Yeah people buying like 20 packs of shit tickets are stupid its clearly overkill the virus doesn't cause diarrhea so normal amounts of toilet paper would suffice but I still think its smart to have double the regular supply of it or at least enough to tide you over until you absolutely need to shop again if you have 2 months worth of food to live on then it makes sense to have 2 months worth of toilet paper imo. Also its a good idea to get it while you can because of the crazy panic shoppers that are buying skids of them. Hopefully stores will start putting limits on things to control the amount of people buying all the important things out giving everyone a chance to get what they need. If everyone bought even just double what they need most things wouldn't be sold out but greedy people buying the store ruin it.

Two major supermarkets here have imposed a one pack limit on toilet paper after a four pack limit failed to stop people buying absurd amounts.

The panic buying was triggered by social media claims that there'd be a shortage because most of our toilet paper is made in China. In reality, most of our toilet paper is manufactured locally.

The UK government now believes it will move from containment to delay within the next 10-14 days as a result of the Cabinet Office Briefing Room meeting held today (more commonly known as "Cobra" in the meeja).

The main aspect of delay will be to recommend to anyone with even a minor illness or respiratory illness to self isolate for 7 days.

Other potential measures include:

To ban large scale events.

To urge people to consider socialising for the duration, wether travelling and hanging out with friends is super necessary.

Recommend no longer hand shaking or going to the pub.

Aim is to try and level out the peak and to push it's peak spread away from the usual cold and flu season so it can be easier identified and pressures eased.

Personally I'm not so sure, we've already dropped by 20 on the daily, it's wether we'll see a significant ramp up. I suspect if 100 cases turn up in a day we'll see this delay and mitigation measures hit hard.

Sorry I haven't been active lately. I've had to attend some briefings on the COVID-19 and relocated my parents to my summer house, in North India away from huge population centers. Last I read in the papers, we have 44 confirmed COVID-19 cases, no word on their condition. The uptick in infections comes from Indians returning from Italy and Europe where they are assumed to have caught the virus. We are sending another IAF mission to get our citizens out of Iran, Indian stock market has fallen. Lastly, we have 52 testing sites around the country to help spot COVID-19 cases. Luckily I am a radiologist so I have less chances of being infected but even so, I can't help but paranoid. I'll make another update in 24 hours.

I’m just simply pointing out that the areas that are handling it best will likely have a lot more infected (on paper) earlier on, and that people should should take simple precautions regardless of local infected numbers (a little extra hygiene and exercise can go a long way health-wise)

Nah mate, ain't Lavender oil, Thieve's oil is what they're going to try to sell you. For real, and you can take that 'Thief' part anyway you want. Now, some of the components of the oil (rosemary, lemon, cinnamon, clove, and eucalyptus) have been researched found to be decent antiseptics on objects. But you don't really want the stuff directly on your skin, or god forbid near any mucous membrane. There are far cheaper alternatives to YL if you just need to have a bottle of smelly stuff that isn't bleach to disinfect your plague doctor mask with.
