I'm posting my favorite bat video to celebrate 500 pages. How anyone could eat these critters is appalling.

I don't know but I hear they're responsible for half. And where do you get 13%?
That's not the way crematoriums work, tho and their uptick in activity can't be all blamed on Corona. You have to heat up the machines to begin with and then you actually have to burn the body which for most adults takes 1 to 3 hours depending on the size of the deceased. 4 to 6 hours wouldn't be productive for a creamatorium as you'd only be doing maximum of six bodies if it was a perfect 1 hr to burn 1 body and if you assume Wuhan has a standard death rate of 150+ people a day, like many large cities, when Corona isn't active, that's only 30 bodies a week per machine per crematorium. That's without considering the type and age of the machines they may be using.
Government mandate that all bodies be burned reguardless of cause of death is what's put them into hyperdrive. So it isn't the measure or tell that you'd think. As normally the deaths are more spaced, not so urgent to burn immediately, not all people choose cremation, etc.
There are too many factors at play. Some of the home deaths will be those who were sick from Corona and died and some will be elderly and young who needed other care but were too afraid of getting Corona to go to the doctor- like how many died of a burst appendix - we just don't know. Some will be people whose time is up, corona be damned. People haven't stopped dying from everything else because of Corona and there's probably a massive uptick of those dying from medical negligence because poor medical facilities are now overwhelmed by Corona.
Corona seems to target the elderly, smokers, those already sick with other maladies, ACE2 (?) receptors, and possibly males harder.
China has an aging population, less than stellar health facilites to begin with, prefer male children, heavy smoking culture, heavy air pollution, more receptors.
It's the literal perfect storm.
The entire M.E. relies on 'Inshallah' a bit too much.
Much of the ME will probably be saved by it’s weather. From what I have been reading the experts are thinking this behaves like most other similar viruses and prefers dry cool to cold environments. This is why Flu season hits in the colder seasons. Higher Summer temperatures and higher humidity act as a natural disinfectant on this type of virus, and limits its ability to persist in the environment or spread airborne.
And if there is one thing Italy is known for, its their cold weather. Venice is freezing all year round
Speaking of which, the Florida Department of Agriculture was sending out recipe cards, encouraging people how to sanitize and cook iguana in an attempt to encourage people to control the invasive lizards through barbecue. So, South Floridians, you have a potential food source on the side.I wonder if the wild iguanas or the rampaging gangs of herpes monkeys can carry it.

That looks staged as fuck. If this were real, why would they let it get recorded and uploaded? I think this was staged and made public to try to make China look like they have shit under control.
Illinois governor press conference.
My limited pool of Iranians I know makes me think it’s common. The girl in premed doesn’t, I don’t know about her parents, and both guys I know smoke, one of which got here as a kid and the other born here and is only in his 20’s. The older one has confirmed severe air pollution as well with little prompting. She looks quite gaunt in that picture. Poor girl, 25 is so young.
Chinese men smoke like it’s going out of fashion. the big tobacco companies aggressively pushed their wares in China after being booted out of the west. No idea what rates are in Iran.
Couple of interesting papers out on the ACE2 receptors.
Take home messages are:
1. Number increases with age
2. Number increases with smoking
3. No significant differences in ACE2 number between races (this study is quite indirect though and has a number of caveat, I’d want to see this replicated directly with samples taken for the purpose not from tumour archives and with various tissues.![]()
