his father is some veteran. He probably was taught old school and got his ass whipped a few times. One of the point of contention with i believe his first wife, was the stepfather physically disciplining his son and the ex-wife being okay with it. Which apparently made him lost his shit.

Dont wanna devolve into a debate of physical discipline being okay or not but that seems to be the root of his issues.

Maybe he got spanked, maybe he did actually got beat nobody knows but him and his close family. Its definitively not an excuse for his own poor behavior.
