Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Since my last update, there was one more case yesterday and three more announced today, putting Poland at a total of 25 confirmed coronavirus cases. One of them is a student, which is obviously problematic. This is most likely the factor that forced the issue: all nurseries, kindergardens, schools and universities will be closed for at least two weeks. Good decision, not only will it greatly limit the chance of community spread via asymptomatic carries, but also lower traffic and thin out crowds in public transport. Doubly important for me because my mother's a teacher, so she's much safer now. Deserves a break too. Schoolchildren are unbearable these days.

Edit: furthermore, cinemas, theatres, concert halls etc. will also be closed until further notice. Some serious lockdown in progress.

Obviously Not folks. Having some fun, but when you look at this video I hope it can not live on a top-roll longer than 2 days.

I would post this separately as it's actually funny, but some faggot will probably just merge the thread:
With coronavirus fears growing across the county, several local stores are quickly selling out of basic necessities like toilet paper.

At the corner of 30th Street and C Street in Golden Hill, a family has set up shop. Cruz, Hudson and Grant, along with their mother Tiffany, have fully decorated and branded a small stand selling toilet paper for $2 a roll.

“Hello, would you like a roll of toilet paper because of the coronavirus because you might need to stock up?” Cruz asks when potential customers approach.

Even though Cruz, Hudson and Grant have the day off from school, Tiffany is teaching them the basics of supply and demand.

“Finding what the need is and trying to meet that need,” explained Tiffany.

People worry the coronavirus outbreak could get serious enough to keep them at home. In their sales pitch, the boys referenced a viral video of two women in another country fighting in a grocery store over toilet paper rolls. They told NBC 7 at least 30 people stopped to see what they were selling and some were willing fork over the $2, or even more.

“We’re willing to negotiate. That was really just the number two [$2], just seemed fitting,” said Tiffany. “But if someone really needs our toilet paper, you can have our toilet paper.”

At close of business, the brothers had about $60 in their pockets from about 60 rolls sold.

This family hopes their customers get more than just the squares.

“Make people less scared and how to help. I just want them to know we are trying to help them,” said Hudson.

What public spirited young boys.

You guys DO know that there's ready made bread, biscuit, pancake and muffin mixes? With some of them, all you have to do is add water. Yes, they're more expensive than scratch and yes, scratch tastes better when a talented cook is making it. But some of y'all are thinking you're gonna buy a gunnysack of flour, cane sugar, and brewer's yeast, and be some kind of James Townsend, Frontier Gourmet. When in reality, you're probably just going to make a mess in your kitchen and waste precious resources cleaning it up. There's nothing wrong with using a commercial mix (especially as a base to add your own spices and ingredients to.) A crisis is not a good time to discover whether you're a decent cook or not, especially if you've never really cooked from scratch before.

Nigga, I’ve been making my own sourdough since I was a kid.

It really is pathetic how they're trying to pretend it's not theirs.

The examples of shit like "The Spanish Flu" are hilarious. We know where it originated from, but it was called the Spanish Flu thanks to Spain's neutrality in the First World War meaning they could report their figures accurately. Everyone else was still under war time censorship and it was a good way for the papers to get around it.

Seems reason Sanchez stabbed Italy is because he was afraid of looking "weak". Fucking idiot ain't getting reelected that's for sure. Discontent is growing as many pointedly ask why the Chinks get a free pass while our allies get the boot. PSOE sure as shit has no solid answer to that.

Anti-gipsy sentiment also growing, as I told you before those cunts have been caught stealing, scalping and now even SPITTING ON ICU DOORHANDLES TO DELIBERATELY TRY AND INFECT TERMINAL PATIENTS TO CAUSE CHAOS SO THEIR ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES GO UNNOTICED. And since most Gypsies come from Romania, and came due to Europe's open border shit, now we got many asking why Italy gets the boot while we let the much more severe plague of Romanians go unchecked. So anti-Europe sentiment is at an all time high (which is saying something considering our prior record.)

Shit's going to hell politically. All other senses are fine but closing the flights was the worst decision those cuntards could take. Get ready for fun.

One interesting aspect of this will be the population explosion in and around January through April 2021.

Studies have shown in cities where power cuts have happened that 9 months after, there is a spike in child birth due to their being not much else to do when you are stuck at home. You eat, you watch TV and...you fuck.

It will be interesting next year when we get an explosion worldwide of child births around the same time from the quarantines being put in place; and we may get an unusual new strain of demand on the healthcare system in 2021 - child births clustered around a defined 2-3 month period.

The wise people will stock up on hardware, it is time to get down and do some home renovations. Paint the rooms, fix the crap you've left undone for eons. As a side note, before TP, think about real things like the fact that home use Of HVAC is going to go through the roof, get your AC checked and make sure it's in good condition because your AC rep is going to be run off his feet and may not be able to get to you for weeks - and he might get the virus and be unable to visit at all. Buy light bulbs, they're going to be on twice as much as before. Be practical.

Buy condoms.

like I said before people are dumb. and I mean people in general, before someone gets triggered again. you have DOCTORS going out and possibly infecting others, anyone saying "well, if trump would've been honest no one would have died!!!11" is beyond stupid at this point.

it means fuck for all the poor mistreated sheeple if they want to keep the wheels going for shekels or because they fucking have to keep the flow of supplies going and public order somewhat intact.

that people still haven't figured out those simple facts says more than enough why government and politicians behave like they do.

PR and getting ahead of it is probably also a huge part, before the media or even the government tears them a new one. nothing beats outrage clickbait, and walmart forcing people to get sick basically writes itself. not to mention possibly getting sued over it.

not gonna happen, not in the us. wasn't that the main reason the second amendment was put into place?
tanks also can't kick down doors and patrol street corners, and as big as the us military is, they can't do it in several cities at once.
it's also not very effective. what's gonna happen when shit hits the fan is they'll block off an area at strategic points (think manhattan and all bridges) and wait it out. tough luck when you're the one stuck inside.

not to mention, soldiers can get sick too. and there isn't enough protective gear for each one. and that's before they say "fuck it" and go awol.

-You use the military to augment the regular police force.

-You wouldn't need to worry about mass gatherings of people with guns because nobody wants the plague.

-Much like regular police, the military can use all dem dere fancy radios, jeeps and heliplopers to move around swiftly to project force i.e. deliver curb stompings where they are needed.

-The military has more than enough gas masks after the gulf war. They also have the training to use them.

-For all the hurr durr about freedom and defiance Americans are conditioned from birth to follow the rules and think inside the box way more than you'd care to realize. Back when I didn't have insurance I'd sometimes tag along to my mom's appointments. Indian dermatologist and Russian GP had no problems prescribing ""my mom" meds for "her" skin condition. American doctor started bugging the fuck out when I asked and started to accuses me of trying to entrap him. Like, yea you dumb motherfucker me and the elderly Eastern European lady are deep cover and with the health board trying to come for your license over some skin cream. All of that flaky skin and redness are part of my elaborate disguise. The boys at headquarters spent six hours on the make up.

AGAIN LIKE I MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY THEY WON'T LOCK DOWN THE COUNTRY. JUST MAJOR CITIES, HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORT HUBS.

THE GOAL IS TO SLOW IT DOWN SO THEY HAVE MORE TIME TO TREAT PEOPLE BEFORE THE HOSPITALS GET SWAMPED.

If you bought shit you wouldn't normally eat you're an idiot. If SDoesn'tHTF you'll have a ton of useless provisions. I just bought more of what I normally use(except switching to canned/dried for a lot of fresh fruits)...and party liquor. TBH though as far as bread goes unless you burn it the end result will be pretty much guaranteed to wind up better than that wonderbread dish sponge bullshit that they sell at the supermarket. Either way I'm hunkering down with my Ma and she cooks better than most Michelin Star restaurants. But SK, everyone says that about their mom. Yea, but even my pussywhipped best friend fought his gf on this point when she said that to me becasue my moms cooking is that unquestionably good. I feel sorry for you guys stuck eating store mix.

Which is fine, for the short-term (Less than a couple months).

The problem with ready/instant bread mixes is spoilage. Plain flour(s), stored properly (cool, dry, airtight) will keep a lot longer than packaged goods.

No matter what, the commercially sealed bags of bread mix will lose their airtight property and let moisture in, and many aren't sealed well to begin with. And then, if you dump them into your own vacuum containers, mixes have added moisture for bulk/consistency/baking speed.

Moonshining hand sanitizer seems to be the thing.
Sadly I missed that train since there's absolutely no hand sanitizer around here anymore, and Amazon/ebay is stifling capitalism by taking down people scalping toilet paper online so I doubt anyone would have luck moving product through them. I guess the little guy can't profit from the masses since it'll cut into their own exploitation.

E3 has been cancelled:

So all these shutdowns and travel restrictions - obviously to limit the spread of the virus but it looks like it is too late for containment, what can still be achieved is to slow it down and buy time. But my question is "buy time for what?" It sounds like a vaccine is over a year away. I suppose the goal is simply to spread out the demand on health services so that it doesn't all come in one catastrophic wave.

For once, haji may be onto something here.

At least sign-spinners could still find work.

I'm voting this as the Best New Job for 2020. Humiliating my ass, just think of all the opportunities to pull some strange.
