Edit: Its apparently a soft shutdown. Meaning that if you need someone to watch your kids or your kids relies on the school to get their first two meals, there will be people at the school for that.

I mean, the alternative is the nurses and disaster relief workers just leave their kids at home by themselves, or stop going to the hospital. Or I guess they could leave them with an elderly relative; that seems like a good idea. There aren't exactly a lot of good options here.

The thing is healthcare, and disaster workers are really going to need childcare right now. Watch the JRE podcast on tuesday the epidemiologist guy said the problem with canceling schools is 40% of nurse have school age kids. Meaning taking them out of school could effectively take out a large amount of nurses.
