I've seen blue check marks praising the spread of the disease on twitter as some equalizer to climate change and solution to wealth inequality.

I think anyone who relishes the thought of a disease "rescuing" Mother Earth from humanity should volunteer to get themselves injected with the virus. Put their money where their mouth is, so to speak.

From SA, “eat the rich” is very funny after 3k people have died including 6 elderly here in the US.

Tech world responds to corona chan pardon if this is late I'm a bit behind
Twitter told its 5,000 employees to work from home because of the coronavirus | archive
Google, Coinbase, and Twitter are all telling some employees to work from home this week amid the spread of coronavirus | archive

No international travel, avoid domestic when possible.
No hosting of events / meetups
No conferences, meetups, events attendance
All international travelers will be gently yet firmly requested to self quarantine for 14 days regardless of destination
Carte blanche to work from home if you feel even slightly unwell
best for last: face masks for employees using public transportation

A bit late and I'm not sure how the masks will help, but generally I approve.

4 new cases in Sydney this afternoon, all of which from recent travellers. 1 from Singapore, 1 Iran, 2 from S. Korea/Japan.

Still maintaining there's 'no widespread transmission of the virus in NSW'. Brings total in NSW to 13, Australia-wide 31.

cant find masks or handisanitizrr or anti bacterial soap atm. also 19oz cans of lysol went up to 9.59 at the walgreens

I linked it before but you should buy rubbing alcohol and clear aloe vera without any additives. At this point you'd have a better chance at making your own hand sanitizer.

Some amusing / horrible news from Israel:
They had held general elections. Now, what do you do with 4000 people under quarantine in fear of corona chan?

Coronavirus fears

The election is being held amid the coronavirus epidemic, with 10 cases so far confirmed in the country, and 5,600 Israelis reportedly under self-quarantine.

Voters under home quarantine, such as those who have recently travelled back to Israel from coronavirus hotspots, can attend special polling stations if they wear a surgical mask and show no sign of the disease.

Remember when the ebola outbreaks hit like 6 years ago and everyone was screaming that it was the end? How is this different?
That's what I keep saying. Though I don't remember it going on for a fucking month and the sperging getting to quite this level. Guess it's because clown world wasn't in full swing yet...

So it's in my town now, is it? Well that's just terrific. I was just prepping myself and my family for the worst. I'm confident on the long odds that my family makes it out pretty unscathed, though I have my grandparents to consider as they're both pushing eighty...

A semi-serious question I've been pondering for the last few weeks is: do I need to make plans to move? I live in a picturesque beach-town comprised of mostly retirees. Those retirees make up a portion of our local economy, as they depend on most of our services to get by in their advanced age. They also occupy a good deal of the local hospital's resources. What will become of this city if Corona-chan snuffs them out like candlelight? I don't know if this city will survive that kind of recession; tourism and catering to the elderly are kind of our two biggest exports.

But then I remember cynically that the rich elderly retirees will probably get adequate treatment. The ones that don't will be the ones that live in those 55+ gated communities of refurbished mobile homes that get around on golf carts. I wish there was something I could do for them, without alarming them.
