Canada has closed its borders to non-citizens and non-permanent residents. (Source/Archive)

ETA: updated while I was linking the post. Anyways, the prime minister is currently doing a live update to the country and it sounds like anyone who is symptomatic will be turned away unless they are citizens/permanent residents, and those will be required to quarantine. Immediate family members of Canadian citizens will be allowed into the country and it sounds like most US citizens will be allowed to come into the country. Most airports (except for the big ones) won't be allowing international travel in the coming weeks.

Also all the kids crying that schools aren't closed yet. Apparently they think schools and universities are "mass gatherings" but regular people going to work isn't.

Surely they'll be closed in a few days though and any headteacher could voluntarily do it today.

People still aren't understanding that if you go into lockdown too early you don't flatten the peak but only delay it. They're saying it needs to start the exponential growth before you act. The government is literally saying "you ain't seen nothing yet bro" and people somehow bend that to mean they're not taking it seriously.

thanks you fantastic lot for the feels! good news, we are not getting moved out of out patients. BUT will be turning into this areas minor injuries and trauma unit. out patient appointments will cease as of Wednesday, today orthopaedic fracture unit moved into our dept. clinics moved around. I had my consultant asking what the heck is going on as his usual rooms were being used by the breast clinic.
I wasn't afraid, but now I am. not for me but for my colleagues , who are older (ones 70!) and some who aren't 100%. and the very vulnerable patients such as the cancer patients im fearful for.
As long as I get my roll and square sausage and tattle scone for my breakfast, ill keep fighting on! keep ye's updated

If panic was always the wrong answer, how did it evolve? Why was it not selected out?

Why did callous China shut down its economy? Just for a 1% death rate just the flue? Are you all kidding me?

And Italy has a nice 7% death rate. I guess the chinks... I mean bats engineered it specifically to wipe out pasta, it will not harm great Americans?

Honestly they should shut down everything, especially after the Italy habbening. Either the data was false up to Italy, or the virus is easier on asians. That would explain how Japan and South Korea are behind Italy. Oy vey. We were smarter in the middle ages.

Hey kiwis, I think I found an affordable hand sanitizing solution. Diversol, also known as sanibrew or pink stuff. Widely used in home brewing. It's apparently also used as a sanitizer in hospitals. It's food safe and a single bag of it can make like 10 gallons. Put some in a spray bottle and away you go! Probably also widely in stock at your local home brew place.

So here's the news of what has been announced by Canada at the press conference:

All borders closed for anyone not canadian/permanent resident or American [kek]

Starting Wednesday, only four airports accepting international flights Vancouver, Toronto Pearson, Montreal Trudeau and calgary

10bil in funds to be provided to Canadian businesses

Trudeau also made basically a last call to all Canadians abroad to come home.
That said anyone with symptoms are not going to be allowed into the country. So have fun with that
