Yeah, that's exactly why they should stop enabling him and paying attorneys and shit for him to stay out of legal trouble. I'm not saying the blame is all on the parents but I dunno dude, their enabling behavior is bizarre and is doing Russel no good.

I think they feel responsible for him. Its counter intuitive but a lot of the time when a family feels they've really fucked their kids up, they'll do anything to keep the kid from seeing consequences because they feel like its all their fault the kid is like that, even if they couldn't have done anything to prevent it. You see it a lot in parents of sociopaths. It's a you-break-it-you-buy-it mentality, they think its their problem and they have to solve it.

The Greers adopted a kid who had a messed-up face and they felt bad for him. They let him get away with more than they should have because they figured he'd been through a lot of pain and had a lot more coming in his future. It helped make Russ into the shit human being he is, but I give anyone who adopts some Mobius kid a little slack---raising a non-droopy-faced kid to be normal is hard enough without having that handicap on top of it.

Even before any of the legal stuff, his parents seem to subsidize his life pretty extensively. If he were from a poor family, we would never have even heard of him, because he could never have the “songwriting “ sideline and hooker hobby he does on his own. If he had to use his salary to pay for his own living expenses, he would be a significantly less visible creep. And if he decided to creep teenage football games and such ( or other cheaper creeping) and got caught, he’d never be able to afford bail. While his parents don’t believe they fund his creeping because they don’t do so directly, the stuff they support to keep him alive makes his whole salary ‘play money’. His visibility to us via r/niceguys , his auditions, lawsuits, money to pay for stalking relatives of celebrities ... that’s all because he doesn’t have to support himself like a big boy.

They may not have intended to create a monster, but they are sustaining one. And I have trouble “blaming them” per se and understand all their choices suck. But they need to get the hell out of society’s way and let him feel some real consequences

The only thing that bothers me the most is the insane enabling, I won't even discuss his parents reasons behind said behavior because, as a lot of people have already said here, we don't personally know them, we just assume things.

What we can guarantee though is that the Greers are throwing money at Russ without even thinking about the consequences of doing it. You know what they say, the hell is filled with people with good intentions. Even if theGreers have all the good intentions in the world, it means nothing because look at the end result, a fucking entitled narcissistic goblin drooling everywhere and wasting oxygen while being perpetually horny.

Maybe they should step back, sit down and think for some minutes what in the hell they are doing and stop to financially enable Russ to keep being a pest.
I know Russ is an adult and will do whatever he wants, but an adult without daddy's money can only do so much before he finally crash and burn.

I think @The Dude was right. Russ's parents should file to have him declared incompetent, or at least get a conservatorship over him. He's proved he's a danger to himself and others, and isn't in touch with reality (he thought a mega-pop star dropped a song to distract from a small claims suit). He thinks he's in a relationship with Taylor Swift, and that the world is holding him back. Now, his parents will have a hard time getting any authority over him, because by design, it's hard to get someone declared incompetent. But they should at least try. Russ is delusional at the very least, and those delusions are putting others in danger.

EDIT: I really wanna know what Russ's IQ was measured as. He's batting above 70, which is the threshold for legit intellectual disability. He can read and write, and he understands that the legal system is there to resolve disputes between people and businesses. However, where he falters is that he doesn't get the nuances of the law, and he can't realistically evaluate his own competence at things. He thinks he's a legal genius when people who have no legal training whatsoever can spot the holes in his arguments. He thinks he's a musical genius when even laypeople can tell his songs are crap. Despite having the matter explained to him several times, he still doesn't get why Taylor can't take his song. He mangles common expressions, and seems to have difficultly navigating everyday problems. Quitting Walmart to catch a bus is the prime example here. I'd say he's high 80s or low 90s. We'll never know of course. Test results are protected by federal law, so if anyone got ahold of them and leaked them, Russ, for once, would have legitimate grounds to sue.

I'm more inclined towards the idea his parents ought to have him declared mentally incompetent and have him moved into a group home. Parent's house, group home... no matter what they choose, it's imperative they take away the internet from Russel and put him under watch of some responsible adult, be a parent, be a wrangler.

It has been years and Russel didn't show any signs of getting better, you would think his parents would've taken a fucking clue by now, but whatever, some people are slower than others about noticing behavioral patterns or can't accept reality very well.

It is clear as day at this point that the internet is causing more damage to Russ than doing any good, since it is his main vehicle of harassment. If they take his only entertainment away from him, it's important they do it while he is under the watch of someone, because he can turn his attention to the women around him and become a REAL nuisance (not a danger per se, more of an annoying pest) real quick.

I also don't know where you guys get the idea that if he goes to prison he'll be in danger either. Prison rape is largely a meme. Killings are extremely rare. No one's going to add months or years to their sentence to viciously beat up the sped. All three of those, when they do happen, are almost exclusively done to child molesters, serial killers, rival gang members or people who commit especially heinous acts. He might get a punch to the head when no one's looking if he mouths off to the wrong person, but he managed to get through his first prison stint without even that.

The most that will happen is he'll get court-ordered therapy with the threat of jail if he doesn't comply. As for medication, it takes a lot for a court to force someone to take meds against their will. Therapy will happen before that. I do hope they order a psych eval, because it might influence his treatment plan, but unless he's been hiding hookers in his basement, he's not going to a group home. He might get a week or so in jail to scare him, but nothing beyond that.
