Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

So, how long do we have before this hits the homeless?
I'm sure it has already in seattle, which is a pretty big homeless population. Homeless people dying of pneumonia isn't exactly news though so it is hard to say anything about an increase in deaths.

the lack of testing is seriously fucking up the ability to get any reliable information about this.

Africa’s liable to get absolutely bodied by this

The hospital staff are still being told not to wear masks, no matter who's getting put at risk and they're still behaving very strangely about it. It's getting harder for them to keep people ignorant from the fact that they don't have enough PPE and they've resorted to ordering airmen to not even use their own personally purchased masks so they can keep up the lie that masks spread the virus. They're barely even trying to lie about it to the point that they sound like the lazy, unreasonable parent who tells their child "because I said so".

Hell yeah, we've been out of PPE for a while. I wasn't kidding about the shortages.

going into work be like

In Colorado, following Polis making the verbal declaration of a state of emergency and requiring employers to provide sick leave (and pay for it) for testing there is grumbling over it's ligitamacy. Nothing has been submitted in writting, nor is it clear wether Polis actually has that authority.

Excerpt:

"I'm very disturbed,” said Republican Sen. Bob Gardner of Colorado Springs. He wondered how lawmakers are supposed to act on something that hasn’t been finalized.

Gardner also questions some of the state actions Polis announced on Tuesday, including requiring certain industries give their employees paid time off if they need to be tested for the coronavirus. “I'm not sure what the governor's authority is for that. It may very well exist, under the state labor laws, but, who is exactly covered by that? What is the duration of that? There are a lot of unanswered questions.”

On Tuesday evening, the legislature’s Executive Committee spent a good portion of its meeting trying to figure out whether the emergency declaration was even official, and how much they can prepare without having anything in writing. One Republican leader called the situation odd."

“I mean a public announcement, a press conference -- if there is no written documents saying that there's an executive order that's declaring a state of emergency, that's my concern,” said Republican House Minority Leader Patrick Neville."

Lol social media in Belgium is full of sourpusses complaining about people stocking up on food and toiletpaper.

Also, a bunch of muzzies and white saviors are using this meme that says:
To all the people stocking up on food, toilet paper ect; never look down on refugees ever again.
Because a virus outbreak and people fleeing war is the same right?

Acosta is SUCH a faggot. "Trump is concerned about coming into contact with people infected with coronavirus." Of course he is! Who the fuck isn't?

I expect tons more virtue signalling from white savior super SJWs in the coming future.

I think that the second biggest failure of the West in all of this is downplaying the situation when we already had plenty of horrifying info coming out of China. The biggest mistake is obviously giving all our masks to China. The whole "it's just a flu" thing caused most people to mentally check out. And now they are all super complacent. All the dingleberries got their programming and now TPTB are having a hard time overwriting it.
Boris isn't even playing it down. They're complaining that he's too negative. The CMO said the UK will be like Italy in about four weeks.

The government is basically saying: "We've run the models and we think this is the best thing to do. Maybe it's counter intuitive but we have to take into account the r.etards that won't listen to us."

Meanwhile the r.etards didn't listen to the press conference and think nothing is being done.

There are some other people asking for the data to rerun the models which is a fair complaint.

went out walking my dog earlier today and for some reason there were tons of people out, like 4-5 times as many as usual and there's no major festival or anything happening in my city, maybe there really is something to this whole "the virus makes you retarded and wanting to travel around" theory.

I am not optimistic concerning this point, but people need to realize that the train has switched rails. The days of bloodsport politics ended last week. People have to get it through their heads that now we are in a very unique, very decisive sort of situation. We can get back to slinging mud at each other after this is over, in fact that sounds lovely. I can't wait to get back to it.

But if we want to be able to get back to that, we need to tie down and get working. Quibble about getting hourly workers paid afterwards, lord knows there's already enough corruption sapping the system dry. So just take the money and shunt it over to the public. Now. Let them know they can bail out for a couple weeks and be safe at home.

Otherwise this is when we compound the damage to ourselves.

Also, now knowing the damage the virus does is very scary, despite that I don't know what most of words mean. Has any virus does damage that bad before? Or did Corona-chan break new ground?

It's a coronavirus, and seems quite similar to SARS, with one of the names for this new and improved 2019 edition being SARS-CoV-2, literally SARS 2.
Doesn't seem as severe as SARS on a case by case basis, but it obviously has a much easier time spreading.

Trump is giving a 3pm EST press conference. Should be interesting.

With various states activating the National Guard, here's a reminder of where the US quarantine hospitals are set up.

These were originally planned for travelers coming into the US needing quarantine. With the travel ban in place, word is they are being converted to ICUs even though they only hold 250 people each.

I've driven by one, the facilities can be observed from the road. Saw activity, could not tell you what's going on but did notice tents and temporary structures set up nearby. There's room - a lot of it - for more structures to go up.

Hoping we learn more during today's conference about how the Feds are coordinating with National Guard in various states. Have the feeling they're about to announce limits on interstate travel, which would be the first step before going house to house. Going to be listening for what he doesn't say.

I fear we're nearing the point where it's time to get away from the cities. While my personal health risk is low, that changes if there's a high infection rate or supplies become scarce. The vile, despicable acts of mobs concern me more than the government, being locked in somewhere with people going feral would probably push me over the edge.
