Putin addresses nation on COVID-19 as Russia’s confirmed cases reach 600.
It would've been a bold move to wear a hazmat suit.

Probably sharing the same sentiments as other Kiwis with recent head colds, but looking back at my illness from January, it may have actually been a mild strain of pneumonia by itself. I didn't have any trouble breathing or chest tightness, but I had a nasty phlegmy cough that hung around a few weeks after the sore throat went away. Doc gave me some Z-PAK that helped along with Mucinex, but I've been feeling fine since and always washed up frequently. Chances are you're bound to get something in a huge crowd of college students, but sometimes it's the little things you need to be aware of. Keep knocking that wood.

German press doesn't believe that China has only "imported" cases now. Their tone was very sarcastic.
I'd be interested to hear how the press in other countries is treating this and reference to China in general?

In the UK I'm not seeing much/any mention of China in relation to the virus now (though I dont go out of my way to read every news source).

Is this still an sjw dont be racist thing? All a bit ridiculous, especially since the Chinese propaganda machine is now highlighting imported cases and those stinky foreigners.

This essential business bullshit has really opened a lense on just who is considered worthy of living and who is expendable. Maybe we oughtta change the working class to being called the dying class. The businesses are essential, the workers are disposable.

My job is not essential, my boss expects me to be there. He's chillin at home, I'm stuck several states away because I had to help people I know. He expects me to drive 14 hours plus go through several cities and towns that are in lockdown situations for this bullshit job. Told him I ain't leaving. Our rich clients can eat my shit.

With all that said and forgive the A loggery, I can 100% see a shift in the political discourse of our country based on this situation of who was chosen to live comfy life at home and who had to risk death/infection for their convenience. Would love to take a peak at a reality where all the essential employees striked from home. Maybe they'll team up with the homeless in that #eattherich movement

tldr I'm mad and frustrated and sick of paying my dues

I have been checking the russian telegram groups to see how they are doing and to steal their may-mays.

Russian elevator-button pusher with purification feature:

Notice outside russian barber shop - "Masks not permitted on the premises - we're all going to die here like real revolutionaries - signed - barber-shop of Che Gueavara - P.S. Only Rum and Whiskey avaliable for disinfection - 50 grams free for each customer"

New York, California, etc. maybe. Most of the country will be better off due to not living like sardines.

this "its only X country, oh its only X state, its only X city" passing off doesnt realy mean much. It's not like literally every square inch of italy and spain is a plague zone either, you can point to specific cities and regions. The thing is, while you're not seeing the bodies hit the floor in your little towns and backwater states yet, they're also not exactly hubs of high industry, commerce and culture either, now are they?

From the beginning everyone just wants to feel safe and normal, I get it but.. First it was just those silly chinks and their bats, everything is fine. Then it was just those touchy feely unwashed europeans, everything is fine. Now its just those damn new yorkers and commiefornians, everything is fine... I get coping mechanisms, but its like the polar opposite of morons buying/stealing 10 lifetime supplies of everything and preparing bullets to put in their neighbors heads. None of its productive.

Is that tweet in line with twitters cod of conduct shit?

Yes because Twitter hates the Government and any representative of said organization....unless someone is chained to their office protesting their account being blocked then they can't REEEEEEE fast enough for Johnny Law to come and remove the horrible trespasser.

Ukrainian quarantine has been extended until April 24th. I'm stuck in a flat with flatmates who only speak, joke and fucking talk only about corona. At least my boss brought me my work computer.

Fuck me, I used to be a shut-in and I just unlearned being a shut-in after so long. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Some real talk from one of my favourite Canadian heros Commander Hadfield. I read his book an Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth; very interesting read. I think after my trip to the beer store to get some brews, I think I'll sit and take a read through it again and enjoy a nice day of reading on the deck, beautiful day outside today. American thinking on this subject is a lot different than the Canadian counterpart, as much as I despise my governments way of handling the situation, I can only take day to day action myself in order to assess the risks. I prepared enough funds myself to make sure that my bills are paid for the next month, while having enough food to last for the next month. These are things people should of done, because realistically the people that have it already have it, and the differential in the testing demonstrates this element we all have to face now. Unemployment is a big cluster fuck right now, and my application is going to be in limbo with the other 30-50% of people in the country that have been laid off at the same time. It's all about mitigating the damage, helping our neighbours, and showing kindness and empathy in our community.

Here's the deal with all of the slapped-together ventilators that are being cobbled together and rushed to the hospitals right now- after the Chickety China the Chinese Sicken kerfuffle is over, those things are going straight into the garbage.

No doubt, but at the moment if my elderly relatives get pneumonia I'd rather they have a monkey model ventilator than no ventilator at all.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Export_variants_of_Soviet_military_equipment
https://web.archive.org/web/2020010.../Export_variants_of_Soviet_military_equipment

The term monkey model was popularized in the West by Viktor Suvorov, in Inside the Soviet Army. Suvorov states that the simplified monkey model was designed for massive production in wartime, to replace front-line stocks if a war should last for several weeks. In peacetime, Soviet industry gained experience building both standard and export-model variants, the latter being for sale "to the 'brothers' and 'friends' of the USSR as the very latest equipment available." He also cites the benefit of disinformation when an exported monkey model fell into the hands of Western intelligence, who "naturally gained a completely false impression of the true combat capabilities of the BMP-1 and of Soviet tanks"

When the shit hits the fan having lots of monkey model machines to supplement the limited supply of non-monkey model ones is handy. After the shit has been cleaned off the fan you can replace them with the good stuff.

I'm waiting for more 3d printed parts to come down the pipeline for medical stuff. We have fab shops locally that can make damn near anything out of a mold and they are mostly sitting around not doing jack shit.

The current 'war' /r/3dprinting is between those of us who want the parts to try and print and see what can be done inexpensively to help out vs. Reddit's LegalEagle Mod's. We want the parts that folks have access to but GodMod's are screeching about liability.

No one is looking to build a ventilator out of 3d printed plastic but there are parts that can be made at least that are in need (masks, shields, containers, machine parts). Fuck it if they work twice and are tossed, I can print more in goddamn neon pink if needbe.

More news coming from flipland.
One senator has tested positive. Senator Koko Pimentel was tested positive and broke home-quarantine protocols, to bring his pregnant wife to the hospital to deliver the kid. The said hospital (Makati Medical Center) basically made a strongly worded letter denouncing his actions

Here's a big wall of similar headlines if you ever want to rub this in a news outlet's face. They all love to scream about how "Trump never took it seriously!" but even if that was true, they were doing the same damned thing anyways.
