Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

Both of the local school districts where I reside are still in session, but pretty much all extra-curricular activity is postponed for at least a month. No athletic competitions, no Open House, no concerts/rallies/dances, no fundraisers, and no letting outside groups borrow facilities so they can cough on everything. The local performing arts festival hasn't pulled the plug yet with only a couple performers dropping out entirely.

The situation with the school districts may eventually change as everyone seems to be following the governor's pace; the people I know among the school staff keep noting how many students that haven't recovered from common seasonal illnesses are being brought to school only to be sent back home because they're obviously still very ill. Not coronavirus, but people who probably shouldn't be parents keep bringing their vomiting/feverish child to school to share the misery so when some child inevitably contracts the virus the rest of the student body and facility could potentially be not that far behind.

For higher education, the state college has cancelled all in-person instruction for a few days to transition fully to online instruction while the city college is continuing on with no changes.

Both CBS and NBC are suspending their late night talk shows. NBC for at least two weeks and CBS until the 30th.

Live Nation Reportedly Plans to Pause All Tours Over Coronavirus Concerns

As the number of cancellations on account of the COVID-19 coronavirus continue to mount, Live Nation Entertainment and AEG will postpone all of their large-scale tours. Billie Eilish, Cher, and Post Malone are among the artists whose tours will likely be affected. Previously, acts like Pearl Jam, Madonna, and My Chemical Romance announced postponements.

...and nothing of value was lost.

I like how they were originally talking about just doing away with the live audience for awhile, then apparently realized how bad the "talent" would look without the trained monkeys to laugh and applaud when the sign lights up and just opted to shut it all down instead.

Not the late night television! How will the world know that Orange Man is bad?

Mike Dewine just announced that all schools in Ohio, starting at the end of next monday, will be on a 3 week break. State testing will likely be waived for the year. Co-workers were flabbergasted when he stated that. Supposedly two additional cases have been confirmed but wont be announced until tomorrow afternoon. The schools are still not sure if they will send non critical employees home.

AYFS? There is literally nothing for the employees to do without the kids other then get each other sick and contaminating the recently cleaned buildings. Attendance will not be counted against the schools since the state is mandating this, so money isnt an issue here. People are pants on head retarded, I swear.

I just know my whole town will go under some sort of quarantine where everything's gonna close. There's nothing but mom and pop shops who love to close at any inconvenience, and since our county is surrounded by the virus currently, it won't take long.

The corporate-owned company I work for will still be in session most likely. Unless I get sick I'm still gonna go to work. It'll be like going through a deserted wasteland

Well, finally got kicked out of the office for a few weeks. I'll be glad to be safely on the other side of the internet from my corona-scoffing boomer peers.

A Kiwi here guessed August some time ago and at this rate, I'd tend to agree.

If this is around through August, everyone is screwed.

Maybe the NPCs will wake up if their regular stream of orange man bad NPC programming is interrupted.

Mayor of Jersey City is forcing places with Liquor licenses to close at 10PM and any place with capacity over 25 people to have sign in sheets to let track those who have it.

A good number of my boomer relatives and coworkers are convinced it’s all hysteria to make Trump lose the re-election.

My new england state did the same thing today. Governor on radio then TV today in full SHUT IT DOWN mode.
That kicked off the panic at the stores. I drove by a few supermarkets and the lots where so full there where cars backed up on the street. Friend of mine texted me photo's of the super walmart he shops at. The freezer section was BARE.
I expect the Governor to tell all "none essential" state workers to stay home tomorrow or monday.

ALL collages are now "remote learning". Towns are closing their school systems left and right.
