had 49 recovered and seems really fast for only having 18 confirmed cases as of the 21st according to WHO. Six days is a little fast for the 49.

Their numbers now are 245 confirmed / 26 dead / 49 recovered. Same period the USA has stayed 6 recovered. Odd.

At first, I thought the new Coronavirus was going to be a big load of nothing outside of China like SARS was in the early 2000's, but between the South Korean health official killing himself, the stock market going into panic mode, and the CDC's weird behavior surrounding this whole thing, even I'm getting concerned.

I'm going to be stocking up on essential supplies this weekend while I still can, just in case.

Things like food, water, toilet paper, batteries, basic medical supplies, etc.

Even if the virus itself doesn't get as bad as people are expecting, it's still good to have those kind of supplies in case of another more mundane emergency like extended power outages or a winter storm.

The no use of PPE is horrific too with the Army case. That base is fucked most likely.

As for the UK in other news our Emergency services in counties with rivers except the Thames are majorly strained as preparation for more flooding due to us being hit by consecutive storms. We have had near enough record flooding for example my city is on the Seven and is heavily crippled as the bridges keep flooding. Police of course assist with deployment and maintenance in these matters and if we get Corona worse we could potentially have civil unrest as our NHS is crippled.

The NHS in this news broadcast is hilarious and they dont realise that its going to cause chaos.

Darby for non UK is the most central county it borders many counties and its most notable service is that it has a direct rail connection to London and Birmingham the 1st and 2nd biggest cities. Both have major homeless problems. A frail NHS and strained emergency service a very strained military as they get called when the Police is in shortage. It feels like Leaders are either arrogant or complacent as hell.

@Syaoran Li Yeah I share the same sentiment. The media and CDC downplay is deeply troubling and with various mutations it feels like it could be a major problem. I get paid from work today so I am grabbing canned goods, rice PPE from DIY and sanitiser.

Bit of a bitch, but I bought $250 AUD worth of supplies yesterday, including 60 litres of water.

I bought canned meat, canned vegetables and canned fruit, along with plenty of long life goods and things like toilet paper and hand sanitiser.

You guys need to do the same. Look at 1 day of your life, and inventory what you would need to get through that day, including medical supplies.

Then multiply that by 10.

I'm not trying to be tmi but I am literally sick when I get my time of the month. Allergies have been acting up too so I'm not sure I brought anything back. I did got tested before I went home and took my bed rest I won't get results until mid next week.
I'm pretty sure I don't have it because most of my sickness is just being sick to my stomach having to use the bathroom a lot and general anemia and weakness from it. the only other thing I have is a slight sniffle that responds well to antihistamines.
If I caught I'd be coughing blood, I've had pneumonia twice eventually I was unable to take anymore than two steps from my bed before falling down. I remembered a week into having I coughed blood because my lungs were so worn out from coughing. Point is if I caught it I'd be too weak to even move days into it. I'm not ruling out being a carrier but it's very unlikely given my precondition to being susceptible to respitory infections. Logically speaking of course.

In other news the market dropped 1200 points today. Odd, no democratic debate to drive it down only Trump’s press conference yesterday and Pence taking control of the coronavirus situation. Oh and he spent hours with “diamond and silk” and some producers of a play about the FBI.

You know what... Since China stopped it's factories this past month... Temperatures haven't been this low in my area of europe, and for the first time in like, 12 years we finally got a nice thick coat of snow here. Call me an idiot or whatever for connecting these dots, but to me and a bunch of people around, it looks like we almost reverted a few decades of the "muh global warming" just having China completely stopped, the world Elite's heater is broken.

If China stops for a few more months we might finally go back to 1950's temperatures.
