Furry Fandom and Drama General

So e621 has updated to new software, and this has replaced the home page with a new disclaimer screen similar to what Paheal has. As part of this update, e621 is now requiring a login to view specific controversial fetishes and automatically blacklists others.

One of the fetishes is cub, and even wiping the blacklist will not change this. You now need to login to the site to view cub art. On one hand this was coming for a while thanks to laws where e621 is hosted. On the other, as e621 has a tendency to mark posts as cub even if the character owners yell that they're 100% of age this is going to cause some meltdowns. During the last e621 tranny fight this exact scenario happened as a furry had their character flagged as cub. Other furry artists absolutely hate when their art is tagged as such on e621. Expect cub tagging to be much more strict as well thanks to this.

Right now furries are split over changing the design, which was done due to old code.

That tranny fight absolutely was a cub character. Disgusting to see people try to get support because "but muh transpeople" just to give a pass to their creepy shit.

Since when is watersports considered a “controversial fetish?”
Or am I just jaded at this point.

Probably just whatever is against the laws in the hosting country.

I would not particularly put watersports on the same level of a disemboweled child, no.
The difference is if you remove watersports from the blacklist it will show up. Cub on the other hand is much harder to host and the same goes with weebs and loli/shota.

My recollection is that FurAffinity was defending and running apologetics for the pedo shit, and it only finally got banned and purged from the site because someone contacted FA's donation processor (FA having long been banned from Paypal at that point).

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but Confuzzled has made a statement about what they plan to do in lieu of COVID-19. The TL;DR is that they aren't cancelling the con yet but are waiting for advice from the UK Board of Health.

Personally, I feel like continuing is a bad idea. Cons in general are just a breeding ground for disease. Everyone I've ever known who's gone to any convention has complained about " Con Flu " after getting back. Adding the facts that-
A: it's a convention which brings in people from all over Europe and some parts of the US and
B: Furries are notoriously unhygienic
This is basically a ticking bio-bomb waiting to go off.

...

Wait no. Maybe this is a good thing. Hopefully they won't cancel :story:

This is a fucking ticking time bomb. I'll laugh my ass off if Furries are the main cause of COVID-19 cases skyrocketing in the UK.

This reminds me of something that happened late last year on Twitter. There was a huge discussion about "Problematic Kinks" - things in hentai that Popufurs disagreed with because it was unrealistic or something. It came about the same time that the Zoosadism controversy was in full swing, and I did wonder if it was a diversionary tactic.

To add to that, other cons holding their shows in a city where Coronavirus is huge are being pressured to cancel. Emerald City Comic Con is having vendors cancel and is offering refunds thanks to this and I wouldn't be shocked if they inevitably cancel. At the same time, plenty of tech companies are trying to hold virtual meetings instead of flying people out to where it could easily spread. I've seen a few minor niche cons in the PNW area cancel over this as well because they'd rather skip a year then have everyone get fucking sick.

If furries don't cancel the con, they're pretty much taking the "why contain it" approach.

Texas Furry Fiesta just went off IIRC. Furnal Equinox in Toronto is in a couple weeks. I don't think anyone in the furry community is even thinking of this stuff. Sigh.

There are plenty of LGBT people who are not furries, and plenty of straight/bi furries. Calling them a LGBT community is misleading because it is not solely this.

Somewhere, in some timeline of the multiverse, someone just said "Thanks for gaywashing my hobby, you faggot." In response to that article.

Dude needs a better hobby.

Tag What You See, Tis' a cruel mistress.

It's also amazing how clueless furfags were to even the beta test site that was up since last November. The Hydrus Network had updated parsing scripts within no time.

A surprising amount of furries work as EMTs, too, which I never really understood how that happened.

So there's your very high risk group going to be in close proximity to hundreds of other furries.

Furnal Equinox actually sent out a huge ass email about this that basically boiled down to "we arent delaying or canceling the con, but we'll have more hand sanitizer around and dont forget to shower!!!". To be fair cons are a massive investment of time and money, and canceling one this close to it happening would be pretty nightmarish. But its also the perfect breeding ground for the virus to spread and it feels like the con takes priority over common sense. I wouldn't trust attendees to actually think about this sorta thing anyway considering how many STI outbreaks fur cons have had. FE is also right in downtown Toronto (literally a 10 min walk from Union Station) where the majority of people in the city travel or congregate through, making the likelyhood of it spreading further almost inevitable.

Furries had an entire season of AIDS spreading around a con because one wouldn't bother wearing a rubber or better yet, keep it in his pants. What makes anyone think they won't do the same for Corona?

Alcohol wash only kills bacteria. The dirt is still there and actually sometimes just ends up creating a film around a lump of dirt and bacteria instead

And then there are furries that think a slap of the gel under each arm will count as a shower anyway

Furries are going to die and no-one will be surprised

So some of you might remember Koji Fox, the guy who harassed & slandered ANW staff as homophobic for their policies as well as being the former spouse of an outed sex pest - Viro Sci Collie.

Well he's back with hotter takes than ever.

Trump better heighten his Secret Service detail or else this feisty twink might lightly caress him with his Totally Cruelty Free Horse Cock Dildo (tm).
