Air travel prices are mostly determined algorithmically, so it'll be based on how much people are still buying tickets to those places. If travel drops across the board, prices'll drop; if it stays the same or increases to those locations, prices will change accordingly.

My suspicion is that travel will drop across the board, and will probably continue to be weak well after the worst part is over. So prices should be relatively low for a while.

I don't get that. The two key groups that will spread this virus far and wide are students, who spend their time in crowded areas and will bring it back to their homes, and businessmen, who are on constant flights to the busiest cities and are often going from one office to another. Closing off those two would be beneficial to stopping further spread.

Who knows how well it cleans new SARS, but it keeps the phones and screens legible unless they have funky coatings.

Seems like Amerifats are going to get a crash course in resource allocation in the medical sphere. A lot of people think universal care is good and obviously we should move towards it, but the people here ain't the kind that accept a 'no' when they make a demand. I could see this getting bad enough they use it to acclimate to the idea that while healthcare is a 'right', like other rights "it has limits". Likely they would make some health metric quotas to get care. Can't diet your way down to 400 pounds? No surgery for you. Obviously our collective money is better spent elsewhere.
