I refuse to comprehend how anyone who is not a real-life Garbage Pail Kid would wear this where people could see.

The mindset for something that subtle is binary: either they don't get it because they're squares or they do get it and will give them a high-five in solidarity.

The percentile of people who would both recognize that and disapprove is rather small, if nonexistent, in comparison. But now we have joined that group, so we also must now bear this curse of knowledge.

Nowadays most of this stuff seems to get ordered off the internet from whichever tumblr hipster had a nervous breakdown and is now a "maker" (read: sells arts and crafts online and guilts friends and parasocial e-followers into buying them). This kind of stuff was always cringey but when it was primarily stuff like renn faire artisanal blacksmithing, at least you could respect the craft, and most people like that tend to treat it as an actual business. Most of these tumblrites grew up immersed in the culture of e-begging and monetizing followers, so why be professional with their supposed craft when you can sucker people into buying substandard goods?

There was a Women's March back when it was trendy on a day I worked and we had quite a few women in cringy shirts come in. Every once in a while I will see a woke shirt or pronoun buttons but that's just a typical Commiefornia day.
