Awesome, Very excited for the results!

On a completely unrelated note if you develop any sort of cough in the next weeks I suggest you go track down and hug any local government officials you can and give them your love. :) :heart-full:
So far it's the usual rude motherfuckers. There's this guy that looks like Saddam Hussein and Walter Matthau combined and he's got his harem with him. Imagine being alpha by treating your bitches to the food pantry.
Things must be great with from being from Curryfartistan. I mean, they all look like trolls but for all I know that's top shelf pussy in his homeland.

that's like half their audience

my car had an oil leak and was in the shop so had to take the buss for a few days and 2 days ago this old dude riding in the seat in front of be had a coughing fit and then the day after i read the news about 16 new cases in my state and in towns both north and south of my city. i might be fucked

Don't sweat it. He probably just had Tuberculosis.

Coumo says that the CDC are a bunch of lazy Moolies, that he's tired of their shit and will do the tests himself. I might be paraphrasing a bit.

probably because "regular flu" (of which there are multiple strains per year, btw. there isn't one "flu") has been spreading in the community for far longer, has a much lower mortality rate, we can very rapidly make vaccines for them and have adequate treatments lined up. The same cannot be said for covid-19. keep in mind also that while flu testing is extremely common (i've personally gotten it done multiple times this year alone), wuflu testing is rare. there are likely even many people who died from "pneumonia-related complications" who were never tested and thus not marked as a confirmed case/death.

c'mon man, don't go the way of the politicians. countries dont get this fucked up from "just the flu." especially china.

Am not going the way of the politicians. I provided statistics to support my opinions. Would ask you to look at the links provided and demonstrate to me where I am wrong. Personally don't believe I have even been tested for flu, and am in the seventh decade of life.

We indeed have flu vaccines. But they are not always effective, sometimes less than 50% effective. And many people cannot, do not, or will not be vaccinated. Right now the "regular" flu is widespread over the entire country, many thousands hospitalized at one time or another, and thousands dead in the USA alone.

The only country I consider fucked up is China. That's due to the CCP sitting on the initial information of the virus breakout for so long, their miserable, deficient medical system for the proles, their unsatisfactory water systems, their medieval tactics to keep people penned up, their creating the virus in the first place (Wuhan Biological Warfare Facility), arresting doctors who raise valid concerns, and their constant stream of lies, even in the face of manifold videos and tweets. This is on them. A less ossified and paranoid regime would have handled this better.

Far as any other country being fucked up, it's hard to understand why so many countries believe the sky is falling when many more routinely die of the "regular" flu every year. If these countries' governments know something about this virus they are not telling, they need to spill the beans. All I know is that the virus targets the elderly/people with immune deficiencies more than apparently any other group of people. If there's more, then let's hear it. I go with what I know and the statistics available. Should I get new, reliable information have no problem changing my position on this virus. Seriously, I'm likely far more at risk than you are, and I'm not sweating it.

It's still very odd seeing the stark dichotomy between "Just a flu bro" and "IT'S HAPPENING!" here as well as IRL/in the media/from govt. Interestingly even Hannity today was saying and having people on saying there will be a recession and if you can self-quarantine do so. Yesterday he was 100% "just a flu".

I find it interesting to read between the lines on what people say vs what they do. Trump and the govt in general (fed and state) seem to be saying, also large corporations:
1. Don't panic
2. It's not as bad as the flu
3. It will be over soon

What they are doing is:
1. Setting up quanantines
2. Planning to expand medical care
3. Putting money towards paying people to sit at home
4. Doing a stimulus in advance of a recession

My take is that at higher levels, they've known what we've known since January or even late December, and they are rolling out the necessary life and social changes slowly to forstall sheer panic. The fact that any company who can is doing at home work, Walmart is saying they'll pay associates to stay home so they can eat and pay rent w/o working, major events are being cancelled, and Trump is pushing a temporary halt to payroll taxes--this is all huge. If it was "just the flu stop panic buying TP" that they were saying a week or 2 ago, they wouldn't have so quickly done all this. And it's just starting.

Knowing what I know and being in public is hard. I can be frank with my family, but to powerlevel a bit at work I have a leadership role. When people ask me what I think about the virus, I have to play it down and pretend I don't worry. I do what I can though. A few weeks ago someone said they were buying masks, and I said "make sure you get N95." If people say they stocked up on food, I don't talk about what prepping I've done, but I do say things like "make sure you don't eat any of that until you can't shop anymore in a store."

I am still convinced that we will be in a huge recession starting this fall, and there will be huge shortages of consumer goods starting at the end of summer and a spike in unemployment. Now though I'm leaning towards there being shutdowns of schools, malls, events, air travel, etc for weeks very soon. Quarantines, and restrictions on travel, especially state to state, which I didn't think would really happen when I thought about this a month ago.

He's just using it as an excuse to shit on trump. In fact he might make things worse

I must take public transport everyday and there will always be someone coughing.
And now I start having a sore throat. Am I fucked?
Try and contact local health authorities if you can to see what your options are.

If you have coronavirus you have a problem. If you bankrupt yourself due to the incentives of the corporatist US health system, that might not be that much better than actually having coronavirus unless you're a senior citizen.

My dad is one of the people who doesn't understand the gravity of the situation and he's obsessed with going outside with his fucking bike every day because he's a sport-obsessed meathead. Is there a good way to convince him to stay home? He's probably at a higher risk than anybody else since he is 50 years old and already had a minor pneumonia 20 years ago that still makes him cough everyday. I don't want to lose him.
Goddamn. Stop being such a doomer. Let your dad bike. Just warn him about what precautions you can take during these timely situations.

I told my mother in graphic detail about everything going on in Italy, especially about the older people being triaged out of care. I was going to call the nursing home this morning and ban her from going in and seeing my dad, but they closed the whole place to visitors before I got to it, and all of it got her attention.

Get ready for Trumps 9pm address where he will:

1. Tell you the economy is great.
2. That he will help banks and may even be nice enough to help the average Joe.
3. That the danger is overblown and you'll see it all be OK.
4. The its China's fault.
5. That its the CDCs fault.
6. That It's somehow the fault of previous administration policies.
7. That he had no control over it.
8. That if he had known it was this bad, but because others didn't tell him, that now he will really handle it.
9. That there are BIG TAX BREAKS coming and while he doesn't have ANY details, he'll get right back to you.
10. That Wall Street love him and they will get looked after.
11. That the Flu is worse and kills more and it's overblown.
12. That his hunches "trump" scientific "experts".
13. That Democrats and the media have made this worse than it "really is".
14. Its the Fed Reserves fault.
15. The Dow will bounce back REAL soon.
16. We have the best health system and are fully prepared and theres nothing to worry about.

The fun thing is that mitigation measures have to go on for about two months. Then they'll kick back in again during winter, which is when we should see the actual peak of this in the US.

Nobody's really talking about this. The global economy can't weather that.

The general consensus I'm getting from the people around me falls into either "complete denial, don't even talk to me about that", "Jesus will take the wheel" or "I crave death". On the plus side, I can still buy toilet paper easily.

They've finally closed schools down, so that's something. I find it really retarded that people are still taking fucking cruises and ferries. You'd think after the 2nd one they'd get the idea that its ng.
