Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I tried to get my Nicotine patches using an old Waitrose.com account with an ancient email address. You can only get 3 of them due to government restrictions. That comes to £40. The minimum for delivery is £60. Or you can 'click and collect' if you order over £40 but 'all slots are unavailable now. Vaping it is. I'm fucking glad I've got about three weeks' food if I ration myself. Also realistically I've got fat reserves for another couple of weeks. Assuming the water and power aren't shut off, I should survive.

However, I genuinely feel sad about old boomer types who just assumed something like this was impossible and are dependent on regular trips to shops and those shops having what they need. They're like lambs to the slaughter.
Toque is located on the Isle of Man, they might be able to ship you some emergency snuff.

I am going to be blunt. At least 1 in 1000 cases are straight up doomed. ATM they are walking dead. And not all of them are "old" - some might surprise you. But nevertheless, barring some sort of "vaccination fairy" and "pill fairy" flying into the bedrooms of every American this month, a certain segment of the population is going to die.

The hotspots prove this. For a certain predictable percentage of the population, virus is not survivable with current technologies. Full stop.

These current measures will save some lives, but really they will make it possible for the salvageable to get care, and survive. They are "flattening the curve," euphemistically speaking, delaying the inevitable over a longer period of time to make it more manageable.

That was my point dude. Until a safe and effective vaccine is available, those who are most vulnerable will remain... most vulnerable. So how does a one-month lockdown "literally solve the problem" (and lol if they think we're getting a safe and effective vaccine in one month's time we'd be lucky to have it one year from now).

So the question is, how long should this go on? Should we tank the economy and ruin everyone's lives to protect the old, the fat, the cancer survivors, lupus havers, etc? I'm not being edgy but seriously.

The goal isn't to completely stop the at-risk from dying. Its to spread it out over weeks and months instead of just going balls to the wall all at once and overloading the healthcare system. That's the point of self-quarantine and lockdowns: to slow the spread of the disease so hospitals have time to take care of patients at a slow drip. Because if hospitals get overloaded from every American attempting to out-Patriotism the virus then its going to hurt far more people than just those sick and elderly you've already conveniently written off.
For once in your life you've said something actually intelligent.

The narrative has been crafted.

Still think the DNC is going to take any heat over this?

For those not following along, the GOP and DNC crafted a bailout bill. It wasn't perfect, but it had full bipartisan support.

Then the Marxist cunt from California showed up Sunday with a 1200 page list of ransom demands and the DNC torpedoed the bill. Said 1200 page list has expanded to 2000+ pages of pork, including demanding all companies involved institute diversity czars and other such bullshit.

It seems to be especially crafted to either get a wishlist of every bonehaded fucking stupid DNC / DSA idea that they've had in the past 5-10 years, or to force the GOP / Trump to torpedo the bill so they can create a narrative that the GOP is keeping checks out of people's hands.

Punished Cruz has awoken:

Yes, because this is the one time people are generally paying attention, since everything is shut down.

No, s/he dragged Tuscangarder the other day.

I'm a little late on this but did Pence say that facebook has donated 700k facemasks from its stockpile? Did he misspeak or is zucc a secret prepper?

I heard the same number. My thought is that they may have some clinic services on their corporate campus that they may have been for, but not sure.

I'd bet real money that someone or several someones have tried to do some figures on this, in fact they've probably been making constant panicky updates to various predictions and forecasts twice a day since this all started.

Nope. Strangely.

We have no models for how this will go or help from the federal government. Or the state government (thanks DeSantis.)

a vaccine is a good endgame, in probably a year or two. NOT killing off a nice little chunk of the human population in the mean time is the goal right now. Also do people think no more diseases natural disasters or just every day run of the mill people getting normal sick and injured is going to happen? like its all on pause, one pandemic at a time rule. We can't just let shit run rampant because its inconvenient, or were thinking of the short term profit loss.

The travel and hospitality industry died the moment this became a global pandemic, 911 aint got nothing on this one. As hospitals become stuffed to capacity and even the young and healthy need to constantly take a month off work because they come down with a new strain of corona. Supply chains get interrupted and, food shortages and eventual electricity shortages... the economic damage is happening, It's Happening. It's just a matter of do you also want millions to die along with it too, out of some misplaced sense of patriotism or some shit.

Here's the full version of the original 1,119-page bill that Pelosi threw in everyone's lap. Bare in mind that the current iteration is over 1,400 pages, so even more has been added to it since. People are still digging new bits and pieces out of it, though. On page 78 she's demanding $600 million for the National Endowment for the Arts, for example.

Canada is now at 2091 cases and 25 deaths.

Ontario and Quebec announced the closure of all non-essential businesses in their provinces beginning tomorrow at midnight. 2 weeks for Ontario and 3 weeks for Quebec. Listings of what counts as a non-essential business will be put up tomorrow.

British Columbia hasn't locked things down yet, but the strain is starting to show.

Manitoba came out with an app, Help Next Door MB where you can volunteer to help or ask for it. Considering those who probably need help the most don't know how to use an app or have something they can access an app on at least it's something.

Justin Trudeau scolded Canadians like children in his address today, go home and stay home, warning that stiff enforcement measures could be imposed if people don't stop engaging in behavior that puts lives at risk.

"We've all seen the pictures online of people who seem to think they're invincible. Well, you're not," he said.

"Enough is enough. Go home and stay home. This is what we all need to be doing, and we're going to make sure this happens, whether by educating people more on the risks, or by enforcing the rules, if that's needed. Nothing that could help is off the table."

JT is meeting with all of the provincial premiers tonight before a small number of MPs from all parties return to Ottawa to pass a multibillion-dollar coronavirus support package tomorrow.

750k from their secret reptilian bases. Honestly, though, why does Facebook have 750k N95 masks?

A lot of people are asking why the fuck Facebook had or needed 750k N95 Masks? The answer most seem to be reaching is Facebook was either prepping stupidly or was planning on profiteering. (think how many E-Bay sales are driven by Facebook and Google. Now imagine how easily they themselves can exploit that.)
