I'm personally quite convinced that it has spread everywhere on the planet at this point and most of the people have it, but are simply asymptomatic or have so mild symptoms that they just don't care. There is no way it wouldn't have spread everywhere at this point as it was evidently present in China at least as early as the beginning of December. Wuhan lockdown came in to effect in the end of January, which leaves almost two months of time window for it to spread. If you have brains, you can assume from that that before anyone knew it was around, it had already spread far and wide beyond Chinese borders.
Personally I believe that the worst aspect of this virus is that it's causing such a economic disruption. Not because I would particularly care about stock markets, but because I'm quite convinced that it's unwarranted. Investors and their muppets in the national governments will be pissed off once they realize that billions in profit have been wiped away just because of unwarranted panic spreading in social media, and this may very well lead to new legislations against freedom of information and freedom of speech in general. On the other hand, if we ever in the future encounter a really dangerous disease, the captains of industry will not be so eager to allow these kind of quarantine measures, even if they would be warranted then, as the lesson they take away from this one will most likely be that the proles are prone to panic, and should not be given voice in the affairs of society.

My personal take on why China acted so drastically is a) they have had some internal turmoil in the near-past(Hong Kong etc.), and PRC decided that it's the time to remind their people that the Mandate of Heaven still belongs to the emperor Xi, essentially flexing their muscles and showing that they have might to put lockdowns on cities that are larger than small nations, and b) they were chastised by the rest of the world in the past for being too complacent with avian flu etc. However, in the past we didn't have social media, and the Chinese leadership didn't quite understand what kind of wildfire of panic and hysteria they would be unleashing upon the world.
I also had a theory that the very high death toll concentrated in Wuhan specifically would indicate that actually this whole virus debacle is a smoke-screen to hide some other kind of catastrophe. Perhaps a nuclear power plant went Tschernobyl in Wuhan, or a large factory accident released something really poisonous in that area. Both could lead to significant prolonged exposure death toll in a country like China. To cover it up, PRC decided to let loose a coronavirus to explain why they have suddenly lots of people dying of respiratory illness, and while the virus in itself doesn't seem to be very dangerous, the aforementioned amplificatory effect of social media whipped it up to global hysteria. But even I don't seriously believe this theory, and we have no way to get any proof of such, so I'm going with the first explanation.

Well first thing you need is a good cache of melee weapons. Guns are great if possible but bullets are hard and dangerous to make so keep them for real needs. Crossbows can be good for hunting because arrows are much more easy to make, but farming should be a priority if possible, because they're more stable and safer.
Next up. Barricades aren't that great unless añready under siege. What you want is to have barriers easy enough to open from the inside but good enough to keep things out, remember, the priority isn't having walls to stop sngry neighbors, it's having the visibility to know when they come, the logistics to prepare ambushes and the ease of movement to get the drop on them. Barricades no matter how good they are can be turned against you by anyone with a molotov, you should not tellegraph your position and restrict yourself like that, enough pasive defense to keep things out is needed but once the perimeter is safe enough move on to other priorities.

As Dr Fernando Simon said over here (the ISCIII spokeperson and alert coordinator) "this virus isn't severe but it is worrying", as in most people will feel nothing but the socioeconomic disruption it can cause IS a huge issue even if the virus itself isn't.
Hell I've never met the guy personally but I can tell you he's been keeping a close eye on the flu since 2008 and spain's been worried about that since long before, because our epidemiologists always knew if it were to mutate in certain ways it could cause massive logistical issues even if not that severe. Yes, but it's already proven that this virus is not that deadly. It has a death toll of 1-3%. In conditions of Chinese hospitals. However it's been proven that the virus is one fucker to spread, which in my firm opinion indicates that it's already everywhere, and in reality the death toll is probably even much less than 1%. There is no way to test everyone, at least not in the foreseeable future, and it's known that majority of known cases are mild or asymptomatic and indistinguishable from common cold. I've had runny nose and slightly sore throat now for a week or so, so have almost all people I know. For all I know, we might all have it already and it's doing nothing. Having these symptoms is common here at this time of the year, so no-one is going to see a doctor because of them, and thus no-one can know if they have the virus.

Yeah but china ain't releasing their actual stats I got stats from singapore hinting the death toll is much higher and Iran is getting fucked up the ass with coronas strap on of death.
China is on damage control with the presses I handed documents to my boss with reports that the crematories in wuhan are operating 24/7 with bodies coming in from the streets and houses. by saying this is just the sniffles is a huge understatement the cold even in the poorest of countries hasn't hit that level of death.

I may be biases but remember the health care where I live is below city Chingchong levels. Its on par with rural chinaman healthcare, and our population is aging.
We don't smoke as much, we don't stress and lollute as much but our hospitals are even shittier. Most of them were built before isolation wards were invented. Machines like X ray and MRI are in a two digit number with month long waiting times under ideal conditions.
So far we know that runny nose is not it. That is just the cold or regular flu.
Israel takes no shit and jews are smart.
Happy merchant can do it and make a ton of shekels selling it, and be a hero.

If I was a really scummy betting man who bets on pandemic deaths I'd put it at 5% without access to effective hospital treatment.

Not trying to be a doomer or anything, but if you have any relatives in a nursing home or long term care otherwise now would be a good time to go and see them. Even if this turns into another nothingburger, and we get robbed of our happening as always the one place you can bet on it having a major impact regardless if (big if) it spreads is long term care. If the virus makes its way into your community there are simply too many vectors of entry for it to not enter into long term care facilities. Even if you forbid entrance from family members there's still, staff (who potentially work prn at hospitals or doctors offices, and shift change multiple times a day), pharmacists who deliver meds multiple times a day, Doctors still occasionally visit, a large portion of residents are admitted straight from the hospitals, residents leave daily to doctors offices, and residents are picked up and returned by paramedics. Once it enters your community its not a matter of if, but when it will get into long term care facilities, and when it does it will absolutely ravage them. Even if your relative would miraculously not get it, and they still for some reason allowed outsiders to freely visit it will not be worth the risk to go see them.
