The flu should be reported on more aggressively, yet another consequence of corporate owned don't disrupt the consumer reporting.

Maybe if people knew how virulent the flu is they'd stop spreading that shit everywhere.

Often people who are sick do not care and do not rest and go to work sometimes in places like restaurants or grocery stores and sometimes get on airplanes and fly when they are sick. Some cannot afford to take time off. Others just don't give a fuck about their health or anyone else their main purpose in life is to do the exact same thing they did yesterday regardless of how thinking and problem solving is the best way to get through life their answer to everything is rinse and repeat durrr.

3rd world countries is where these mutated flues get very bad. Places like China, maybe not all of China but many parts. People cannot afford shit except to work all the time to live in very unclean and overworked conditions in very crowded areas developing very poor immune systems.

Honestly though 200 years ago people speculated by the time the world today had the technology the world today has that the common cold would have been long since wiped off the face of the earth. Its not the genetic age of Star Trek yet but regardless from what we do know today about medicine and health these constant mutated viruses are a very serious sign of how backwards and retarded the world is.

At the very least if nothing else health should not be a major issue these days anymore.

I'd thicken it a bit with xantham gum, maybe a quarter teaspoon per cup, possibly less, but you'd have to do some trial and error. You can probably find it in the gluten free or baking section of your grocery store. It's about $8/half pound through Amazon, too. Unless you're doing a lot of strange gluten free baking a half pound is probably a lifetime supply.

A tiny bit turns any liquid into a gel.

To add to that if you can only find low % rubbing alcohol you can use salt to pull a lot of the water out. Just get a plastic bad and salt the shit out of it. Let it hang for a while (you can see the layers separating) and then snip the bottom and get a higher proof alcohol. Like if all you have is 40% you can up it to flammable levels that way.

Here's my observations for the day FWIW. My home is 'out there' but I have to go to a neighboring town that is within an hour or so driving time from a major epicenter. I'm currently attending continuing ed classes at a local school for my work training.

My morning class was only half full, the were some awkward exchanges about the virus. A lady brought donuts. I didn't have one. I go to my next classroom, class doesn't start for a couple of hours but we can study there. The donut lady comes in and chats with me while we settle in.

She starts telling me that she couldn't work on her project because her kids were sick and the baby had a fever. About this time the sudden grip of paralysis relaxed slighly when I realized she had picked a desk on the other side of the room. The TA came in to supervise and we all nodded together. Then the teacher of the class I am about to attend comes in and pulls the TA aside. When the TA comes back she says something about the teacher leaving because she wasn't feeling well.

When the TA announces to the class that she will be giving the tests she merely tells them that the teacher had an emergency she had to attend to.


I've washed my hands like crazy, swallowed my oregano oil and am hoping for the best. Here we go...

I went to Walmart yesterday to buy some stuff and saw two Chinamen with thick accents pestering the manager. I overheard their conversation they where looking for masks but our Walmart is out. I live in a very rural white area and about three hours from the nearest city so they would have had to make a day trip to visit this Walmart. We’re going to run out of first responders at this rate if the stupidity continues. Why is the CDC not providing guidelines out to emergency operations on how to respond to flu like or respiratory issues calls?

We’re completely unprepared for being a 1st world nation, it’s embarrassing.

I'm actually starting to get extremely worried that the Government is purposely downplaying it like China to keep the markets from immediately tanking. The CDC is just... quiet while, for example, students in Washington State are told to merely self-isolate for only 5 days after someone infected worked/studied there for the last week.

I also really don't like this, "its already here so there is nothing we can do" mentality; Cities that prepared for the Spanish Flu in 1918 fared better than the cities that were caught flatfooted. Merely closing down church, education, and community events while the virus ravages an area can make all the difference for deaths. From where I am looking the government is really giving the strongest impression they want to maximize potential deaths by doing literally nothing to slow the spread or even prepare people for it.
