Inactive Andrew Dobson / Tom Preston / CattyN - STOP DOING SEXIST CRAP

Not only he sucks as an idea guy, he had what..mm..3...4 comics? If you're supposed to be a guy who comes up with the next movie or even TV series, you need to have at least five or hell ten ideas incase any ones you pitch get shut down. Combined when your ideas get shut down. you either: A. Try to quickly fire off another one; B. Listen to what your bosses really want and see if you can somehow change your existing idea to fit their desire or C. Stop and ponder how you can save said idea when the employer hasn't said what they are actually looking for. Now question class, can anyone of you see Dobbo follow any of these three steps?
Here’s a full list of all Dobson’s comics as well as a brief on what they were.

Kinda random of me to bring it up now, but that redesign of that butch lesbian makes her look like she's from the "Good Boys" Movement.

Let's look at Dobson's great ideas:

Alex ze Pirate. Pretty much a One Piece Knockoff with bits of Slayers and Ranma shoved down its throat.
Percy Philips. Pretty much Detective Conan, only devoid of charm, wit or even the least amount of effort.
Danny and Spot. Pretty much Garfield plus Ctrl+Alt+Del shoved up its bum.
And the less we talk about his "Guy in a relationship with a girl that is the daughter of a zoo janitor and a monkey"-story, the better.
You forget Patty, which entire plot was just lesbians.

New animation test.

Besides the way the eyes look, this isn't half bad considering Dobson's usual output these days. The fact that he doesn't even try to look for a job in animation and put his "dream project" on the backburner is really tragic when you get down to it. Most people who enter the industry almost always wind up doing grunt work or stuff they don't want to work on first before actually getting a chance to do what they want to do. That Dobson refuses to go this route and take "no" as an answer is one of the saddest things about the man and his (lack of) skills. Him doing grunt work would improve on his skills and gain himself experience, but nope! Make shitty Miraculous comics and repost older comics instead of actually doing something of worth. Hell, just getting a simple retail job would suffice in the short term, but even that seems beneath the man. And believe me, once the parental tugboat dries out, he's got nothing.

What also worries me is that with the COVID-19 shit going around, he'll use it as an even more convenient excuse to not do anything, especially since his parents are in that bracket of infection possibility.

It boggles the mind. The number of chances and the amount of advantages that Dobson enjoyed while learning his "craft" would have given anyone with just a smidge of ambition a massive boost to take root in animation. He went to a top notch college, had a massive fanbase on dA and instead of improving, he languished in mediocrity and told anyone to fuck off that warned him that he'd not sustain that fanbase without constant work, improvement and a nicer attitude. I mean, he was never able to really live off his "craft", which should have been a hint that his dA fame was fickle and pointless in terms of actual sales, but it would have given him the chance to at least appeal to some company to give him a chance.

But here's the kicker:
When we talk animation, most of us would think Disney and some other companies, most likely suffering from CalArts-Cancer, but there are so many more areas where an animator could have ended up working. For instance, failing to become a superstar of Animation-fame, Dobson could have still gotten a job in some company that does animation for TV ads.
He'd never do that, mind you, since he wants to be in charge of his own movie, where he's only doing the "idea guy" work.
And given how shitty all his stories are and how he never ended one propperly, it's no wonder he never got off on that foot, even as an idea guy, he sucks.
Meanwhile, Andrew Chesworth worked on Frozen, Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, and Moana. He taught for a year at CalArts. He worked as a character animator for Klaus. And now he works at Taiko Studios as- you guessed it- an idea guy, directing and producing short films for them. He is everything Dobson wanted to be.
Ken Ashcorp was right.

It gets better, remember his “wacky asian roommate”?

Who could forget Dobson's respectful and racially sensitive depiction of that guy?

The first half comes across like a genuine and well-meant blog entry and then he goes full Dobson, where he implies that Ke Jiang just happened to have everything fall into his lap and that he "didn't even have to try" and all that jazz. Especially since Dobson blatantly states that he only can't hate on the guy since he is a "friend". Here's an idea: If he's a friend, there is no reason to be mad or jealous that something good happened to him. If he is a friend, it is complete and utter garbage behaviour to imply that he had fall everything into his lap, when we know for a fact that Dobson had everything fall into his lap, but he just ignored that in favour of cranking out some more half-assed garbage "good enough" comics.

Those two are accomplishing stuff Dobson wishes he could do. Dobson's main issue, along with other things, is that he thinks he holds a high sense of importance, only to realize he's a low tier dick who had everything fall into his lap, but squandered it.

Ke Jiang probably had numerous failures before he got to Disney. Chesworth probably did too. They actively worked to better themselves, though. Dobson, however, has admitted, several times, that he's happy as a mediocre artist who won't take criticism. Who would've thought Disney isn't interested in mediocre artists who don't take criticism? Certainly not Dobson.

"iF cOnGrEsS wAnTeD tO, tHe dEbT wOuLd vAnIsH!"
this is like those idiots that rage about 'herp derp govt should print money to pay off the debt! govt should create ALL the money and not let banks create ANY!' While the current system is not ideal as it causes some inflation, surely there are MORE THAN ENOUGH historical examples of what happens when countries did exactly that, and it was universally disastrous (Weimar Germany, Venezuela, Zimbabwe)? Banks may be greedy but they are not exceptional enough to sabotage their own interests. But dobson wouldn't know anything about that.

I don't think the roomate thing really eats away at him because Dobson Doesn't do 3D Animation or modeling all that much. He seems to still be butthurt that 3d replaced 2D.

Although anything Turner or Disney related has a fucked up hiring process they have like 8 layers of HR, everything takes eons and they mass hire and fire people routinely.

That and I think both are still mostly centralized on the west coast as far as production goes(IIRC Turner stopped doing animation at their Atlanta location years ago like around season 2 and 3 of Clone Wars and changed to overseas studios) and things are up in the air with California's fate the quality of life is terrible and many companies are moving out.

But yeah usually before landing a stable job at Turner or Disney and outside of nepotism, takes years of failure and setbacks with some successes in between.
