Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Not sure if it's just a ghetto hospital only experience or just a worldwide issue.
David Grant is supposedly the very best military hospital in the world. (X) But this isn't a question of being ghetto in this case, it's potential abuse of power and a definite disregard for all of the turning cogs in the machine.

On a related note, this hospital has a very current track record of civilian contractors stealing shit to sell on the black market, like that sandnigger who was caught stealing hardcore controlled substances after getting away with it for far too long. I Imagine a lot of masks were probably stolen before the info we've been sharing here for many weeks went mainstream.

This fake coughing trend is pretty weird.
Hey Min, we don’t want your Wu flu.

They will probably start stealing disinfectant from public toilets and/or hospitals soon.
If they aren't already. This so stupid.

Not sure what region of Germany you are in, but pharmacies and drugstores here started hanging up "DON'T ASK FOR DISINFECTANT - WE ARE OUT" signs last week already.
I work in retail, and yes, this is already happening. People have been stealing the hand sanitizer from the registers and pharmacy (this is in the northeast, U.S.). Someone said a few pages back that it would be the Shaniquas and Karens who were going to be the biggest assholes about this and I can confirm this is also true.

Today we briefed our teams about basic stuff like proper hand washing and other preventative measures and working with suppliers to get things like disinfectant back in stock.

We have a couple of workers really freaking out who are not going to be happy with anything less than a Wuhan style quarantine, it's kind of frustrating, especially since I have been talking about this with them since the end of January and they didn't think it was a big deal. They're wanting things like replacing all the office doors to be automatic and banning use of the refrigerator in the break room.

I'm glad I did my shopping last month, but I have to say I'm surprised people here are panicking to this extent as this part of the country is known for having an "eh whatever, we'll be fine, people are overreacting" attitude.

I'm more understanding of the tightrope people in charge have to walk between trying to get people to take it seriously while also keeping them from absolute panic.

Translated it says you better buy some masks we do not have enough in reserve.

43 million masks isn't even enough for a single hour if this goes sideways.

"Hong Kong health authorities" report the dog is now hosting CoV2 on its own, i.e., human-to-animal transmission.

Get well soon, pupper.

Hong Kong health authorities confirmed on Wednesday that a pet dog belonging to a Covid-19 patient had contracted the coronavirus, with experts calling it the first reported case of human-to-animal transmission.

The Pomeranian, which repeatedly tested “weak positive”since last Friday – suggesting it was surface contamination, with the dog picking up traces of the virus in its nose and mouth rather than being actually infected – will now remain under quarantine with the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for further testing.

“It is positive to tests and has been infected, so it is now quarantined in a centre by the department,” health minister Sophia Chan Siu-chee said during a regular press briefing.

“Further tests will be conducted and it will not be released until the tests return negative results.”

The department said experts from the University of Hong Kong, City University and the World Organisation for Animal Health had been consulted, and all “unanimously agreed that these results suggest that the dog has a low level of infection and it is likely to be a case of human-to-animal transmission”.

A spokesman stressed there was still no evidence that pet animals could be a source of infection of Covid-19 or that they could fall sick. He added that apart from maintaining good hygiene practices, pet owners need not be overly concerned and under no circumstances should they abandon their pets.

Oh, bugger. Imagine if we get this under control and have to worry about stray dogs, cats, pets, livestock, zoos...

Welp, it was foreseeable:

In other news, the same team of researchers whose paper I posted some (dozens of) pages ago just said that there are three sequences of the virus currently roaming in Lombardy, strongly indicating that the virus arrived in Italy long before the 21th of February (to the surprise of none). They are currently working on them, hopefully the philogenetic analyses will show when exactly the Wuflu arrived and where the first hotbeds were.
Sauce in Italian:

EDIT: also, the first positive man in Piedmont (79 yo) just died after a couple of weeks in ICU. It's true that he got already a lot of other health problems in advance, but still, the Chinese couple in Rome has been in ICU for more than three weeks, got declared clear of the virus and yet last week they were still hospitalized (I have not found more recent infos on them). This really shows how resource-consuming a single case is, if the infected numbers keep speedin up, well, health system collapse here we come!

I’m glad I got my paranoid panicking out of the way early and stockpiled food and household goods. I saw some people posting Costco in my area is completely out of all paper products, cleaning and sanitizing products, water, canned foods, rice, etc.

I’m pretty much at Netflix and chill now.

Hey min, this is why we don’t want to be around Chinese people. They brought it to Italy and 3k people are infected.

I sincerely hope that after this we see people more hostile to Chinese tourism and they stay the fuck home.

This just in. Hungary has 2 confirmed cases.
Iranian exchange students coming home from Iran, because we fucking need international university students.

The habbening is finally here, just confirmed 30 minutes ago.

Well its finally hit critical mass here in spain. And by that I mean OFFICIALLY, as I said before, it did lokg ago, but now the data is out, don't know the exact numbers if one of the other spanish speakers in the thread could check the news I'd be thankful but from what I've been told by the union member, yeah it's everywhere.

We also got our first death, and by that I mean one doctor suspected a weird case he got some time ago was a case, asked for an autopsy, and sure enough it was. So long story short, mofo from nepal decided to drop by with an extremely severe case of viral pneumonia early january, actually goes to the doctor late january because I guess coughing blood wasn't alarming enough for him to decide to have a check until half a month later, old as shit, heavy smoker, lungs were made out of ravioly long before corona decided to massage them. Doctor tries everything he can but antivirals are utterly worthless so he keeps him alive till the 12th of february which at that point no amount of medicine was aiding the bastard. Honestly knowing how quick spanish doctors are when it comes to finishing off old people I'm surprised he cared this much, hell I'm surprised he cared enough to ask for an autopsy, must be one of those new guys that still has this "hope for humanity" and "strong moral code" things I keep hearing about, so certainly not your average doctor around these area.

Point is these mofo came to spain literally for new years, so corona's been having fun while no one checked. My joining the dots moment was fucking prophetic at this point. I have been so smug the whole day. And I do feel guilty about it... a little bit. Eh who am I kidding I truly am an asshole.

Also btw yet again no increase in viral pneumonia or symptoms related to corona was noticed in the hospital he was treated, not even amongst the staff treating him or patients on the same wing. So let me repeat a prior comment and add CHINA EAT YOUR HEART OUT!

Outside of that bit of trivia, the nurse school has been canceling fucking EVERYTHING despite ministerial order not to do so. Practically every single union says they're probably pocketing the money, in a few weeks europe is likely to get info proving so and call the atention of the anti-corruption bastards yet again, but some do suspect maybe they're just idiots. I mean, with spanish politicians you can never discard stupidity.

Also spanish southern healthcare workers have been passing around audio from a llanito (person from gibraltar) so as soon as I get it converted to video and do the translation I'm commenting again cause it's fucking hilarious.

So I wonder if we will get people who will ignore quarantine this time, because at this point it's only a matter of time until some major areas get locked down.

Remember that nurse that was placed under one after coming back from the Ebola outbreak a few years back? Only for her to declare the isolation order illegal and made a media show of her leaving the house and riding her bike. She literally had people coming by her house with guns threatening to gun her down if she dared to go into any populated areas.

I can imagine a few idiots being like that and stating that the "government can't control my body" etc.

I am just happy HK did not just follow China's final solution to the pet problem.
