Word on the street is that my town is about to go on a stay at home thingy tomorrow. Curious to know what happens to my workplace, or at least the department I'm in because we're officially listed as essential, but we're not essential, if you get my meaning.

Also, just found out that 6 of the 9 guys in my team have diabetes. Now that's job security.

Okay so I have a legit question, because the US is woefully behind on testing, and in some places it seems like willful ignorance to avoid testing or something... with all the stories coming out of the states of pneumonia related deaths, and people under 60 being found dead, and none of these being marked down as corona victims...

Is there any good way to collect general death statistics for a state/city/county and get a more accurate picture? To compare and contrast to see if "oh, theres a 900% increase in motherfuckers dying from one month to the next, strange!" sort of thing?

Big ol update from Finland

Uusimaa Region under isolation

Archive

"
On Wednesday, the government decided on restrictions to isolate the Uusimaa region. The purpose is to ban all travel to and from Uusimaa for no absolutely necessary reason.
'Recreational tourism is not such a reason,' said Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SD).
The isolation in Uusimaa would last about three weeks and would last until April 19th. "

For reference, Uusimaa region with estimated 1,656 million people

Maybe in a few years.
The stats for Flu and pneumonia mortality are combined (in the US at least) so when something else comes along that kills people via pneumonia there's no real way to separate the data.

In a shocking display of response to the needs of real New Zealanders, online liquor sales are still going to be allowed. Too bad for the local liquor stores.. but some of them are still owned by New Zealanders rather than foreigners so I guess horseface Arden will be happy to see those businesses killed off. Now at least 200 identified cases which the government is admitting to, all because horseface deliberately failed to stop carriers coming into the country and didn't quarantine those who did.

Going to do some solo recreational walking later and see how many places have been ramraided so far.

On a positive note, Maori groups are setting up checkpoints in the Far North to do what horseface refused to.
Of course, if white country folks did the same the pigs would be all over them.

I need to go out for food supplies. I want to tape a large sign on my suit with the the words Stay The Fuck Away From Me because of re.tards that won't distance themselves to own Drumpf.

I bet if guns were legal here this would not be necessary.

It is ok hun. Calm down. Don't take this so hard. From what you have shared here, you have been thru far worse, and you survived it.

Is Amazon Fresh swamped in your area?

Pet a cat. Or two. Watch them play. That helps me.

Here's a slideshow of medical workers at a hospital in New Jersey.

Worth a look. Seems to refute a lot of criticism of what the USA's been doing re the ChiCom Flu.

Fellow Okie? I can relate to that situation though fast food is also an essential for some reason.

Yep! But those two in particular just struck me as ridiculous. Fast food doesn't surprise me given most Okies are fat fucks.

NOLA is going down fast so I'm afraid it'll be fucked here in a couple weeks. These people are too stubborn and stupid to stay home, especially the boomers.

Fast food is an "essential" at least here in California, because the most functional "poorest of the poor" often live in marginal housing that does not have an in-built kitchen.

They can use their EBT at some fast food places.

That right there is a good job-keeper for people in the fast food industry if they accept EBT and food stamps.

That and the only thing they seem to able to cook is fucking meth.

Anyway, seeing some movement around a nearby military base. Nothing special, nothing that I can put my finger on, but old NCO senses were ticking.

Local VFW canceled bingo and Sunday morning vet breakfast. NOW shit's serious.
